Have always enjoyed watching Chiarello from the sidelines, but not sure he’d ever be able to fit into the team alongside Dunbar. Going to be strange to see your team without both Koretzky and Coquard though, hopefully they can get you a nice sun of cash Smile

Welcome! (Back)

The transferwindow haven't been open for long, but we already greet 3 new riders. Or well, one. And two former!

Let's start by saying hello to:

Martinos Moutsios 1.00 22yo Timetriallist €50.000

Martinos is easily the biggest timetrial talent of his generation. He's not quite what Vlatos once was, but he's probably the closest from the old school. We are very happy to say a brief hello to Martinos, before he's heading off to a loan for the duration of the season.

We also wish a warm welcome back to these two:

Andreas Miltiadis 4.100 27yo Puncheur €60.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
68757567707166686175676867

Andreas has been with us for quite some time as we developped him ourself. Last season he tried asking for a significant raise, only to be told off - and we had to find eachother again during the offseason. Then he went on to win a stage at the Tour de France, so he tried once more. Same story. Now with an even lower wage than last season.

Despite our disputes regarding the paycheck, we are very happy to have Andreas on board.

Georgios Bouglas 4.100 33yo Sprinter €50.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
71636957706574527776616657

Bouglas is starting to wear off - and truth to be said, he wouldn't have gotten a contract if it wasn't for the fact that he is just 76 points short of reaching Hero-level. Having fought for years on-end as a Warrior we felt obliged to pick him up for one last ride, and hope he can find the final points he needs before retiring from the game.

Make us proud Georgios!

Moutsios at that price tag is a bargain and a half, congrats! I guess he was never going to end up anywhere else, and everyone probably knew it Wink Love the Bouglas signing too, got my fingers crossed that he reaches that threshold.

Congratz on the first signings. I promise I'll take good care of Moutsios for the season. As cunego mentioned, looks like a great price to me as well.

Welcome to another batch!

While the previous announcement saw two former riders making their way back into the team, this time we are happy to welcome 3 new riders into the team

Let's start by saying hello to:

Georgios Boutopoulos 4.39 27yo Rouleur €70.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr

↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓
78687266737569747378807468

Georgios Boutopoulos is a rider we have been monitoring for a couple of years. It hurt when he chose another team coming out of his early development, but we have remained in good contact, and we are so happy to finally come to an agreement. Boutopoulos is a brilliant Rouleur, that will even develop further if we prepare him well enough.

He has the biggest potential on flat roads in our team, and it will be enjoyable to watch him and Kortsidakis giving it full pedal in the difficult finishes. Boutopoulos also offers a great domestiques role in a leadout train aswell as in the cobbles.

We also wish a warm welcome back to these two:

Zisis Soulious 4.100 27yo Puncheur €125.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
69747566767569517178637666

Zisis is another rider we have been trying to sign for a couple of seasons or 3. He is now finally maxed out, and joins as a perfect attacking puncheur. Due to Soulious' qualities it's very likely that he will be subject to further training in the future, as he has a great statline.

For this season he will be looking to supplement the hilly department of the squad.

Shaun Nick Bester 4.100 32yo Allrounder €80.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
72687273747170747171716972

The final addition is something as rare as a non-greek/cypriot rider! Shaun Nick Bester is an absolutely brilliant allround capacity, and was purchased for numerous reasons. To supplement our Tour of Northern Europe and Chrono d'Arenberg potential, aswell as figuring in almost every type of race possible with his brilliant statline. Bester too will join the cobbled section, which is now fairly potent in terms of depth.

Bester is a great allround rider, Boutopoulos has the potential to become the Greek Quispe and Soulious could do some serious damage with some training. You know what to do, secure those training funds now Pfft

The Transferperiod is now over!

It has been a hard period for us. Aiming to sell a lot of riders has taken it's toll, and the team manager is ready for a brief vacation after this. But overall things came to look very much like we wanted - or almost atleast!

