Thanks, guys. Glad we got those solid talents. No huge deals, but fair enough with their wages. And I've been following their RL careers, so that's always a nice bonus for me
TRANSFERS #2 | KEY REPLACEMENTS FOR BURGHARDT & FORD
Today has been one of our busiest days in the transfers season 2017: sealing two big free agent signings to replace two of our biggest departing riders Marcus Burghardt and Michael Ford. Key replacements for Jayco - Cobra9, as Burghardt surely left a big scoring hole with no other serious cobbles contender on the roster.
Pieter Vanspeybrouck (30 years old) has to be considered our queen transfer this year. The classics specialist was without a contract after Bpost's disbandment and took the real opportunity for a big paycheck. We are glad to have made that addition though, as he should be capable of fighting for good results in those races, where Burghardt was our key rider the past two seasons. The wage ain't a big issue, as we focussed rather on cash than wages this year.
Michael Hepburn (26 years) is our second key addition this year. The TT specialist spent last year with the now also disbanded Metinvest team. An important piece to our TTT setup with Michael Ford now being confirmed to leave our team after four years. Hepburn comes with a more solid allround package, but will definitely focus on the races and stages against the clock. We're happy to replace Ford with another strong Australian timetrialist.
Stay tuned for more news, either from joining and leaving riders. A lot of changes to Jayco happened in this off-season. Some busy days, just like we love (and hate) it.

OH so close to getting him hehe, I hope he'll get you a few nice results and may even get you a win. I sure will be keeping my eye on him and the team.
"It’s a little bit scary when Contador attacks." - Tommy V
@Shonak: Hehe. Yeah, I guess I would have went a bit further though. All other options were pretty much out of reach for me at this point.
@SotD: Thanks for the kind words, mate. Definitely nice to read when it comes from a proven quality manager Let's hope you are right about us doing a good job.
Thanks, knockout It definitely worked out pretty well and opened some nice and well needed (planned) opportunities..
TRANSFERS #3 | THE BIG HELLO & GOODBYE UPDATE
Third and biggest update: as previously announced, a few big names left Jayco - Cobra9 via trades. Five riders were sold in the past days, so it's time to say goodbye to guys, that will surely be missed. But first, however, we want to introduce two arrivals, who joined us via trades with other teams.
Ben Dyball (28 years old) is back with our team after spending the last season as a loanee with us. We're happy to welcome him back, as he adds some well needed depth to our stage racing departement. Combining climbing and timetrial skills, Dyball may well become a key domestique for our main GC guys. There definitely has been a lack of scoring behind Morton and Penasa last season (who both hadn't the most luckiest seasons after all).
Richie Porte (32 years) comes from Vesuvio, being part of a trade that saw Wouter Wippert leaving Jayco. Porte has been linked to our team for a couple of years now and finally comes home now. The TT specialist (just like Hepburn) a more allrounded rider than most of our "flat only" timetrial specialists, adding solid skills on short climbs and stage racing. His succesful years with one of the best teams in the ProTour plus his experience coming with age make him a great addition for the team spirit as well.

As said above, we want to say goodbye to five riders, who will ride in new colours next year. A few of them have spent quite a while with our team, so it's kind of sad in a way. Obviously, we have to name two long-time members first: Michael Ford and Wen Hao Li. Two TT-beasts, who spent four years with Jayco (Oz Cycling). Ford is our all-time leader in stage-wins (9) and added a nice amount of classics (3) as well. He will surely be missed and it will be weird to see him in new colors. Good luck with your PCT-comeback with Novatek – Panarmenian.net, Michael!
Leaving the team for a 2,000,000€ fee, Marcus Burghardt joins another PCT team by signing with Podium Ambition. The world-class cobbler, now aged 34, should be a real force on this level. We hadn't the most luckiest two years with the veteran, but still Burghardt has been a key rider to avoid relegation in our first two ProTour adventures. Missing out on a single win for Jayco, his biggest results has be a 2nd place at the Ronde van Vlaanderen. We wish you all the best, Marcus!
After three years and five stage-wins (plus one classic), Matthew Goss is the next big name to leave us, joining the half-Australian PCT team Indosat Oordedoo– ANZ. Goss has been a valuable scorer in all of his seasons with Oz and we're thankful for his contributions to both our promotion back in 2014 and our fairly good ProTour results in the past two years. And of course his awesome World Championship title in our promotion season. With the already mentioned Wouter Wippert also gone, we gave away two of our best sprinters. All the best for you, Matty!
I will definitely follow Dyball's career in your team, it is a rider that makes me very sad to see him leave, but for the good of the team was the best solution.
I hope and I'm pretty sure he'll be quite successful at Jayco service.
A couple of good and solid additions in Dyball and Porte. Will be sad to see Goss leave, will always remember his WC win - but seemed like he peaked that day
@fintas: Thanks, mate. We're definitely pleased with this solution.
@tastasol: Goss.. yeah, definitely never lived up to the rainbow kit But to be fair, he did quite okay in all of his three years with the team.
TRANSFERS #4 | TWO TALENTS & LOANS
The management is still busy and so we can announce two more signings today: while we probably won't see any big moves in the coming days, we're still happy to have agreed terms with two more talents from Australia. Both will spend their first pro-season as loanees in the CT though.
Robert Power (22 years old) once was considered Australia's next Grand Tour contender, when he impressed in his junior years (racing alongside Jack Haig). His career, that hadn't even started yet, then came on hold, when a knee injury did not heal as expected. The talented young Australian rider had a rare form of bone marrow edema: "There's no treatment. The one thing we do know about it is that it will eventually come good, but obviously the question everyone will ask is 'when?' and we've got no idea. The literature says it's anywhere between four and 24 months," said his medical Dr Barnes when Power still had knee pain back in late 2015.
Anyway, Power is back on the bike and we feel confident that he may become an important piece to our future GT setup. He's definitely still showing the potential to turn into a good climber. His debut season in the CT (probably riding for Repsol - Honda, as things stand now) will be closely followed.
Chris Hamilton (22 years) is another promising talent from Australia, who we wanted to give a chance to approach to professional cycling this season. Proving his potential in the domestic cycling scene, Hamilton will also start his pro-career riding as a loanee (most probably on PCT level). He prefers short hills, but comes with a solid allround package. Maybe a future support for our captain Jack Bobridge? It's now his chance to show if he's worth the shot.

