2011 National Championships

Not that many surprises this year, in most major cycling countries the winner is one of the very best rider of the season. Which is something I appreciate for a "national champion", although I'm of the opinion that it's a bit ridiculous to have a change of season champion in the very middle of the season, and I'm also thinking that those titles could or should be given to the most deserving rider of the season (base it on a CQ-like ranking or something).

Problem is, people would say that this or that guy wasn't deserving it, whereas with the current system, therecan be no discussion Wink
But I have to agree with your 1st argument

Murilo Fischer keeps his Brazilian champion jersey (no surprise). He arrived solo after more than 100 km in a 3-rider leading group. Gregory Panizo, the pan-american champion and current UCI America Tour leader, arrived 4th. The race had awful conditions (rain and cold), and only 23 riders (from 140 in the beginning) finished it.
Also (if anybody cares xD), Magno Nazaret was the ITT champion 2 days ago (the man-game players will probably know him).

Edit: And a picture (nice helmet btw)

Wiggo is certainly in form of his life know, and he may surprise few people at the tour. Top 3 is bit too ambitious, but with this form I think he might challenge for Top 5.

1-2-3-4 for Sky this time. Even better than last year.

Wouldn't it be ? Pfft Last time it was a fluke. Don't you remember last year fail, Pfft Though he is much better prepared than last year.

The race was wierd. Hushovds group never really tried to bridge the gap. At least thats what it looked like.

With Gabriel and 9(?) Plussbank cervelo riders, they should have mange to do better... But as Kaggestad and Paasche said, they were sleeping at a crucial moment..

I wouldn't call it a fluke in 2009. Lucky maybe, but not a fluke.

Problem is, with this form, it's not quite sure he'll be able to stay with favorites till 3rd week Wink
Let's hope he does !

Cabreira. Isn't he supposed to be banned?

According to CQ ranking:
Joao CABREIRA was accused of avoiding an out of competition control in July 2008. In October, he was suspended for 10 months by the Portuguese federation, but in december he was cleared from any responsibility.
In February 2009, CABREIRA was suspended again, now for 2 years, because of "tampering with a doping control sample". He was controlled on 19 May 2008, as part of an investigation of the LA-MSS team, and it was proven that he used an enzyme, protease, to mask the presence of EPO in his urine.
In May 2009, Cabreira was cleared again by the Portuguese court, but in April 2010, the TAS confirmed the ban of 2 years, which now will end in January 2012.

Bunch sprint not far behind, won by ... Theo Bos. Rabobank fail!

They didn't have confidence in their sprinter (Bos) and thus failed as predicted.
It's the same way they lost the nationals in Rotterdam years back, when they didn't gamble on De Jongh, then Van Bon won and.... de Jongh won the peloton sprint.

The most genius part of the race was where Gesink attacked, dropped Ten Dam and Kruijswijk, and then pulled out 6km later Rolling Eyes BRILLIANT. Without ear piece Gesink is a lost sheep.