Riders in

It hasn't been the most interested season in terms of intake. We had a pretty clear idea of which riders we wanted to bring, and was overall succesful. Soulious, Boutopoulos, Moutsious, Bouglas, Miltiadis and Evangelos was all part of the primary plan. Unfortunately we missed the option to find a way to sign Michael Christodoulos. We will have to try again next season. We also had outside priorities to sign Nikolaos Zegklis, Stavros Theorpanous and Georgios Kaloniatis. Unfortunately it was not possible due to the decision of ultimately keeping both Bryan Coquard and Clement Koretzky which ties around 1mio in wages.

We will attempt to make room for the bunch next season. For this season, we managed the following riders:

NameActual feeWage
Zisis Soulious* € 250.000 € 125.000
Georgios Boutopoulos* € 250.000 € 70.000
Richard Antonio Carapaz* € - € 300.000
Leo Vincent € 125.000 € 80.000
Martinos Moutsios € - € 50.000
Georgios Bouglas € - € 50.000
Andreas Miltiadis € - € 60.000
Shaun Nick Bester € - € 80.000
Sarris Evangelos € - € 50.000
Total € 625.000 € 865.000

* Zisis Soulious and Georgios Boutopoulos was secured in a swap deal for Jake Stewart whom we purchased for € 500.000
* Richard Antonio Carapaz joined in a swap deal where we also received € 1.000.000 for William Chiarello

Riders out

We came into the season expecting to sell all of our non-greek riders, but ended up keeping both Bryan Coquard and Clement Koretzky. In terms of fighting the relegation ghost, this might have been a god solution. We expected to sell for € 6.750.000, and came away with € 3.944.000. Considering that we expected Bryan Coquard and Clement Koretzky to sell for a combined € 2.750.000, our estimates seemed to hit close to the original target, despite some claiming less than expected.

Deducting the 2.750.000, we had an expected level of income at € 4.000.000, which means we were just € 56.000 under. We are happy with that outcome!

NameExpected feeActual fee
Bryan Coquard € 2.000.000 Staying
Clement Koretzky € 750.000 Staying
William Chiarello* € 1.000.000 € 1.000.000
Emmanuel Morin € 500.000 € 200.000
Victor Lafay € 650.000 € 500.000
Joel Yates* € 500.000 € 839.000
Jay Vine € 750.000 € 600.000
Jean Bosco Nsengimana € 200.000 € 350.000
Joshua Kelly € 200.000 € 180.000
Lorenzo Delco € 200.000 € 275.000
Total € 6.750.000 € 3.944.000

* William Chiarello was sold for € 1.000.000 + Richard Antonio Carapaz
* Joel Yates was swapped for Jaime Roson, who was then swapped for Nikias Arndt who was then sold for € 839.000

Other riders left us aswell, but fortunately on short term deals:
Name2023 Team
Martinos Moutsios-->Los Pollos Hermanos
Alex Mengoulas-->Binance
Panagiotis Karatsivis-->Ekoi - Le Creuset
Dimitrios Christakos-->Polar
Alexandros Matsangos-->Binance

Welcome to the final three

We are yet to properly introduce our final three assets, so here goes:

Sarris Evangelos 1.63 22yo Rouleur €50.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
68636568716864686969687169
↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓
76646671767268717474707272

Sarris is a versatile ridertype, and we aren't exactly sure yet which path he will find the most attractive. He's relatively fast, but not strong enough to be lead sprinter. He's pretty handy over the cobbles, but not quite enough to be leader material, and he is a solid timetriallist aswell, but mainly for the purpose of the TTT.

Overall, he's a very handy low waged domestique for multiple terrains, and we will have to investigate what might be the best long term plan for him. He will take a +2 level jump this season, so the plan is important to create sooner rather than later.

Leo Vincent 4.100 28yo Puncheur €80.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
70717768797270656771697069

Throughout the off season we have tried to evaluate our weaknesses and strengths. The obvious weakness being the cobbled department, but there was no good pick left, so instead we turned to our second weakness, the hills. After the decline of Clement Koretzky aswell as selling both Emmanuel Morin, Victor Lafay and Joel Yates we felt we had a bit of a narrow gap of succes. The development of Aimiliano Vila and the signing of Zisis Soulious somewhat covered the gap, but we decided that Leo Vincent was a solid fit.

