I barely buy any games for PC, but that one time a year that I check the price of Football Manager, Steam is usually a lot more expensive than other options -- so what's the point in a sale if the prices are just reduced to what the normal price is at other shops?
True. Amazon usually offer much better prices, and you got games in box. Although Steam has some good deals on the not released as boxed covers game. Currently enjoying LIMBO, probably the best puzzle/scary ( at times )/ great game ever
Some people I found won't buy game on retail if they could not register them on Steam. As most of the 2008 and downwards games do, so they prefer to buy those games at Steam so they have it in library, have playtime time and achievements etc. which if they bought retail they couldn't have.
Otherwise, retail is quite better imo but sometimes you can find good deals on Steam though.

I didn't mention retail - I was mainly talking about netshops which sells a game key that can be activated through Steam. So essentially, it's the same as Steam, just at a much lower price.
Then again, this assumption is based on FM10 and FM11 - I didn't check any other games.
Limbo? Never played it, but since it's made a Danish company, it's been mentioned quite a lot in Danish media. I interviewed the CEO once - nice guy.

I see. Yea I did that once on Gamersgate. They had nice offer on civilization V and then activated on Steam. I wait for FM 2011 too on Steam, should be on sale later on, as well as Rugby challenge 2011, good looking game me thinks.
Oh, well actually Limbo was nominated for the game of the year alongside Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and the others in some computer awards. Must have been fun interviewing him
Do you do interviews as part of university course or as a proper journalist in a job if I may ask ?
Edited by Alakagom on 19-12-2011 22:30
Most interviews are done for articles that are a part of a university course, but we are free to sell our articles to news media.
There's also a few courses where we cooperate with certain newspapers / news media. Earlier this year, I worked for a newspaper for two weeks - that was a part of my education.
There's also a course where we write a lot of articles and one selected newspaper can pick the articles they like and bring them in the newspaper.
So it's not really a yes/no question.
Edit: On the FM-subject, I was a mouse click or two away from buying it a week or two after its release, but I was afraid that I'd become too addicted. There's a lot of stuff to do at the Uni, so I have delayed the decision until Christmas

I see, very nice course though ( my last questions I promise ) . Do you have some specialization you write the articles about ? For example one student has specialization in politics so does only articles on politics etc.
Or during the course you have to ''experiment'' with all ''specilizations'' ? Also did you ever write any articles on cycling ?

In general, we are being taught how to do political journalism. I have never had a course about sports journalism, cultural journalism etc.
That being said, we do, of course, learn about the different journalistic genres.
No articles on cycling, but I did do a full two-page article on Danish American football which was published in one of the most read newspapers in Denmark (Metro - you probably know the newspaper from your own country): https://www.e-pages.dk/metroxpressdk/1...dk/1873/36

Very nice.
So, are you the one wearing the hat, or the one without?

The one without, since the guy with the hat looks 30-something
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

Indeed, plus we can see the one without hat on the first pic, and it says text by Mike Jensen and photos by Lasse Mejlvang.
Nice that a big newspaper published your article, I can't read Danish but it looks good.

Damn, and I'm about to go on a trip too!
Great!! Happy for you Pity you'll go on a trip but enjoy it, I believe you'll have some time to play PCM 11 when you're back (you're on winter vacations right)?
It must have been frustrating to have a game which was very well acclaimed by the community but not working because of some rare random problem. Nice you can play now! =)

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I leave on Sunday, but that still gives me time to try out the Daily db, which should finish downloading in an hour or two.
Trust me, it was very frustrating, but now that its working its like Christmas all over
