@Sotd: I'm very happy with the price he ended up at, I really did think he could be outbid in the final few hours yesterday but thankfully he's riding for us next year instead.
@Croatia14: Thanks mate, I'm happy to add such strong riders from our home region can't wait for the season now! |

With Our Window during to a close we thought we'd start our annual team Presentation which will be spilt into 5 parts this season to begin here's a look at the young talents that will be riding with the team this year.
There is also a few new segment to our usual presentation which I hope you will all enjoy.
Team Presentation Part 1: Talents
Charles Matte [img-l]https://www.cqranking.com/men/images/Riders/2012/CQM2012019544.jpg[/img-l] | | | | | Role | Talent | | | | | | Overall | 70.83 | | | | | | Age | 24 | | | | | | 2016 Team | RBC Pro Cycling | | | | | | Wage | 50.000 | | | | | | Main Stats | MO 73, TT 69, Hill 69 | | | | | | XP | 4.98 |
Charles enters his 5th year with the team and 2nd at the PT level just slightly short of his peak. With another year and a bit more development he can become a good hand in the mountains and a useful stage race domestique for Taylor Phinney.

I'd so far guess that you are a clear Top10 candidate, if not even Top5.

Ahh right. So instead of 77/77/69 you take the bit stronger physical aspect. Not sure that would have been my preferred route, but not a bad thought. Maybe I should be looking into that option for Fabbro myself :-)

Yeah you got the TT side a little more and the Recovery for me it's slightly more rounded I'm a big fan of stage racing for development as you can see by Brown and Van Zyl |

Team Presentation Part 2: The Cobbled Helpers
Patrick Naud [img-l]https://www.cqranking.com/men/images/Riders/2013/CQM2013018474.jpg[/img-l] | | | | | Role | Domestique | | | | | | Overall | 71.19 | | | | | | Age | 26 | | | | | | 2016 Team | RBC Pro Cycling | | | | | | Wage | 50.000 | | | | | | Main Stats | CO 72, Hill 72, Flat 74 | | | | | | XP | 4.98 |
Patrick Naud a firm Canadian favourite established with his willingness to work for others in the peleton. Though he hasn’t got the greatest palamares he’s still a massively valued member of the team and will likely continue to be for the foreseeable future. For this year he’s getting to grips with a new team leader in Danny Summerhill and his attitude throughout the season should see him hit his peak next year.

Probably one of my favorite buys I’ve had in the man-game picked up for a small 100,000 3 seasons ago Johan has now developed into the perfect PT domestique he can go to any race at all and be a helpful rider to the team he’s great on the flat, a perfect TT filler, good on the cobbles and can still have the ablity to go and win from the break due to his good Punchuer skills a perfect minimum wage rider.

About to embark on his 2nd year as an RBC Rider Dan Mclay had a very mixed first season as a last minute signing he was brought in to fill holes in our calendar and as such did not progress the way we had hoped but with a 2nd season with us this year we expect him to help the cobbles team and reach his peak this season.

A mid transfer season steal with a 100,000 transfer from Ayubowen! A man who can boost our Cobbled, Hill and a somewhat capable sprinter Christophe is going to become a super domestique once maxed out and just like I was with Johan Van Syl two years ago i'm very excited by his purchase.

@Martii_Scots1 hopefully they can combine to great effect it should be a good season if that comes to happen.
@SotD I have no need for him as a lead out man though we have plenty of depth there whereas Summerhill next year is going to need all the help he can get so an extra 1 hill 1 cobble is more then worth it |

I believe that would be a bad choice. 74 SP wont be a good leadout anyway so one should focus on making him the best low wage domestique as possible. That will either be classics or cobbles. Even hills would be a better way than sprint imo.

