If never being behind is playing nothing, I really hope the teams I cheer for would play nothing all the time Besides, it's the World Cup and it's terrible format (6 games to get to the final...). With a bit of luck you can play against no decent team up until the quarter-finals. Definitely not impossible to play nothing the entire tournament and still get to the final.
Like Germany in 2002?
Saudia Arabia, Ireland, Cameroon, USA, Paraguay, South Korea -> Brazil.
Must have been a very hard way to the finals.
Well, Germany had to advance against the best team of the tournament. Individually the players were probably among the worse ones, but as a team they played brilliantly, all 14 of them

yes because we had so much luck with the refs against spain and australia (2 penalties that never should have been given)
oh well, haters gonna hate
Luck =/= referee helping (at least no completely). You had luck in knockout stage and I don't know what's wrong with that. Of course, guys played well, but still...
And yes, you were so right, I hate Netherlands so much! Look, I do have million reasons to hate you! Fuck Oranges...no. Just being realistic.

Well, Dutchie luck streak had to stop once. Nice that it stopped by another (more or less) luck-thing, penalties.

how else could you explain a team of RVP and Robben and a bunch of eredivisie players (think you said that here, but can't find that exact post) can get to the semi-final.
About the Dutch team: I believe scoring twice - one of them being in a very dubious penalty - when being 7 minutes away from elimination is rather lucky. Not to mention that Mexico was better in the 1st half but felt to the 'underdog status' and played only defense in the 2nd half time, giving the Netherlands the chance they needed. Then drawing Costa Rica in the quarter finals, arguably the most surprising team (and thus maybe the weakest/less experienced) among those 8 ones, is also rather lucky.
But well, as you say, haters gonna hate and losers gonna play the much valuable 3rd place playoff

Yes, it would have counted (If Vlaar didn't touch the ball)
His shoulder touched it

We were good that year, we were really close to beating Spain, and South Korea seem to have been really lucky, so they could have been beaten too. Damn, with Roy Keane we might have reached the semis there.
