Particularly looking forward to the U23 RR of course, let's see if sending Herklotz was worth it. That B race certainly increases the odds.
Sütterlin in the TTT should surely aim for a medal with the German team.
There's also a tiny chance that Demare can survive until the end, but there's still a lot between him and the best puncheurs, and Gautier might get preferred AI treatment.

That's quite a mess from Denmark, which was a pity, as it would have been nice to see them in the A Worlds, where they should have had a decent chance at making the race interesting from far out with all those 75-78 hill riders.

Not sure what happened there but I guess the profile with all those descent had another priority than TT stat really.
The Netherlands had a very good allround team and best TT stats but were far off. Bad luck but back for next year then.
Shocker win by Portugal though. Not even in the 1* rating. |

Not sure if I ever saw an in-game-favorite (according to the pre-race screen) finishing that bad  no real surprise though with most of Australia's best TT guys being awfully bad on hills.

Not sure why do you talk about the downhills really. The teams that finished high had a lot of good puncheurs in their teams, the teams that finished low didn't.
If you look at Portugal's team, the worst puncheur is Figuereido with 72

Congrats to Portugal on an upset victory.
Four medalists in Haga, Barton (silver), Úran and Betancourt (bronze) but they were very close to gold, nevertheless great performance from them and their countries.

Looking at the team selections and the route: Was the route a surprise or did the selectors screw up nominations for most countries?
(No finger pointing but genuinely curiois because i cannot remember a ttt route announcement)

I remember looking at the DB and seeing a lot of the best riders no nominated. Think Italy was the worse I've seen.

That's quite an upset! Kind of nice to see that the route on such hilly TTTs/TTs makes a big difference. As Aquarius97, I also expect the results to be dow to the climbing, not the downhills. |
