Stage 2 is up 
I'm really sorry about the bad finishing screenshot, every other angle either ended up in the mountain or just really bad and this was the best I could get.

Hmmm... Morton should be able to do better than that. At least he was amongst those trying to hang on, it seems. Still, finishing a minute behind Pinot is unacceptable 
Nice to see Gillett in the break. Hopeless for our riders here, but trying is all I could ask for!

Great start to the race.
Bryan Coquard came and did what could be expected of him - To take a few odd points. 7th in the sprint and 2nd in the U25 competition before falling for the timelimit was about what I had hoped for.
I really struggled to pick the lineup for this race as I thought that Tzortzakis could probably get a top 3 in the first stage and then possibly survive for the 4th aswell, but I am really happy that I chose to go for Coquard instead. A massive amount of riders (and sprinters) are out of it already, meaning that we could likely see a breakaway win on the 4th stage, despite Howard and Grosu still there.
The 2nd stage went perfect aswell. Spilak won the stage which obviously is the key thing, but also took the GC lead, the points jersey and a joint KOM lead atm. So big points in that early win. Also important is it that most of the top riders are not so far behind that they can expect to just roll away from the pack with 40km to go.
I fear for the strength of our team though, now we are to control things. I tried picking the strongest possible team (deducting Ricco and Lecuisinier), so we should be able to keep the gaps down atleast until the 79+MO guys try to do their thing. From then on it is down to Spilak to do the right thing.
I am hoping he can win this race and take atleast one more stagewin here, but it could be chaotic with so many strong climbers joint in one race. I am looking forward to the next stage to see what we can do

Good start for Petit - shame about the time limit, but 9th is about what I would expect in such a strong sprinting field. Good performance from Pinot on Stage 2, and Elissonde was around where I expected as well. Now hopefully to keep this up, and maybe win a stage or two from a break. |

Great to see Oscar Solis in that break, and he'll be wearing the KOM jersey for the next stage \o/
Hopefully Rein can carry on as he is, and hold onto the top 5 spot until the end of the race, which we'd be delighted with.

Decent effort by my team in the opening stage, decent result for Howard even I hoped for something more considering the startlist. Great win for Maksimov.
And so Velits continues to dissapointing me again and again, even Fothen was able to beat him in a mountain stage... Not good enough at all. Decent efford by König showing himself in a breakaway, good job by Howard too, hopefully he can survive the next stage too.

Was not really happy with opener but second stage was much better with Jose clinging on to the 85 ites. Spirak on the ascendancy over Madrazo who still lacks that killer touch.
Holloway at least hung on hoping we can give a stage 4 sprint a crack.

I'm late to the party here, but first, thanks for a nice preview, sdanny!
Cool to see Holst Enger try his luck on the first stage, and 12th place is nice from him. Maksimov though, that's something. A pity he won't be able to try again on stage 4.
Stage 2 was admittedly a disappointment from Martin. I had some hopes for him here after his very encouragin riding in the mountains earlier this season, but looks like he's back to where he belongs now, and arguably a little worse than that.
Luckily no big gaps were created to the majority of the top 10 contenders, so he should still be in with a shout, but he needs better daily form to climb up the rankings.
Congratulations to SotD, Spilak doing just what you ordered. Will be interesting to see how your team and Spilak himself goes on defending the lead. |

Congrats to SotD. As expected, Nibali is nowhere in sight. At least we got Mathias Frank in the breakaway. Oh well, there are several more opportunities for disappointment to come.

Complete failure from Degenkolb here. Losing stage from such great position against Maksimov is highly disappointment. Then missing time limit again...
At least we could finally see Jaser´s Syrian National Jersey on picture
At least Roche showed himself in great light. Nice fighting spirit!

Things are looking OK at the moment
Leading everything but U25 and Team is really nice. Seems like my sub-climbers are doing pretty well at keeping those breakaways on short leash for most of the stage. I still fear for a group of top riders getting away with 7-8 minutes at some point, but for now I have to enjoy things.
I look forward to that 4th stage and see what could possibly happen there. My guess would be a breakaway, but who can go into it? So many decent climbers in the race, will any of them try?
