I think he has a good chance. There's always a chance that something screws up in the Sky train. Plus, I've never seen Chicchi this good before.
I doubt there's anyone bar Greipel and possibly Kittel who has enough speed nowadays to beat Cav' elbow to elbow. Now if Sky's train screws up that's a different matter, and anyone fast enough could win. |

In a recent interview he said it would be highly unlikely. He still feels some pain sometimes, and has difficulty to move quickly, walks very slow right now. |

I think he will be the leader for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, so he cant do the Vuelta.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Ahhhh, who cares if he doesn't lead at USAPCC? They have plenty of other guys who are good at altitude like........ Busche? Still, just because it's here doesn't mean it's that important. Go to the Vuelta!

I recently read that any stage of the Tour of Cali was as hard as Liège-Bastogne-Liège, so, by comparison, I assume USAPCC is worth a couple of World Tour, right ?

A stage win at the USAPCC is like winning the GC at the Tour, Giro and the Worlds all in the same year.
It's that important ya know!

It would be 'worth a couple of World Tour' if it was actually in the world tour |

No. Though I'm an American, I know that this isn't exactly a cycling country, so while I do think that Chris should defend his title at Cali, he shouldn't go to a 2.1 race just because it's here in the US of A. He gets no real leadership oppurtunities anymore, and really, it's not because he's declining. Because he's not. It's because he has no role and he should have gotten his ass outta The Shack before the merger like Levi.
To conclude, I don't even care about USAPCC, just give Horner the Vuelta!

But Horner has been winning 2.1 races in the US his whole career! Its his speciality.
Its almost as if he likes doing it.

Yeah, that's true. but he's shown that he can compete on the worldtour stage, and he doesn't have many years left. M,aybe he does like doing it, but I'm sure he'd like winnning ther Vuelta better!(highly unlikely, but anythings possible. Just look at Cobo last year.)

Thta's just ridiculous. Horner is far better. All the Leotards get a chance to lead, regardless of skill. But this isn't a ranting thread, so I'll stop.

Last year Monfort lead Leopard in the Vuelta, and finished in the top-10, 6th or 7th. No surprises that he leads the team again. |

I wouldn't say that.
Monfort is a decent climber, and he can TT. I could see him getting a Top 10 if he's on form. I hate to admit that you are probably right, Horner is better, but I dont think its by as much as you think.
