Great Wout, which ever race VDP wins Wout will win too, and vice versa.

Good to see Wout win this one, in a normal season he'd ride Roubaix and skip this one. The 3 strongest (minus possibly Vansevenant, just wow!) were in the front and could fight it out.
I wonder if he'd consider Liege now.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Take my hat off for Vansevenant, since last year’s Fleche I’ve been keeping an eye out for him and he’s been showing all that many had expected.
Also that Ben Tullet in 17th at the age of 19, nothing too grandious but worth looking how he develops in the future, quite consistent this year inside the top-20 with decent startlists. |

Pogacar said it was a false positive. Threee additional tests were made and all came back negative, no confirmation whether it was a rider or a staff member. They all got vaccinated with a Chinese vaccine iirc back in January. |

I read it was Ulissi and a staff member, and yes it seems false positives

Wasn`t it the Chinese vaccine, which seems to have a low effect of just around 60% and more important doesn`t really hinder the virus to still be with you to spread around?
For the long time effects it`s surely a big help as those being vacinated with it seem to no longer suffer serious health issues but to really work with athletes that go around the world, it is not most ideal then as it`s always a danger of spread around again.
So it`s absolutely understandable that those having a positive are excluded from any race, no matter if it might be a false positive in the end. In especially as most other riders from most teams are not vacinated at all yet I guess, at least not those from the Western European teams, where stricter age restirctions take place.
Sucks for the team/race/fans anyway of course with 3 potential winners and a very strong team around them. |

It was that one, yes. Plus, I don’t think Ulissi has taken a jab yet since he was recovering from his myocarditis and didn’t join the team’s training camp in UAE at the beginning of the year. So I understand this as a precautionary measure. |

At least Roglic proved he's less doped than the '90s Italians.

Kinda reminded me of the 2013 edition when Betancur seemed to launch from the foot of the climb. I was convinced he would come back to win the race multiple times. Such a joy to watch back then... |

Not really a fan of UAE, but if one (apparently false) positive test outweighs a vaccination plus five negative tests, I can't really take that seriously. Anyway, I probably have an opinion on the pandemic that's not shared by most of you...
But I don't think any of the "Arab" guys would have stood a chance against Alaphilippe - absolutely stunning finish to beat a very strong Roglic. Great racing!
And well, good to see that Skyneos don't always choose the best strategy

Amazing performances all 'round. Crazy to think Valverde still had it in him to finish 3rd behind the two beasts. |

Valverde really impressive to finish 3rd, but yeah, he knows this climb better than anyone. His team completely left him out to dry positioning wise, so he bunny hopped onto the sidewalk and moved up the group at like 10-15% to land directly on Alaph's wheel.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Ben Tullet 12th. Seems like something special is in the making (plus, a cyclo-crosser, so you know what to expect from him ). |