First off a small sorry for my lack of activity particularly in this HQ this season i've moved to Australia the past 5 months so my wifi/spare time has been limited at certain points during the season.
To Start with we will run down our major transfer quickly from the last off season as i'm sure you've all probably forgot by now.
We got rid of some sub top leaders in David Boily(doing very well in the CT for World Cycling Centre at the moment), Kenny Ellisonde and Super Domestique in Jarlinson Pantano in order to free up some cash for training and to help sort our wages out to acquire Danny Summerhill in free agency.
We had 1,000,000 freed up to sign Summerhill so when he went much lower at 740,000 we had around 300,000 left to spend and picked up another leader in Leigh Howard and a talent in Robin Carpenter as well.
We swapped ageing Hilly TT rider Roman Krueziger for a young and sponsor region rider Joey Rosskopf and finished our transfer picking up young cobbled classic rider Christophe Laporte.
Rider | 2017 Team | Fee | David Boily | World Cycling Centre | €850.000 | Laurent Pichon | Strava | €800.000 | Jarlinson Pantano | Minions | €500.000 | Kenny Ellisonde | Ticos Air Costa Rica | €800.000 | Ryan Anderson | Goldcorp Nordstrom | €50.000 | Roman Krueziger | In n Out | Trade |
Rider | 2016 Team | Fee | Christophe Laporte | Ayoubowen! | €100.000 | Leigh Howard | Becherovka - Petrof | €1.500.000 | Joey Rosskopf | In-n-Out p/b Carrefour | €600.000+Trade | Robin Carpenter | Neo Pro | €90.000 | Danny Summerhill | Neo Pro | €740.000 |
Now for a slight overview of our season as we hit the final quarter.
First of all the lack of a puncher has hurt us massively in terms of our scoring Potential, as the lowest scoring team in the hilly classics this season we rarely made a top 50 in any Hilly race.
The sale of Laurent Pichon and David Boily and not to replace them was taking for two reason. Number 1 was to free up some wage in order to sign another leader which happened to be Leigh Howard, and Number 2 was that after Boily left it was between Pichon and Boivon to leave the team and although Pichon makes more sense from a sporting perspective I like my team to maintain a sort of realism to it and decided that a Canadian sponsor would not be impressed with 2 of it's most marketable canadians leaving the team at the same time.
Problems Like Danny Summerhill
This actually lead onto the next part of pre season - Training. Danny Summerhill has been the 3rd/4th best cobbled rider this season in a close tie between him and Seneschal. But it could of been very different he was planned to be trained to 84 cobbles for 90% of the off season until Boily departure. When my role playing mind kicked in and decided that the investment off one canadians transfer should go to another and as such Hugo Houle was trained +2 in sprint, which worked out rather well in Milan San Remo it has to be said.
For Summerhill he should have still had some benefit to train as Eric Young was trained +1 in cobbles to be his Main Domestique for the season. Until during planning for some reason I can't explain I didn't add Young to any cobbled races apart from the Soon to be run East Yorkshire Classic (also my home race in England).
So Although Summerhill may have had a poor season to some he's been held back by myself through lack of support and he should really have been trained this off season as well so I am happy with his two podium in E3 and Flanders and hope for a 3rd in the east yorkshire classic soon.
Some more early season Highlights were Patrick Naud win in Paris Nice always a highlight watching a rider you've had since 1.00 win any race hopefully when maxed next year he can make a mark in the Classics, and Taylor Phinney Obviously winning Herbies and riding extremely well in Tirreno.
The reason Phinney rode Tirreno and Not the dauphine became obvious to me looking at my Planning sheet now after the Tour, Praha and Herbies he has 10 race days left and it came down to either Tirreno and Tasmania or Malmo TTT and Dauphine, I couldn't see us winning Malmo so I went for the two races he could potentially win instead.
Now onto the Giro and Veulta both similar with Howard leading us in the Giro and Houle in the Veulta.
Giro wise two stage wins for Howard which could easily for been 3 as he on a sprint behind the break another day. Is a more then satisfactory return for him, after this year i've learnt he's in the 2nd tier of sprinters and he's more useful in stage races then trying to win sprinting classics and this Giro was a great example of that and his best ride this year by far. Apart from Howard we were quiet a sight mention to Joey Rosskopf who produced a few Breakaway rides during the tour.
The Veulta didn't really bring us the same joy this year. Houle went close on a couple of Occasions a 2nd and 3rd being the best of those but really his positioning (Mad for a guy with 78 Flat) lets him down over and over again and although i'm not unhappy I gave him the +2 sprinting training as it's cool to see him nearly Podium a monument in Milan San Remo. I don't think it's made him PT level and I can't ever see enough training getting him there as i'd need to train both Sprint and Accel to really make him a top level guy. However saying this he's great to have on the team for the once or twice a season he comes up with the goods and springs a huge result out of nowhere.
Elsewhere in the Veulta one of my Favourite stories of the season Happened, step forward Zachary Hughes a guy who was in the break 10 out of 21 stages and finished 4th in the KOM he's one of them riders you just grow attached to because they do exactly what they need to do to score some points and there's more on him in the next paragraph.
The Tour of Norway, Tour de Suisse and The Dauphine. We had really weak squads in all 3 with very bad planning at the dauphine as well (I sent Houle Boivon and Young so the game made Boivon the sprinter when Houle was suited to more stages.) To start in Norway Florian Morisot surprised me with a decent 10th on GC making this race worthwhile and adding more points then he's earned in the last 2 season combined a nice way to go out for his final year on the team.
Tour de Suisse nothing happened it's like we were not there and i Sent guys like Keogh, Matte and Carpenter who were never going to be competitive on that terrain Rosskopf did okay for a top 40 GC.
The Dauphine went rubbish to start with my planning was all over the place and it ruined the sprints for the team, but on the last stage in horrible winds one man saved the day again, Zachary Hughes came up with the goods Joining a stage long break finishing 7th on the stage 4th in KOM and a personal best 17th on GC Chapeau my friend what a ride!
Tour Heartbreak, Enjoyment, Devastation and Amazement
I am never going to enjoy reading reports of a race in the Man-Game more then these unless Hugo Houle wins Milan San Remo or Naud wins a Cobbled Classic from the break. First of Aquarius's report were unbelievable the detail and the suspense he created were better then any i've ever read.
For me Phinney finishing 2nd was amazing more then I could ask for, really he should of won he lost because he attacked every stage with such Panache he ended up losing time when he shouldn't (see: Stage 17) at points he had put himself in Yellow before the TT his attacks were that Daring it was a joy to see and only reinforced him as my Favourite man-game rider ever. Congrats to SotD and Spilak a worthy winner but if Spilak was the Froome and Sky of the Tour Phinney was a daredevil Bardet trying to steal seconds at any point and I loved him for it.
Finally and most recently Phinney won Praha again, It's not a surprise anymore the only surprise was he didn't win the Prologue as well but he more then made up for it in the TT at the end and this moved him into 1st place Individually in the rankings which he can hopefully win with a massive result in Tasmania.
Is there anything I would have Changed this Season
Planning wise Young should have rode the cobbled season and if I'm honest Boivon should of left instead of Boily it hurts to see him ride for another team but at the same time watching him win races is always a pleasure.

