Volta a Portugal Discussion

Bad start from Phinney here, which could see him struggle to get the lead early on - still a massive pre stage favorite for stage 3 if things don't go to a breakaway rider of course, but things will quickly become difficult if he isn't capable of getting a great points haul from such a long race.

For us it's about what we would expect. Mavrikakis did OK'ish, Spanopoulos not so much and the rest are just really poor at prologues so they are now far behind. Let's hope this will invite us to break away on every single stage.

Nothing from Christodoulos and a bad start from Pogacar.

Foliforov 70 TT, 70 PRL. What is going on?

Expected zero burger from Pszczolarski. Shocking that 77prl isnt enough to win this stage...

Phinney already the best placed GC contender but needs to gain yellow quickly. Could be interesting but always a risk to see passive AI on the hilly stages.

Well shit. As said, I fear Phinney will "only" take it on Stage 7, but it would've ben nicer to loose to Grieg than to Foliforov.

Alright performance by Madrazo. Losing 7 seconds to Oomen is not ideal, but given the randomness of prologues, it's acceptable. Hadi with a good performance, too. If he can repeat that in the long TT, I wouldn't put it past him to sneak his way to some depth GC points. Thanks for the report and congrats Oleg to a very surprising win!

Foliforov  Drug test, please, I'm sure there's quite some Wodka flowing in his veins ^^
I guess daily form can do that, I've seen two-digit bonuses for PRL/TT in PCM18 at least, that's probably the same in PCM20. At least those who should've done well mostly are close to the top of the standings, so except for the winner I'd say it's a pretty reasonable prologue result.

Now looking forward to the next couple of stages Smile

Nice opener from Wohler. Interesting winner Grin

Prologue didn't mean much for us and results are always wacky, though Foliforov winning is pretty far out there even for PCM.

Good start by APP. I hope that he might be able to show himself a bit here, at least it should be a decent race for him. Will be interesting to see when Phinney takes the lead.

That’s a crazy result even by PCM standards. 70 tt/prl v Phinney and co. is unreal

Nice to have a few guys in the top-20 on a stage like this. I forgot what it was like to have a little bit of depth after last season. Now, into the breaks and hopefully Kolar and co can target the KOM here as planned Smile

Thanks for the report. Congrats Oleg too

Great win there from Grieg. Very surprising too...

Too bad Koretzky couldn't mingle a bit better there, as this looked like the kind of chaos he thrives in. Still 11th is solid. Mavrikakis also in the front group not messing up is very nice. I would expect him to be among the casulties today. Luckily not...

Too bad we didn't feel like sending a rider in the break though. We really need to play it more aggressive to have a shot at succes.

Congrats Grieg, a nice win. I had small hopes that El Sabbahi would compete in sprints here, but that was always a longshot. The Hadi GC longshot seems to be out the window as well Grin But the important thing is that Madrazo made it unscathed, so that's good. Hopefully we'll get someone into the breakaway at some point. Thanks for the report!

No silly time loss, good stage for us.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Trondsen! Lovely win, big congratulations, tastasol Grin

That was a stage for us where the bad outweighed the good. Good to have Bravo up the road and fighting for KoM points, very, very bad to have Mohoric loosing time. Hopefully it doesn’t mean anything for his positioning and fight for wins on the upcoming hilly stages.

All of our riders lost some time, hopefully that opens the chance for further attacks now

I guess I gotta take that at least my top two riders made the cut.

Araburu loses time, but with a few other puncheurs. Not sure what that says. Otherwise, another fine stage for us.

Great win by Trondsen, congrats! Gives me some hopes for Aregger in similar stages Wink
Ackermann, Korosec and especially Theuns clearly sub-par, while the pure sprinters probably didn't have as much energy left as the stage winner.

Nice to see Kemboi in the GC lead now, and good to see that none of the top GC favorites lost time. Disappointed to see Skuijns continue his bad run even with a new team, though...

Thanks for the report, and bring on the real hills now Smile

I don't like Storer's season so far. Second time he is on the wrong side of a split in an easy stage, throwing away U25 ambitions.

At least we had a rider in the breakaway. This should happen in as many days as possible!

They listen to me (except of Storer) Smile

Obviously a great day with Bayly in the break (which is his destinated role) taking the KoM and Wohler somehow fooling the pack to go for the stage. That's some very nice bonus points, where we only had realistic U25 ambitions with Storer.. with all of our better riders keep going to lose time, they will hopefully join Bayly/Wohler showing our colors in a similar fashion.
