I hope that 1 on his back gives Gidich some motivation. With this startlist I definitely expect a lot in the hilly stages from him. If they are less selective Mano is here as well as a backup plan for the GC.
Also I brought Hsu for the sprints where I'm not really sure why he's here but I didn't send him to Qatar. Anyways 5th in the opening stage is an alright start by him but I expect more in the upcoming stages. |

Very curious to see how this plays out. With the hilly stages looking fairly undecisive to me, i suspect that the dunbars and evenepoels will again take control which would probably be a very good thing for plapp too who could finish top 5.
I'm surprised Herregodts is not here. |

Kulikovskiy not involved isn't a great sign for our sprinting!

Im also wondering whether that was a planning mistake. My thought process was that Plapp felt like the safer bet for this - especially looking at stage 6 and there were a couple of races where i avoided sending two leaders so that i can control who pcm is riding for. I struggle to see a scenario where Plapp finishes outside the top 10 while Herregodts could more easily get dropped here and when that happens, i see a higher chance of that snowballing into more time losses. I also wanted to use the opportunity to use Herregodts in Tirreno for the prologue and the TTT as i have big GC ambitions.
Probably would decide that differently now but i think Plapp should finish top5 here and if Herregodts helps Lecuisinier in Tirreno to finish 1-2 spots higher and/or im particularly lucky in the prologue, i can hopefully recover most of what im losing by not having him here.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Cool finish I must admit, even without any meaningful gaps really like how the sprint played out!
Congrats to Abhi on a great win for the homegrown hero and thanks for the report!

Another day in yellow is great, but I'd rather have had Remco closer to the front of the race.

As non-selective as it can get, I guess. Expected on that stage, but curious to see how the on paper more difficult hilly stages play out. Romo nowhere to be seen and outside the stage top 100, probably means we're all in for Groenewegen here. At least in the first days of the race.
Congratulations on a fine win, Abhi! And thank you a lot for the report, kb |

Very uinteresting stage really. Obviously OK from a GC perspective to keep Ioannidis and Kiriakidis alive, but would have liked to see Kinoshita giving it a go.
Guess this keeps the next two stages a bit more though as Farantakis managed to survive without gaps, so a temporary GC position is still up for grabs.

Congrats Abhi, good to see the trend of young up and comers doing well.
Anonymous race so far for us which is good - hopefully there is some selection to drop some of the TT riders in the coming days, but probably best for us to hope for it to be a bit easier.
Thanks for the reports!

Stage 1: Kind of a gross sprint to watch, at least for us. Looks like the leadouts blocked and slowed Rodenberg past the point of return. Empty stage.
Stage 2: Nothing stage, again, which I guess is to be expected. One thing I've noticed from him is he's climbing very poorly this year and getting dropped badly on some relatively easy finishes. I wouldn't expect him to be at the front here with 60/65 mtn/hill, but also wouldn't expect him to be the worst climbing sprinter on multiple occasions. Maybe a stamina issue, but a lot of his peer sprinters also have weak stamina, so I don't know.
Congrats to the winners and thanks for the reports!

Amazing result from MVD, following an amazing uphill leadout from Kuli! McCormick also getting into the act here. Our first ever win as a PT team and that too from a 100% homegrown talent is something special
Thanks for the congrats and the reports

Guess the PCM change is not really nice to my team so far.
Ageing riders were obvious with the reduced backup stats.
But also Vansevenant suddenly being anonymous was not expected. 19th and no time loss might be okay, but in a race like this he should attack to gain time on the hills as otherwise scoring is difficult.
Not a single mention of a 3 star rider and only riding around safely in the pack is not enough for him.
A 150 rider peloton on that stage is not what Vansevenant needs but is what he gets for not pushing. Hopefully this will change on the next stages.
Thanks for the reports and congrats to the winners. |

What are we doing here again?
It's hard to see Ackermann being in a better position than he was on stage 2. Wright finished 5th and Fedorov 10th so clearly even this undermanned squad of helpers did a very good job, but someone has to finish it off.

They always tell people to never fall in love with a loan rider, but grabbing the KoM-lead for a day definitely makes us love Yamamoto at least a little bit. Let's see if he manages to score some more points along the way in other stages.
Another nice result by Aniolkowski and a superb win from Virgil Van Dijke, congratulations alex and Abhishek!!
Thanks for the great reporting so far

Pretty decent first few stages for us. Yates doing what he can and leading the points classification is good to see but a stage win would be better!
I think everyone stayed together and didn't lose time so Oliveira and Hatter are both in with a shot for a lower top 10 finish as well!

Amazing. Farantakis can’t sprint, and Kinoshita can’t keep up…
I guess this will be another piece of nothing… It’s really impressive how pooler Farantakis is doing here with a (on paper) rather solid train.
