Just to note - reporting started early on this one, and some teams have mixed up equipment colours, which was an initial bug with the DB.
Pretty much as weak a line up as all season for Vesuvio with no maxed riders - Wirtgen doing alright though.

Great reporting on that second stage, covering key moments very well. Thank you, SN!
Cool to see Videika join the breakaway, which clearly cost a lot looking at his finishing position, but that's just fine. Having only Oss in the front group on a flat stage would be worrying for all other stage races we do, but here it's perfectly fine, and especially if it makes other riders go aggressive and try for the BOTD on the upcoming stages
Perfect teamwork by Evonik in the final kilometers, eventhough it did look like MVS had messed up for a second. Job well done to kick again and take the win. |

Fuck you Koretzky. No more deals with Festina!
Sucks so much to see Ganna not being rewarded for that amazing effort with a jersey, at least for a day.
I loved the attacking spirit of the team though, hopefully we can keep that up, in particular when KoM points are involved tomorrow.

Nice sprint by Vesely doing exactly what was expected here. Nothing wrong to lose against the dominant Evonik team and rider effort. Van Stayen easily the strongest here and Howard as well the faster sprinter. 3rd is totally fine and decent amount of points.
Funny to see how my team seems to be obsessed with chasing at the moment. |

Having experienced such time losses with Morton in the past, I feel sorry for those GC contenders losing a stupid minute due to unawareness. Even though the stage went almost to perfection for Bennelong!
Howard with a strong display again. A bit heartbreaking, as it looked like he could take the win for a moment. No shame to fall short to MVS though and the race lead is a nice bonus for one day. If it doesn't give our team troubles to handle the real leadership for Bobridge of course! The boys did handle it well in the past though (pretty sure we had a similar situation before, probably in Tasmania).

Jersey lost as expected, with Hamza in 3rd I am afraid there will be no breakaway fun, so most likely a boring stage for us on the 3rd stage before we get to see what Buchmann can do

Nice sprint from Kek in 4th, looked like he was really closing at the end and almost stole a podium! Just what I hoped for sending him here to steal a few points when we can. Positive for future races where he's the main sprinter away from Ricki and Rocket.

This looked like an amazing team performance. Those pictures with 8 yellow jerseys at the front look fantastic andit looked like a perfect leadout till the moment Becis was done. Dzamastagic looked like the weak link in the report but i dont care - victory is victory. Now onto stage 3!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Great show by Vanmarcke. And yes, a common thing in PCM18 is that a team that misses on the breakaway starts to pull heavily in the bunch to catch it or reduce the gap so a rider of the team jumps later

Indeed, is behaviour that only occasionally happened in PCM15, but as other reports have shown, is much more regular this year.

Yes it is indeed and sometimes not a single team. It's realistic and it's something I really like as it also kicks off the race, and in climbs/hills it happens aswell so it can really break things apart and cause damage early on too.

No excuses for not making that break, that was bad. If you miss it, chase it.

Shame we couldn't get more out of that situation. Wasted energy? No I would not say so, next stage will be the one true indicator

Argh. Slightly disappointed with the actual result for Howard. No drama though. He's in the mix.

Petit keeps on doing about what could be expected from him 5th and 7th is fine as a fill-sprinter. It doesn't give a lot, but atleast gives a feeling of being part of the race...
Nice to see Kastrantas taking some KOM points to get a few extra points in a race that seems to turn out negative with Koretzky's early blunder and the relative low amount of time gaps in key moments.
It will be interesting to see if next stage is one for the sprinters too, given how difficult a stage the sprinters survived in Tirreno.

Oss mixing it is nice to see. Would have been even nicer if he was slightly better positioned and in the first group, but that's a big ask when he's doing the sprint on his own. Farfetch flying winning both here and in Tirreno-Adriatico, congratulations again!
And wow, Dzamastagic clearly must have been annoyed by knockout's comment about the weak link in the train on the previous stage, seeing he was much too strong for MVS here |

Are we sure something didn't go wrong here? My team doesn't win things, let alone two stages on the same day (though it made a nice birthday gift)
Not great to see McCarthy losing time, but hopefully it encourages him to attack. Either that or Kemboi goes full Nolan Hoffman and clings on over the hills courtesy of his high RES - I can dream right? |

I should have known better than to ever doubt Dzamasmagic again
And f*** this stage. No reason why Van Stayen should ever blow up this hard this early in that finish. Also no gaps given? Meh
