Terrible to lose that much with ALL our riders already in the first stage.
We need to get in more breakaways now, to make up for the lost ground.
Thank you for all the reports you're doing at an amazing pace jph, I love it! |

Think that's the first time I've seen the team do a sprint train |

Well, 1/2 not really interesting stages (for us) done... Stage 3 will be the second one, hopefully we can somehow limit our damages.
Congrats to Glanbia, they're having a pretty decent 1st season! And thanks once again to jph for the report.

Well, things seems okay for the moment. Nice podium by Modolo.
Fingers crossed for Sterobo tomorrow! |

Nothing from Ranneries. it's a shame, but expected. Nice to see Ponce in the break.

Pretty solid start, shame Coppel gained bonus seconds in opening stage. Now onto extremely long TT!

Kreder in 5th is a nice surprise, so not a 0 pointer at least
Still want to see Bilbao do better in the remaining hill stages.

TT carnage is done, and we still have 3 riders in the Top 30 - I guess I can't complain
Thièry, Freuler and Pellaud all could do a big jump with a successful breakaway, and for Masnada a Top 10 could actually be doable with a bit of luck. Let's go!
Congrats to Carrefour for another big Coppel race - but we're of course hoping his low Mo will hurt him on the final day
And thanks for the report!

Janse van Rensburg deserves applause!
Claeys deserves pitchforks!
Now I hope the team is smart enough to send Claeys in the breaks, and try to defend JvR's position.

Nice ride from Higuita in the S2 break to move to 5th in the KoM, pretty much all I could ask from the team there.
Good stuff Stan! Overperforming slightly to sit in the top 5 tied with Koren, I like it, if he can stay there or even improve in the next two days I'll be happy with this race, particularly if Dyrnes keeps that KoM jersey!

11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Bilbao looks like he actually did a solid TT. Must be due to all that off season training
He is still far back in GC, so I guess breakaways make sense, but those have usually ended in disaster so far this season
Congrats to Carrefour, Coppel doing his thing

Huge gaps, which might have been a good thing for Gallopin and Ignatiev even though they're a 2-3 minutes behind Coppel. A top 5 looks very achievable now, but we need Gallopin and Ignatiev to have good legs and be well positioned going into those final climbs on the last two stages.

4th by Sterobo today and 8th GC is of course appriciated, but I would rather swap those placements with Modolo and Caruso performing 7-8 minutes better today
I guess Sterobo will fall like a rock now, but I'll happily be surprised again! |

Jeez, those were some insane gaps! I probably should have brought Steensen here instead of America, even though his mountain would have held him back as it has this year. But, you live and learn.
We're definitely losing some ground on Carrefour in this race. Congrats to them on a huge day!

So far, so good. Gallopin is strong as usual, and Ignatiev does well in limiting the losses to the other favorites. Hopefully they'll handle the longer hills on the last stage well, but it will be difficult to keep the likes of Koren, Nepo and Sepulveda behind.

I give Juul-Jensen kudos for actually trying to do something today. he was clearly strong. Maybe he went hard a bit too early, but that's the breaks. he might have saved another few seconds on GC by saving his legs, but I reckon it was worth the risk, and he now has 2nd on KOM for his efforts.
He's been stronger here than most of the year. Still, he's not really scoring points for us. Hopefully tomorrow we see more of him, in a good way.

Rowe missed out on his chance to win, doubt he has many left now
Koren as well was disappointing in the TT but he holds 4th overall now despite not being too convincing. I have to say, races like this we used to struggle greatly in but with Koren - even if just for a year, has given us a nice haul of points. No doubt an unsung hero in our promotion hunt!
