Face it, he's the wrong side of 30 and past it.
Only Froome is really ahead of him, so he can win the Tour. Not the top favourite though.
I'm not so sure others aren't better.

I find it funnier that people still think that Andy is capable of winning the Tour. He couldn't do it in 2009 and 2010, when he was a better rider, so I no way that could happen now - especially considering his last two seasons.
Not to mention that he now has to fight Froome as well.
EDIT: Okay, technically he did win the Tour in 2010, but I don't count that one. It's blank, as far as I'm concerned.
Plus, he had literally the two tour routes of all time most suited to his single skill - climbing. Still couldn't do it. There has never been a tour as biased towards climbers as those two. If he couldn't do it then, he will never ever win it.
Then again, he's a stage racer who's never won a stage race so...why does anyone think he can win the Tour?

He still won the Vuelta last year, albeit with far less ease than he'd have done prior to his suspension.
Now two possibilities for his future (aka from now to late July this year), either he's doing much more whilst training and working on one big peak in July, which could be the only solution to beat Sky, either he's past it.
In my opinion (but of course it's just an option), it's a bit of both. He's probably having some hard times realizing he'll never be the rider he once was (there are various chemical reasons for that), but he also knows he need to be at his very best in July to stand a chance, so unlike previous seasons he must be working on one big season objective. |

Me neither, but as long as others don't show they are clearly ahead of him, I won't rule him out. Plus I expect Saxo to improve their cereals for the Tour.

Not really relevant
Yep, been mentioned
That's relevant, that's by far his best
Also uphill. Not a steep uphill, but uphill.
Not sure how that supports your argument.
Anyway, if you insist on digging through results...

https://www.cqrank...ceid=19163 (sprint for 2nd)

https://www.cqrank...ceid=23211
https://www.cqrank...ceid=22157
https://www.cqrank...ceid=22038
There are more, but I'm not sure if they were uphill or not
But the most relevant are the sprints between 2-3 people. A sprint in a bigger group is very different, as you can get a quite high placing while being slow just by following the correct wheels

Plus grouped sprints usually mean a much higher speed to start from, so less explosive riders cope better with it, whereas actual sprinters would cope better in small groups because the starting speed is lower and thus favours explosiveness more. |

God, no.
But even in your examples he finished somwhere in the middle of the groups he was in. What i want to say is, he might be no top sprinter, but also not especially bad for a climber.

he still won Vuelta..even when he was not best rider. what is Contador best result at Ardennes anyway?
purito did everything correctly..atack at the 1km banner is he' s trademark. But Martin was just to fresh at this point. Great team around a man.
Valverde took again max out..smart man again at podium |

Still it must be a bit frustrating for Valverde three podiums and no win |

Can't tell if you mean Ardennes, Vuelta or Worlds

Hesjedal needs to take a huge amount of credit as well. Super domestique performance. |

In regards to Andy Schleck...
When you can't decide between two options, flip a coin. Not because the result of the coin will choose for you, but because, in that split second before the coin lands, you'll know what side you want it to fall on.

Nice win from Martin and great job from Hesjedal to set it up. I only saw last 15kms, but i suppose that was enough for the outcome.

Amusing: Unzué says Valverde lost the race because...wait for it....the electronic gear change malfunctioned so he couldn't change gear

Interesting, Ivan Gutierrez said that they'd fixed that when I spoke to him at the TDU this year. They all said that is was much better, and that they had sorted all the issues out... Apparently not...
He's deleted his facebook since then so I can't provide any proof unfortunately, but here is Madrazo's showing us as friends I guess. Hopefully I'm believed here... (probably not, but hey, skepticism is important in progression)

He didn't have any problems with it on top of Saint-Nicolas.
