Decent start. Bonus seconds > no bonus seconds.
The next stage should be about survival without any loss due wind and then hopefully there will be gaps in the last stages. Top 10 really should be the aim here for Sagan.
Congrats to Puma, Evonik and Isostar. Finally some race for punchy sprinters.

Always a chance to send Ahlstrand here but hopefully it will pay of in stage 2 ´cause the first stage was not good.
Congrats cio! |

Howard is crap. Good to have Dyball in the break though. Those minor bonifications may help to get a somewhat decent GC result after all.

I don't quite remember the arguments for sending Hagen here, but I hope it pays off big time on that stage 3 |

Interesting to see Vakoc being my best placed rider, eventhough I hoped this was a stage that could have suited either SHE or Vesely.
Looking forward to see what Vakoc can do on the final stage, eventhough expectations aren't high in such a field.
Cool to see the Demare-Van Stayen duel being very much alive. No doubts they're the two biggest favourites for this race, but obviously it all comes down to how stage 3 plays out. Congratulations on the win, cio! |

Intense sprint, congrats cio! Shaping up to be an interesting race, but all the drama is saved for the last day.

Well, I thought being in yellow would get us some good AI here, but that was anything but smart.
Having to close the gap before the flamme rouge in the wind was exactly that bit of energy that cost Demare the podium and therefore retaining the jersey, and it's very annoying. Could've been even worse than 5th though, to be fair.
Congrats to Aker for the great win, and to Evonik for sneaking into yellow for now!
However, all still to play for tomorrow, with a second place overall now being the least we can accept from this position, assuming decently attentive riding. Bring it on, van Stayen!
(not to forget, thanks for all the additional congratulations on stage 1)

I like how Tejay has been doing, I really hope he keeps his form for the last stage, this could be really fun then

Hmm, minimum points for us, this...
Tzortzakis not sprinting, Santos not sprinting, Bar not sprinting... No one in todays break.
Van der Hugenhaben as the only rider to possibly score more than 5 points from this race. Oh boy that is not good

Kristoff
After last season's mixed, at best, results in the sprints, I didn't really think he was capable of such. Big congratulations, dev! Must say I think it's great to see him win
Also briliiant work from Trentin. A pity Vesely didn't gamble on opening early when Trentin ran out of steam, or made the jump to the faster moving Evonik train by then.

Had this only been 2017, where he actually was with my team... You know, before he turned into a rider demanding to become our best paid rider by a country mile |

Thanks ember, gotta say I had my doubts aswell
First sprinter win for my team for quite some time now, feels pretty good. A few more top results by Kristoff would be great!

Congrats dev! Great win for Kristoff after his poor start on stage 1. Boeckmans looked very good 2-3 km before the finish, but unfortunately lost way too many positions. At least another top 10. Fingers crossed for Bakelants to really show up here in the final stage.

In my defense, that was the last thing I did before sleep for a good reason
Congrats DEV!

From me: I have to say I was anticipating Kristoff losing so I could make comments at the end about how he is more suited to PCT and just can't do it at this level
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Quite enjoyed that. Best performance from Boeckmans so far. Bakelants with another good performance. Creating a selective was always going to be the best we could achieve here. Obviously could have been better in the sprint, but I really like to see us attacking trying to win, than go for a 5th place. Gillett also with a very good that.
Démare > Van Staeyen confirmed.

Another disappointing race, really. This is starting to become worrying. Seeing 21 riders in the front group in the end, there's really no excuse for Vakoc not being there. Instead we leave with basically nothing, seeing a 6th place on one stage isn't going to cut it.
Big congratulations to cio93 on both the stage and the overall! Big race in the end for Puma, as it feels like they're gaining momentum. A pity for them the cobbles are approaching, but if they can stay not too far from a podium in the overall ranking after that, then they really should be up there the rest of the season.
Especially if Demare finds his sprinting legs in the GT he does, be it the Giro or the Tour (assuming he doesn't risk it in the pan flat sprinters fun in the Vuelta), it could even get interesting compared to Moser
Thank you a lot for your in-depth coverage of the sprints and final kilometers on all stages, jandal! Really enjoyed reading the reports here |

Really happy about this result, TVG best rider except for MVS and Demare (Congrats Cio). Much better than expected!

Argh. At least we tried. Bobridge with a move there. Dyball tried to get the KoM. Both failed, but okay. The GC result for Bobridge ain't good though. Obviously a risky move to bring him here and it didn't pay off. Gotta like the fact, that he tried to animate the final stage though.
