Is that a Purito or a Degenkolb finish on stage 9?
What is Dekenkolb finish this year?
I suppose somewhere around middle of the pack not depending on how the stake actually looks?

Nah, but he's definitely not a better bet for Garmin than Martin would've been for the GC.
I disagree. All around, Hesjedal is the better GT rider as far as Im concerned. Dan Martin is the better classics rider (unless theres cobbles or Dirt because Hesjedal is quite a strong cobbles rider), but Im unsure of him for a 3 week race.

indeed valverde 321 Daniel will never win a grandtour. He doesn't have time trial capacities

Basso misses the race due to cyst problems.

Actually, this was a typo.
Otherwise I wouldn't have said Nah. I meant that Hesjedal was definitely a better bet than Martin instead of not
A shame that Basso misses the Giro. Though I couldn't really see him Top 5 tbh

In my opinion, Basso's already washed out. Another top 10 at a Grand Tour, I don't think so, especially not now he's missing the Giro. Won't do it at the Tour, Vuelta or Giro next year... I think! |

It's a real shame for him. He could have made the podium here. Watched highlights from last year and he was pacing the favourites group on every mountain. With the Sky train in front of him, who knows what would have been possible.

I agree Stage chacer/mtn for GTs for Dan.

I said it was a typo. I accidentally put the word 'not' in my post. I agree with all of you too

Rujano and Basso out Evans and Sánchez been dinosaurs leave places from 4 to 10 really open. Will be nice to see what some joung talents like Betancur, Kelderman or Majka can do.

Has not been mentioned yet. Damiano Caruso replaces Basso for Cannondale. Could get close to a top 10 if his form is good.

Bloody hell. Just found out that the Giro will only be shown on Eurosport during the weekend, while the rest is on Eurosport2 (which I don't have).
Now I am forced to watch it on danish TV2 & listen to Rolf "I only talk about me & and riders from Italy & The Netherlands" Sørensen.
He will probably (again) talk, about the time he abandoned TDF every single time someone in the peleton crash, no matter who it is. |

The only positive thing about this is NO commercials
Just a 5 min. news broadcast between 16:00-16:05.

I doubt it, because there is more tha 1km of TT this year, thus dooming him. Also he has had absolutely abysmal form.

Just realized I still haven't made a top 10 prediction. Time to change that.
1. Wiggins
2. Nibali
3. Hesjedal
4. Henao
5. Evans
6. Pozzovivo
7. Scarponi
8. Santambrogio
9. Sanchez
10. Kiserlovski
I'm hoping to be wrong about Wiggins, as it's disturbing enough to have him as a Tour winner. I expect him, Nibali, Hesjedal and Henao to be far stronger than everyone else. Evans to complete the top 5 simply because he's solid. Barring a meltdown a la 2010 Tour, I think he'll do well.
Pozzo, Scarponi, Santambrogio and Kiserlovski will all be among the best in the mountains, but time trial losses will cost too much. Sanchez will be roughly around 10th on most tough stages and take 9th thanks to consistency.
Danielson, Betancur, Kelderman, Uran and Brambilla for the rest of the top 15.

I got so excited because I mistakenly thought that it started tonight (timezones are stupid). Now all I have to watch is Dunkerque
I haven't done a top 10 either so here goes:
1. Wiggins
2. Nibali (Under a minute gap)
3. Scarponi
4. Hesjedal (Though he and Scarponi will be close IMO)
5. Henao
6. Evans
7. Intxausti
8. Sanchez
9. Pozzovivio
10. Santambrogio
I think Atapuma will make the top 20 and Majka too. I don't think the Sky train will be as dominant, because the mountains aren't as suited to it, but Henao should be able to stick with Wiggins most of the time regardless. Intxausti will be one of the big surprises and could well take a mountain stage.