Just a quick thanks to all the reporters and organisers behind the scenes without them this season wouldn't be going so fast they deserve a lot of credit this year.
Finally Any man-game related questions about my team the game in general or anything just pop below and I will answer them. |

Awesome review. I'm always rooting for your cool team, though I've had crucial pain trying to go for your riders in my first season.
Well, Phinney did a good job and looked rather strong at the tour. And the latest ranking jump indicated why I put you so high in my preseason rankings

@Croatia thanks mate I always had a strong idea where the team needed to go after deciding on the idea, with regards to putting me so high in the rankings it's always a gamble when it's influenced by just one rider but Phinney has proven his consistency this and last season and kept us punching above where we should be |

Great review! It's really interesting that your plan was to train Summerhill to 84 this year, but at the end you scrap the plan and trained Houle and Young. I don't think he could have been able to beat Bewley anywhere, but that extra cob point might have helped him to beat GVA in Flanders. Are you still planning to train him next season or will you make Phinney to be more of a monster than he is now?
And really glad that you liked my TDF reports Other reporters don't do it this way, but i write the reports at the same time that i'm "playing" the stage, so what i write is mostly based on my own reaction to the gameplay, so maybe that's why i can create more suspense, as while i'm writting it i don't know what's happening next.
Also, why do you write Veulta instead of Vuelta?

Great review! It's really interesting that your plan was to train Summerhill to 84 this year, but at the end you scrap the plan and trained Houle and Young. The reports were epic great writing, the vuelta thing is just me being bad at spelling
For training wise I find it a bit of a question mark, I can't see myself training Phinney because it would lower his race days and his backup stats won't allow him to beat Taaramae in a normal tour and probably Herklotz will go past him if not this year the year after, which means one week tours and the TT races are going to be his thing and he's good enough to win these already.
So Summerhill really could get some training but i'd like it to be to 85 not 84 as i don't think the small jump would make enough impact, so that would be the plan unless I decide to actually buy a decent punchuer next year instead. |

WHY?
3 days ago RBC was going to be no more scanning the DB I had my eye on moving towards a American Focus (last seasons transfers even show that) with their being more talent and a bigger pool of riders (both in RL and MG) I felt I could affect there nationality in the game more then Canada as I had run out of option for training. So this was meant to be a farewell post and watch this space but... Then the nostalgia kicked in and as I was going through the results of the last few years races I had even forgot about (Boily in tour of Utah, Salas in the Bucks County Classic) I realised how much of an impact we have made and how we could probably do a bit more so this changed into an ethos post.
RBC NEW MISSION STATEMENT

- To Make a World Championships by 2020 MG
