That wasn't quite the plan Bolivar..
Great scoring for Xero, perhaps they aren't as doomed as their manager thinks they are
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Wow! Welcome to Xero Xandro Meurisse, what an absolutely brilliant ride, unbelievable! I had high hopes for us here and him as well with very good stats for it, but didn't expect such a strong showing even if I loved him and Rowe getting in the break. Debesay played his role perfectly for fourth and then great further depth scoring from Bester and Jams just outside the top 10. Also love seeing Stannard doing so well in 32nd, not in the points but nice to see his strength there for a lvl1 guy.
Still can't believe it really. Surely up there as one of our best ever races and one of the most impressive individual rides from Meurisse from the mid-stage breakaway, and then as a solo escapee to find the strength to stay with Benoot and then outsprint those two. Just amazing. Thanks for the report Gustav, enjoyed it a lot for obvious reasons but also for your writing
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Looks like our alternative strategy wasn't too far off with Hoelgaard in 17th and Smirnovs 11th. Maybe not the performance we might have hoped for, but still a strong one considering the points totals we got from this. Congrats to Jandal for the win. |

Wow, what a great race by Meurisse and the whole Xero team! Congrats, jandal!
Good to see Carlsberg and Carrefour giving the PCT teams a good fight. Honestly, expected more points going to CT here, with Omloop clashing, but well... They'll surely look for redemption in Gent - Wevelgem I'm afraid
Thanks for an entertaining report, Gustav!

This is always a joy to follow! A great report to complement the racing.

Thanks Gustavo. Genuinely disappointed by this performance, alas the next cobble race has to be better. Gratz to Xero.
I mean honestly, none of your cobblers exceed 60mo, this was always going to be a VERY long shot.

Yeah I was going to say much the same after reading the report - most of the climbing here will have been relying on MO, except the last couple of ascents when the pace increased. Hence Meurisse going so well, but also Medvedev, Hoelgaard, Hagen and Eenkhoorn all in the top 30. Had I checked the profile instead of just going "cobbles? no thanks" then I'd have sent Bettiol here, because it was always going to be a race where anyone with around 70 or so in both MO and COB would go very well.
That said, congrats to jandal - I feel less bad about how much you had to pay for Meurisse now and thanks to Gustav for a great report! |

Bob Schoonbroodt you absolute unit! Phenomenal race by him, 6th is everything I could have hoped for and more. 46th by Naesen is obviously pretty terrible, but as cio said, mountain stat would always have some influence here. Hopefully less so in Kigali with its shorter ascents, but great to see Schoonbroodt establishing himself as a serious option in these races as well!

What a brilliant race for Xero! Love it! Congrats jandal!
Also very nice to see so many former Evonik riders in the fight for the breakaway. Smirnovs the expected one that delivered well while also lots of other ones were active.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

This pair of cobbles have really just been nightmare fuel, more or less 0 points scored across 2(4) race days is not good enough, safe to say that we're not in good shape.

When De Vreese decided to go all in early, I had doubts about our chances long term with our elader isolated. But Sinkeldam looked comfortable the whole race and played his tactics almost perfectly. It would have been nice to get the win, but after a hard chase, he just didn't have it in the legs anymore. Benoot deserved 2nd and Xero put on a show to win and get 4th, so I'm more than satisfied with a podium at this level.
Looking at the results, I think my intuition that mountain would have some effect was correct. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy that it played out that way. This is the exact type of race Sinkeldam should excel in with his versatility, and it was awesome to see him fulfill his potential, beating even his old leader VSB. Hopefully more to come from him.
Awesome report Gustavo! A pleasure to read at the end of a long day.

Not familiar with PCM18 and the whole stat new stat allocation, Viana in PCM15 worked pretty well w/o MO stats in PCM15.

I guess I fell for the cobbles rating as well and didn't take the profile into consideration. Boev being the best placed rider of the team is pathetic. The breakaway attempts by Paprstka and Bovenhuis turned into horrible decisions in the end. Hopefully there's no more of such planning mistakes in the rest of the season.
Great race for Xero, congrats Jandal
Thanks for the report Gustav!
