Gotta love getting no support to chase the breakaway and then losing the race lead because of it

Yeh that was not a good stage for the GC for any of the big guys...
Not sure why we didn't offer support. Congrats to the breakaway and the winners. Great report as usual!

1. Don't send anyone in the breakaway when the stage is almost tailor made for the break to succeed.
2. Don't help chase until it's way too late and you're about to slip from 5th to 9th on GC.
3. ???
4. Profit
Tactical masterclass, but I suppose it was the same from the other teams with good GC positions. Penasa isn't terrible on the TT bike but also not really good enough to make up any ground. Let's see what the rest of the race holds.

Wow, Guldhammer was just meant to be a cheap domestique for us this year, and he ends up winning a mountain stage in Osterreich Rundfarht and places 2nd in the GC? What a bonus!
He will probably fall like a stone after the hilly stage and TT, but no one can take the breakaway win from him. Delighted |

Weird race the last couple of stages. Finally it's time for Smit to shine in the break, but then we send Seboka instead... It has not been good for us, but there's still some opportunities left

Mudgway with another good sprint!
Hopefully Bennett can hold on to the top 10. That's our goal in the TT. He has had a good race (expect for that stage the breakaway won). Should be interesting!

Need 62 seconds over 24.3kms, or 2.55 seconds each kilometer. I feel like that's doable with a 10-point TT difference between Jorgenson and Bernard. Come on Matteo bring home our first goal win since 2020.

Strange how I knew the instant we started doing all the work on Stage 5 that we would end up with nothing!

Sorry for not commenting more, I've been sick these last days.
This last sprint from Hofstetter finally gives us something to look for, after a pretty disappointing race. Sure, we were in the winning break, but got nothing of it really and Lafay won't stay where he is after the TT. Maybe he'll hold on the top 10, but I wouldn't bet on that.
Not sure what Iturria can gain also in the same time, after the disastrous S2
S3 was also very disappointing, but well, the 2nd sprint was much better so can't complain too much from Hofstetter, who's doing his job this season.
Thanks for the wonderful reports Ulrich. I also think Jorgenson still has what is needed to come back with the win here.

Sad to see Guldhammer just miss the podium, but still awesome to see him get a terrific stage win.

Congrats Mre and Jorgenson. Bennett 9th GC. I hoped for a top 5 but to stay in the top 10 after what happened in stage 4 is great! Happy with the stage results, GC and our positions in the points standings should still be a good points haul but I was hoping for more.
Excellent reports! Loved all of it! Jorgenson is a beast.

22 seconds separated me from achieving one of the 5 goals for the season (yes, Int. Österreich Rundfahrt was my token Win goal this season, everything else is modest Top 5 goals). But truth be told, beating Jorgenson was always going to be a tall order unless you had a mammouth gap ahead. And it wasn't a sure thing that Bernard will be at the front - if it wasn't for the breakaway in Stage 4 he may've been just outside Top 10. Thankfully, he doesn't suffer from a chronic Preidleritis
With all set and done Bernard proves to be another solid rider for the team this season after KHJ. He'll get a really good ranking points haul, coupled with CFH's 8th in KoM and the team classification win could help us in the rankings. Unfortunately, the next race for us is Pais Vasco and I fear that this wasn't a race where I should've thrown KHJ.
Congrats to Mre and Jorgenson for the GC win. And thanks UU for the reports

First of, thank you Ulrich Ulriksen for the amazing reports (as allways!)
We'll take that. Stage win and 2 in the top 10. It's ok.
Congrats to Mre and Jorgenson for the GC win, a true juggernut this season.

Thanks for the reports, and congrats to hillis for the last stage, and Mre for the GC.
For us it's OK, in the end. GC is on the lower end of expectations, but with two stage podiums, 2nd in the KoM (for 1 point!) and in the team standings thanks to a good ITT, we should end with a decent if not great return from this race.
Onward to Pais Vasco now!

Great GC win by Jorgenson, and as you correctly mentioned Ulrich, we are definately celebrating over Guldhammer's surprise 4th place overall, after his breakaway win earlier in the race. We are super super happy!
Thanks alot for covering this race UU, and congrats to all the winners! |

The team goal curse is over! Jorgenson delivers again.
Made it a liitle more scary than I would have liked, but got the job done regardless.
Thanks for all the kind words and the reports!

Beautiful to see our leadout firing on all cylinders in stage 6, Penasa working for Gibbons reminiscent of Wiggins leading out Cavendish dare I say. Shame it wasn't enough for the win but with the way the AI treats sprinters I'm happy it happened at all. Gaining three GC places on the TT is a nice consolation for Penasa too, it should have been a top 5 but what can you do.
Congrats to the ever-imperious Jorgensen and many thanks for the top quality reports!

Thanks Ulrich, this is the new norm for Stage races for Glanbia I guess!
Boswell put up a decent showing in attacking for stage wins but otherwise a GC blowout! As we go into the more Stage race heavy half of the season it is worrying!

Watched from the sidelines here (and happily did so at that). A very impressive race from Jorgenson but loved the breakaway action throughout the tour.
Given where my team is at, always happy to see Newton and Gjensidige take home good results as there's no way to even challenge them - need to somehow stay close to the rest of the division.
