In our last appearances in this race we have not had good results and this year I think it will be the same again. Still, I would like to see Silvestre being able to fight for a stage victory, and I wanted Willunga hill to be tough enough to leave the sprinters behind because that way Paulinho would have the possibility of a good final classification.

Having two previous winners on the start list is nice, but that was with a past version is PCM in a very different time. Hoping we can go well and would love a Top GC and a stage win on the hillier stages. Schreurs is the leader and I am hoping him and Dowsett can work well together... PCM logic may strike

Gautier back at his favourite race. Not quite his old level but hopefully he'll deliver anyway

Drapac was just shy of top 10. Nice KoM points tally for Grashev though.

Excellent 3rd place by Bouhanni, coming really close to the win there as well. Bit disappointing that Colbrelli disappeared after hanging on to the trains for bare life.
Thanks for the nice report, and gratz to j7

First podium for Strava, congrats!
And obviously a huge result for Houle - let's see if he can keep up on the uphill finishes, but that could be a very nice race for Xero!
And Guarnieri... Amazing start - 2 days, 2 podiums - you wouldn't think a rider gets better after a decline, but until now we definitely can't say it hurt him a lot. Nice start for the Salmon guys, too
Thanks for a nice read, roturn

So close, but we didn't have the margins on our side this time. Still a very good result, especially since this was the least favorable flat stage for Guarnieri due to the C2 climb close to the finish
Nice win for Xero! Bit surprised to see Houle run away with this stage, I have to admit. He's certainly put himself in a good position with regards to the GC now.

Great to see Wirtgen taking the KoM jersey, already ensuring he's earned some points for McCormick this season!
Big start of the race for Houle - if he can hold the lead, or Kump can move himself into it, going into Stage 3, then that could be quite significant.

Strong start for Houle and also Kump gaining valuable seconds from the get go. Borges didn't seem to be attentive at first but he eventually finished alongside Ulissi and Schreurs so he must have sprinted well. Every position can be valuable in this race.
Congrats on the win jandal!

Wow what a start! Unbelievable really despite being on the favourites list that Houle could win one of the flat days here but he got himself perfectly positioned in the final kilometres and a brilliantly timed sprint to use the slipstream to his advantage. Great to get in the ochre jersey and some bonuses and even if we fail in the hills we have something out of this race already. Though I really hope Houle does do well GC-wise even more now he has these bonuses up his sleeve. Not expecting him to repeat this or keep the jersey tomorrow, but if he can grab some more bonuses that would be great. If he can survive stage three and be the best part of a minute ahead of the puncheurs come Willunga that would be awesome, but it's a big if!

Top 4 is not too shabby, but would have liked to see at least a top 3, especially with Houle winning the stage. Massive congrats to Jandal!

Not the best start for Ivan, but not the worst. The best thing of day is the seeing of our new awesome jersey |

Probably the best start we could’ve asked for! Top 10 for Wippert was a great result! Good to see him take part in the sprint. And Scott in the break and now 8th overall and leader of the youth classification. And Edmondson across the line without any trouble. A great result for day 1. Keep it up boys!!

Big thanks to Wirtgen (and Mostov) for representing well.
Keough not so good but race is really beyond him, if he can show on 1 or 2 stages I will be happy.
Congrats to Jandal.

If my research is correct, that's Carlos Verona's first appearance in a Breakaway of the Day since Stage 2 of the 2017 Barbados Cycling Festival. So, happy to see him showing his fighting spirit once again.
As for Yates, wanted a little more than 20th but it's asking a little too much of him to compete with the top sprinters. Need more hills!
