No need, the T.V. motorcycles once again dragged the front riders in the descent and in San Remo streets...
Yeah. They seem to play a key role each year. They also cut the corner on the descent, only to manouvre slower in the corners than Cancellara. It's a pain in the ass to watch. They shouldn't EVER get that close in the final 10km!

Cancellara was a motorbike on the descent. |

Great win for Gerrans! Cancellara rode strongly, not sure about Nibali if he didn't work thinking he could save energy for the finish, or if he was suffering. Greenedge were quiet during the race, I wouldn't have thought he'd have a chance, Sagan was my favourite.

So Eurosport leaves about 5 minutes after the race without any kind of reporting afterwards to go to snooker?

Cancellara was amazingly strong. Doing pretty much all the work after the attack and Gerrans could barely outsprint him. And with Boonen in the form he's been showing lately (hope he is ok, if it was him crashing) I'm looking forward to the cobble classics

It was Trentin who crashed. According to Nicolas Roche's twitter account, it was due to a helicopter flying too low. |

EBH was saying he was felling very good but at Poggio he was far back and got stuck behind the smaller groups. If Sky didn't wait for Cav EBH would had a better chance, what a fuck up.

Anyways, a very nice race. To bad Trentin and Van Avermaet crashed in the final straight.
Also, Liquigas did have a very good tactic, nothing to blame on Nibali.

Exciting finish, amazing race. Cancellara was really strong, but like last year, it wasn't enough. Still happy Gerrans won, great rider who finally has a chance to prove himself even in biggest races.

people should sto pblaming Gerrans for "stealing" the win. Cancellara was indeed the strongest today but Gerrans was by far the smartest, so is it a crime to be smart?
Still I wonder what would have happened with Gilbert.
And i Think Le Manie has changed a lot in the race behaviour in MSR, it's now for 2 years in a row the race has a first decisive moment there.

Of course not. And obviously wanting the riders who actually made the race exciting to win isn't either.

Exactly; Gerrans, Nibali and Cancellara made the race togheter (maybe Gerrans less than the other but still, it was him who countered Nibali.) I think it's fair to have those 3 on Podium.
Meanwhile on Thomas Degendt his Facebook; he said that Gerrans stole the victory ans other stupid sayings. I don't mind if it's really Thomas who says that or it's his fanclub on Facebook.

You could also say Gerrans won because Cancellara rather finishes 2nd than 10th so he keeps on riding. Nevertheless it was impressive that he was able to hold Cance's wheel and outsprint him at the end. |

There are not many that can say that they have won against a Swiss motorcycle.
Now what does this mean for the WT standings? Nibali or Gerrans on 1?

Well, there are two ways to see it. A cynical one, that'd say that you race to win and that the means justify the end, and the one that sees it as a gentlemen's sport.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, but depending on which you choose to adopt, you'll judge the way Gerrans won today very differently. |

Gerrans
He already won TDU which gives the same amount of points as winning Tirreno. So they were almost equal on points before today.

Problem is, people choose one or the other depending on whether they like the rider doing it or not. You'll see people calling Gerrans smart now, and Evans a wheelsucker in July.

@ Aquarius; there's always a road in the middle i think.
Racing to win and means justifying the end is like pozzato did last year.
Gentlemen's sport is what Voigt did in P-N with Sanchez, knowing that he's not going to win but still keep going.
For me cycling should be a well balanced mix between those two.
@Alakgom: Thanks, but i really think it doesn't make sense to give the same amount of points for TDU as for Tirreno. TDu is a high level indeed, but Tirreno is still a harder and better stuffed race.
As for Trentin, isn't it a bit strange then that he's the only one who went down because of that?
