Good to see Habtom joining the sprint, hopefully he does the same in the other 3 flat stages! He didn't pick quite the right wheel, but maybe next time.
The next two stages will probably tell us if we can expect some minor GC points or nothing at all - definitely hoping for some breakaway appearances and fight for the KoM, though!
Congrats to ISA, always good to see the top fav win a sprint!

Great stage for Guldhammer! Looked to be isolated and somewhat poorly positioned at the beginning of the final climb, but he came on strong to snag a podium. Unfortunately, no gaps, which sucks. On a hilly stage, I would have expected some gaps to count somewhere in that bunch. At least we get the time bonus, but obviously it would have been much better to take real time since the hills are an advantage for Rasmus.

Domination! Congratulations on the win, knockout
Very lucky that Galta did not loose time other than the gap to MAL and time bonuses. He did well on the final climb, managing his energy and taking a stage top 10. Looking forward for what is to come! |

Once again a stage where I really can't see what our strategy was. No attacks, and Masnada not up to his task, either. Given that several similar riders finished up front, that definitely sucks. Guess PCM can only handle about 10 teams correctly and ignores the rest... Guess Carrefour understand what I mean ^^
Really shitty stage for Aegon, though; there's really no way Olivier should get dropped on this stage...
Congrats to Evonik, though, well on track to seal 3rd place overall.

Turgis with a good start, but Kamberaj and Cort Nielsen both very disappointing. Would love to sneak a stage win or two to keep us in with a shot of a top 10 in the PT, but realistically I think that may be asking too much! |

Thats the Lopez i want to see. Dominant start, hopefully we see more of this
A bit unfortunate that the gaps behind were not recognized but well take the half minute to the big group too.
Thanks for the congratulations

Great start to the race with Degenkolb taking the stage and 1st leaders jersey - thanks for the congrats folks. As the big favourite on the day was sure something would go awry, so was delighted to see the way the sprint developed for John in the end.
Stage 2 was then a headache though as worried everyone might stay by Degenkolb's side throughout the stage to support the jersey. For once the AI didn't completely go bonkers, letting our GC leader Berhane follow up front to finish with the majority of contenders in the 1st big group. A shame our 2ndary leaders have given up needless time supporting Degenkolb when it was obvious he was never going to hold onto the jersey with the stage 2 parcours. C'est la vie. So the strategy now is simple (i) all rally round Degenkolb for the remaining sprint stages and a potential assault on the points competition , and (ii) on the GC days, all in the service of Berhane.
Dominant performance by Lopez that probably indicates he is going to own the GC here all the way through. Battle for the rest of the top 10 remains nicely poised for the upcoming stages.

Alarcon finishing in the main group is the best I could've hoped for. Looks like pretty much all of my scoring is gonna come from him, since all my other riders lost a lot of time.
Nice stage win by MAL

Decent GC stage for us. Let's hope this isn't a one off.
Congrats to knockout and thanks for the report!

Solid start with Eekhoff and Lastra in the breaks, getting some points through the U25 and KoM. Hopefully we can continue with the breaks.

Stage 3 was fine.
Stage 2 though ruined the race already... Really didn't make any sense there.
Goodbye PT and welcome PCT then. |

Really pretty much a nothing race for us so far. Guess Masnada was a little bit too close in the GC to join the breakaway - one minute more would have been enough (Garby). This especially hurts given that Philips are doing a great job with Penasa, and Carrefour now have a Top15 contender as well. So it's up to Habtom to show a couple of good sprints now, and then hopefully Masnada can get something out of the two remaining uphill stages.
Congrats to EA on a great win here! Alarcon did a great job as well, given his rather bad RES - and to see Lopez still in the race is great, too

If anyone can explain Cort Nielsen losing 14 minutes (11 to similar or weaker riders) I'd love to hear it. Sure that random fitness hasn't been put on for just him by mistake LLS?
On the positive, he might go in a break and grab a stage win/KoM now, as he did in Suisse. And we don't desperately need the points. But still frustrating... |

Godoy with a solid win. Garby also on a great ride there. Min still on the battle for the white jersey right there with Areruya.
Thanks for all the reports!

Love to see Godoy winning, one of my favourites. Strange to see Guldhammer and Monsalve give up like that though considering some of the names towards the top.

Alarcon is really doing his best right now
I was hoping this would be his best stage since there is so much climbing that he was able to make use of his race best 83 MO stat. Hopefully he can recover well now and stay out of trouble. I'm not sure the other two climbing stages suit him nearly as well, so it remains to be seen if he can hold on to a high GC place.