Strong puncheur, who excels in the longer races, similarly to Clement Koretzky. Also a solid fit to our french sub-core of the team. Leo Vincent also have an age proposition that suits us very well, as an asset to either keep or sell on next season.

Richard Antonio Carapaz 4.100 30yo Climber €300.000
Fl Mo Hi TT St Rs Rc Co Sp Ac Fi Dh Pr
69807172717677505665716172

The final addition is a leader. Carapaz brings what we lost in William Chiarello. He's a very solid climber, and should work well in the longer and more recuperative races, much like Chiarello. He isn't quite as quick at the line, but we hope that he will get his chances to excel from 3rd week breakaway options, where it might not be the explosiveness he actually need.

Carapaz was a necessary addition, as we felt we couldn't go through the season without a proper GC leader, and he does bring us exactly that. What he also brings is a substantion rejuvination compared to Chiarello which was very much needed for the next season. Carapaz isn't meant to be leading the team in the future, but I'm certain that we will see him thrive with the freedom given at this team nontheless.

Training

It's early days, and might be a premiss for others to work around our trainings, but we aren't scared of showing what our plans are for the future. We are happy to present quite a lot of training. We have investigated multiple options, also some more training for a couple of the mentioned, but decided in the end that this was the best possible solution.

I would say a very good window for you in all honesty!

Plenty of funds in for those you sold and some great pick ups for those you brought in. You definitely got on the right end of what looked a one-sided deal for Chiarello to get the money you did + Carapaz who is younger and better as a pure climber.

Very intrigued as to how the team would look had you sold Coquard but he'll obviously continue to play a big part this season.

Loving the training for your riders from a project point of view. Not loving it as someone who will be riding against them all season
Gian looking a really solid rider now, similar to how Chiarello was.
A bit surprised looking at this that you didn't double up on Kiri's TT and rather went with Niko +1 but it does improve scoring potential across multiple riders.
Farantakis now an even greater threat in the sprints which will no doubt push his wage up next season but, with that PRL stat, he's surely going to have a good season!

Gian looking really good for the future, and he has a lot of years left for training! Obviously he wont be come a GT winner but will for sure have the ability to score significantly across most PT stage races!

Interesting that you peg Evangelos as a fighter/sprinter on first impression. I had him best under Fabian development.

Carapaz might have +1 MO compared to Chiarello but overall a much weaker rider. Chiarello scored +700 points 3 years in a row. I would be surprised if Carapaz scores much more than half of that. If he get’s 500 points I would think it’s a miracle tbh :-)

Giannoutsos is indeed very interesting. I was very much in doubt as to whether +1MO or +2TT. Ended up with the MO path for now as it allowed me to do the other trainings.

Ioannidis is 30 so it was the last chance to make him a 400-500 point rider, and I’ll desperately need that in the upcoming seasons.
I have other plans regarding Kiriakidis. I think he’s where he will end up with TT now. Maybe +1 more, but from then on it’s MO or HI.

For a long time I decided against Farantakis as I already had Coquard, but in the end I decided to up him now, so I could use him as the primary leader next season with some cheap trainings. Or op for 83 if I go full out crazy :-)

I was very much tempted to train Kortsidakis aswell, but I kinda figured he would then go to 77 and stay there, which I couldn’t make sense of.

Regarding Evangelos I have no clue what I want from him. I already have a fair few cobbled domestiques but no leaders, so I might not pick that path. Also to keep his wage down the allrounder might be the preferred option.

He will never be as good as Kortsidakis, Karatzios or Stavrakakis, and I have both Matsangos ans Mengoulas upcoming that is probably also better Fabian riders.

Actually played around a bit with sprinter and then invest a bit of training in him. He could be a decent sprinter with 78/78 f.e. at a relatively Young age.

I second this thought, with the only difference being made by the region, Central America in my case.

Also didn't quite get the fees I had hoped for. Another 500K would have made wonders to my long term plan of making Kiriakidis a top rider.

Yeah that seems very likely Pfft

I was very close to landing another 80+ sprinter to make create a GT sprinter setup Pfft

In the end I was a bit late to the party after having some trouble finding the right sales early Smile - Maybe next year Wink
