Salleh doing what he seems to do best, winning the peloton sprint behind the break. I think that's the 3rd or 4th time this season he's managed that now.
Kung finished well in the bunch which suggests he was attentive in the wind and even though there were no official splits or time gaps I'm going to take it as a good sign that he will be as attentive in the GC stages.

Its time, anton..
Wonder how the hilly stage will pan out, surely it will cause some selection atleast.

Nice, Kasperkiewicz in the break, just 2 points short of the KOM lead hurts though, hopefully he joins the break on the final stage (Guillen will prevent him on the next two) to chase it. Either way, nice to see him involved.
For the GC race, Pomoshnikov stealing some important time, hoping Anton's not great earlier stage means he can finally shine at the end now.
And of course congrats Scorchio on the win and thanks Selwink for the report.

well that was not top-notch...might be a crucial time-loss to Pomoshnikov already, quite surprised to see him up there without a handy acc...
now it's going to be very tough, but a podium is quite well in sight...

That was very much a "meh" stage. Not worthy of a gif either. Come on boys, do better or worse, just don't be invisible average!

YES! Oh God... YES!
Haavardsholm's going to flippin' win it! And as for Mr Magnusson...
YES! YES!
YES!
My God, I haven't been this excited since flippin' De Roon's flippin header.
YES!

As you can tell, I am easily pleased.

Happy days are here, the Scottish/Colombian alliance delivers - great victory for Galindo Rodriguez on stage 2, ably backed up by Moreno and Karagobek just outside the top 10. This puts WCC in a great position for the upcoming stages, although many good riders well placed to challenge.

Wow, Kung's not been the same since his crash at Langkawi. I know injuries don't carry over but he's been underwhelming in all his race ever since.
I expected a better performance from him here as he shouldn't be losing that much time. Hopefully he attacks to try and gain some of it back on the final stage but he hasn't looked capable of that in his last couple of outings and despite him looking good on the flat stage he still had a bad day on the hills so I'm not really expecting it.

Happy for sammy, especially after he complained Salleh can only win sprints after the stage victory is out of reach!
Thanks for the reports Selwink!

Ok, point proved, I take that back, Good work Salleh, you definitely proved me wrong there. And you've got the points jersey as an extra reward there

Kung, are you going to take inspiration from Salleh and get back to what you're capable of and prove me wrong too now? Kamzong is only a minute up on you, I want to see you at least attack him for that white jersey as I think the GC win is now out of your reach but that and a GC top 10 shouldn't be.
Team meeting over, go and get some rest and prepare for tomorrow's stage.

Stages 3 and 4 have stayed nice and quiet for WCC in terms of defending the lead, so all down to the Bealach-Na-Ba on stage 5. Been good to see Scot Hassan in the breaks for Schuh of late and chasing the KoM points. After a not too un-subtle reminder that his contract is only for 1 year, Brenton Jones has showed some better spirit after an appaling stage 1 to pick up a decent 4th and 8th places the last two stages.
Fingers crossde that the jersey gives Rodriguez Galindo the morale he needs to hold off the challengers, but the likes of Pomoshnikov and Anton also not too far back are far superior in the mountains so is a big ask. Look forward to the final report.

Nice second place for Hassan on Stage 4 as well. Good to see him in breaks mopping up KoM points to keep Konwa's jersey safe. Konwa in the stage two break that gained him the KoM lead was also very good, hopefully he comes out to defend it tomorrow. Also, good performances from Dowling (4th, Stg. 2) and Selig of late (8th, Stg. 3 and 7th, Stg.4). Hopefully they can keep these great perfomances up. |