Unless he goes down in wages for next season I don't think 95K for a 75COB, 74SPR 71ACC rider is low, is it?
I mean. Riders like Havik, Kurth, Domene, Nepomnyachsniy, Zhupa, Veelers, Abraha, Lagab, Weber and Kuroeda are all between 50-80K.
I guess the flat stat is what makes him more valuable. Haven't really figured out if there is indeed a difference between 74 and 77 FL stat when it comes to domestique riders who are not leadouts.
Nope, definitely a good deal still. I just never had more than 90k cap space this time. Plus TTT support was more important and I got a decent bargain there.
Yeah, knockout, that's what I wanted to read I somehow agree with SotD, that he ain't exactly a steal. I'm still happy to get him for less than 100k. He should be a nice asset when maxed.
TRANSFERS #6 | FINAL THREE PIECES ADDED
The transfer season is approaching it's end and so there's no more big news to be expected. We had a few busy days anyway, signing three more riders to complete our "income" for the 2017 campaign. It took a few days to finally announce the most important of those three late additions:
Trent Lowe (33 years old) is yet another Australian joining Jayco - Cobra9 and we are really looking forward to his input on and off the road. Our most experienced rider on the roster, Lowe will mainly function as a road-captain and mentor for our young guns. But of course we are aware of his skills on the road: Lowe will be a key domestique for mountainous stage races. Something our squad is still lacking.
Mark O'Brien (30 years) joins the team for the same reasons. The climber makes his comeback for Jayco after being part of the team in our promotion campaign in 2014. After an one year hiatus from pro-cycling with some notable results on the domestic level, Mark is given another chance to help Australia's premium cycling team. He will probably only spend a few race days with us though. Anyway, welcome back!
Our only stagiare this year comes from New Zealand: Anton Cooper (22 years) did not find a team to pick him up on a full-time job. We want to give him a chance to gain experience in maybe a few late season races and definitely in the Tour de l'Avenir and a few U23 events.

I love your setup to be honest. And while you were not far from the relegation spots last season, I have you as a heavy contender for a top 5 position. Well put together, and not a lot of riders under development will see you perform very well.
Happy to see both Bobridge and Morton receiving training. They are slowly but steadily becoming top top level riders. Especially Bobridge with his mini-Trofimov-esque stats is briliant!
Morton still lacks some acceleration, but he might well be the nemesis of Lecuisinier yet again :-)
Some nice training done....and both still quite young especially Morton.
Only thing thats missing is a real top sprinter both I guess you will do great without that, and leaves maybe more pts for Ahlstrand
@SotD: As said before, it's always nice to read positive feedback from a title-winning manager. Highly appreciated analysis as well. Not sure if we can go for a deep run into the Top-5 contention, but I also feel confident about this small rebuild with three key riders being sold to train Bobridge and Morton. The latter needs to step up his game now. He should crash less than he did in his GT appearance last year though
Vanspeybrouck should be capable of scoring a similar amount of points like Burghardt did, while Saber certainly needs training. Speaking of training, I will probably throw too much cash at Haig in the coming years anyway
@viking: Ahlstrand can sprint as fast as he wants to I will follow all bunch sprints with a neutral interest.
