Not a bad sprint from Boonen to get 8th with 73 acceleration. I hope De Maar can follow that with some of his cunning aggressiveness as the race goes on.

Congratulations to TMM, looks like a big points haul coming your way.
Hope Klemme can keep us in the title race.
Not sure why my sprinter is 5th in the KOM? Better give him a talking to.
Merry Christmas one and all.
EDIT Matt posted stage 3 at the same time as this post (ho ho ho), thanks for the great report even if it wasn't quite the performance I was hoping for from Klemme. Congrats to the_hoyle, Dowsett delivered in C2. The Polish air suits the Podium Ambition boys worse luck

That is a result I will take in a race like this ten times out of ten from De Maar. Solid ride, and he's right in contention where he needs to be.

Diggle finishes 8th alone after attacking the rest of the peloton early enough to build a gap and late enough not to be able to join the 7 in front of him. Certainly mixed feelings about his results!
No mixed feelings here, that was terrible and not worth coming onto daily today for

Got my hopes when I saw Milan (judging by the number on his back) at the front of the pack but he blew up. Kinney was too far back to really get involved. If I remember last year correctly his got better towards the end, so I hope he does the same now.

If that leadout had fucked up just a little bit less Manarelli would've won, definitely the strongest one out there. Yet I'll take second for now hoping he can win the final stage.

Boonen might have gone a bit too early, but with his horrid acceleration, he needs to launch early to compete with the top speed. 7th is a great result for him anyway. Hope De Maar can follow it up now!

Unbelievably average again, so glad I chose Barcelona as the choice goal instead of this. Nzeke showing some form means we could get two GC top 10s if we're amazing on day 6.

Back online properly after Christmas (ho ho ho Merry Christmas everyone!) and I'm sober enough to post a response to the Stages 3-5
Stage 3: Amazing from Alex to finally take a good win against the big names of CT. He showed what he could do in ToSA, and I thought that was going to be his shining light - Dowsett, you have proved me wrong
Stage 4: Like Stage 2, no sprinter so happy just to be safe and sound in the peleton and defend yellow. No dramas and congrats to TMM for the win with Soupe.
Stage 5: If Stage 3 was possible turning point for Alex, then this is a sign that he is back on fire! Takes the sprint again, on a climb that worried me after his performance at Euskal Bizikleta and thought lightning might strike twice again. Hoped for a time gap looking at the pictures, but bonus seconds over GC rivals are still good enough.
Thanks for all the report matt, especially with it being Christmas, and I will eagerly await the remaining ones

Tough fight by De Maar again. He's clearly outmatched in terms of power and team help, but is still doing a great job hanging on and staying in the top five. Hope that continues!

Lloyd likely to just get 2nd in the KoM which is a shame, Diggle podium spot no consolation as he's still 7th.
Can this season please end soon?

Last stage has to be won by Manarelli to achieve the stage win goal. Kinney did all he could but it was always going to be tough to match last year's performance.

Queen stage survived! Very happy about that and just a flat stage left to confirm the GC victory. Sprint stage with all the bonus seconds mopped up by the break will do me nicely.
Congrats to spilak on the victory! Thanks again for the report matt

Great sprint from Boonen to notch a top five in the final stage. A great race for us overall actually. 5th and GC and some decent stage placings. I'll take it with the way things have been going.
Thanks Matt for the great reporting! Really thorough!

All goes well on the final stage and GC is wrapped up! Very happy with that and Alex does us good with a nice points haul towards promotion.
Congrats to spilak and TMM for the GC podium and Marcovdw on the final stage win.

BOOM! Final stage and we achieve the stage win goal. Manarelli finally gets his first win of the season in style! Whereas Kinney and co. disappointed a bit GC wise, Manarelli makes up for it here!
Thanks for the amazing reports as always Matt, and congrats the_hoyle on Dowsett's victory
EDIT: Oh wait, I actually had top 5 GC here as goal
