@trekbmc: Couldn't ask for a better finish. Good planning resulting in good results Grin

@The Schleck Fan: Thanks Smile. Konig's done really well in his first season for us...

A big shout out again to everyone who's been following and commenting on my story. The thread's now past 200 posts and 5000 views. What's most encouraging now is the fact that the number of different readers commenting seem to be increasing. I'm very pleased that I could write something that's drawing such consistent viewership, this being my first story on this forum. Thank you all again Grin

I'll keep this going as long as I can...

Another nice win for the team, seems to have been an exiting finish.

That's one scary looking rider Shock

A lot of top finishes but the curse of 2nd place, which plagued us through most of the first season, seems to back again!

trekbmc
Stage wins for Rojas Shock Pfft but second third and fourth everywhere else. :lol:

Also Rasmus Quaade does look scary Shock

Transfer Round-Up

Movistar

Ins: Pello Bilbao (Caja Rujal), Elia Viviani (Astana), Rafal Valls (Colombia), Eustaquio Sanchez (Scouter Puncher, OVR 70, HIL 74, FTR 84)

Outs: Jose Herrada (Philips), Jose Joaquin Rojas (Aeroflot), Giovani Visconti (Trek), Eros Capecchi (MTN Qhubeka)

The transfer strategy for us this year has been markedly different from last year. This year, we have concentrated on getting in specific personnel to fill in the spots vacated by those leaving. It was a calculated decision not to extend with all those who are leaving the team this time around. The team management felt that we have reached the maximum potential with these riders already and there was nothing new or nothing more that either party could offer the other. As such, we have got in riders we feel will offer something different to the team.

Rafal Valls is an established name in the peloton and he will add depth to our domestique department.

Pello Bilbao has been a rising steadily and we feel he is a genuine future contender for GT KOM jerseys.

Elia Viviani has been brought in to lead our often faltering sprint team. He is another rider who has firmly established himself in the peloton, but is still quite young so as to continue with us for the foreseeable future. He also brings improved cobble skills to our team, something which we have severely lacked in the past. With him, the team and the sponsors are looking at better results in the Northern and other Cobbled Classics.

Finally, Eustaquio Sanchez is a rider we fought very hard to get in. When scouted, he was already being sponsored by another team. We waited our chance to offer him a contract till the window opened because we felt he really was that good. As you've already seen, he has delivered beyond anyone's wildest imaginations already. He should develop into a fine racer.

Other notable transfers

Peter Sagan - Lotto-Soudal -> Astana
Alexander Kristoff - Canondale-Garmin -> Giant-Alpecin
Tony Martin - Ettix-Quickstep -> Giant-Alpecin
John Degenkolb - Giant-Alpecin -> Ettix-Quickstep
Michal Kwiatkowski - Europcar -> Team Sky
Ilnur Zakarin - Tinkoff-Saxo -> Aeroflot

Simon Spilak is a Free Agent next year!

Team Management Announcement

After careful thought, the Team Management has come to the decision that this will be the final contract extension that they negotiate with Movistar. This clause was mutually agreed upon during negotiations and is a part of the resultant deal. Right off the back, the management would like to thank Movistar for the support and encouragement they have provided since our partnership began in 2011. They are a very big reason as to why we have enjoyed the kind success that you have seen. This last year has been especially successful. They came in at a difficult time, but ensured right from the start that their commitment would be 100%.

The team management deems it fit to spell out where the team is planning to go from here. The team is looking to start diversifying from targeting mostly Spanish based riders. We are also looking at targeting other races as a part of our main objectives. The current team structure makes it imperative for us to ensure a Spanish core group of more than 50%. We plan to bring this down to 8-10 riders over the course of the next three years. We are also looking at targeting the WT Classics and Monuments races more than we do currently. For this, we need to bring in the required riders. This, we feel, will be better served if we are able to widen our transfer net.

For the next three years, we will continue to concentrate our scouting to Spain, giving deserving young talent a chance. As we near the end of this three year period, we will change our scouting focus depending on our next sponsor.

A thank you to everyone from Movistar who has been a part of our journey. Signing off reiterating our gratitude.
