Also Valverde and Sagan were at the Giro presentation. Neither has ever ridden il Giro and Valverde was there anyway for Lombardia. But Sagan did not have much reason to be there so could be intresting him doing Giro next year.
about the route itself: I would've much preferred that the Sella Ronda stage was the 20th stage. Keeping the hardest stage till last never works out well

He is missing a top 3 in the Giro to be a part of the club of riders who have finished in top 3 in all the grand tours.
I think Giro-Vuelta for him next year would be great. Considering how the field in the Vuelta often is a bit tired, coming from the TDF, he may actually be in serious contest for the Vuelta overall, if his legs are good. |

Pordoi-Sella-Gardena-Campolongo. You can ski around it in the winter and cycle around it during the summer

I know Sella Ronda from its bikeday where several tens of thousand people ride it on a day and no cars go. Pretty amazing climbs to ride. https://www.sellar.../news.html

Ah, ok. Yup it would have been epic with that stage as the 20th, imagine that stage instead of the relatively easy mountains near Madrid in the Vuelta. Absolute carnage! |

Wow. They go by the place where I used to live until last year. Would have loved to see them go up my morning go-to-work/university hill... There are even some cobbles before the "climb". |

UCI have released who's applying for WT and PCT licences for next season https://www.uci.ch/pressreleases/206-t...n-process/
Looks like we'll still have 17 WT teams as nobody's stepping up and Colombia is missing from the PCT list
Hells 500 Crew and 6 x Everester
Don Rd Launching Place
Melbourne Hill Rd Warrandyte
Colby Drive Belgrave South
William Rd The Patch
David Hill Rd Monbulk
Lakeside Drive Emerald

So it looks like Drapac and Colombia will be added to that list, not sure what happened to ONE though. The whole Tharcor thing sounds really confusing to me, not sure why they have that as the official name if they're still racing as Southeast. Garmin don't even seem to be mentioned in Cannondale's official name either.

Got to say it's bittersweet to hear Basso drawing the curtains unceremoniously on a great career, but smoothly transitioning into a nice role off the bike. For some reason, during the TTT at the TdF I was focusing on Basso and appreciating his contribution, and I guess that image/emotion sticks with me knowing that was the last race of a great rider.
As for the Giro I think it would be awesome to see Valverde. I remember on pcm he very uncommonly showed up at the Giro and I was so excited if he did lol. Now I'm imagining this epic duel between Nibali & Valverde on such an open-ended route |

Philadelphia Cycling Classic (or whatever it will be called) levels up to 1.1 in 2016 (having been 1.2 previously). Not the hugest news but it's one of my favorite races on the calendar and i'm very happy to see it grow.

Philly International is a proper classic. 250 kms and thus was always deserving of it's HC status. Good to see it's back on the up again.
edit: just checked and it hasn't been 250 kms since they downgraded from HC to 1.2. Let's hope they go back to the old distance

When they merged Vaughters did say Garmin would be stepping back to a minor secondary sponsor so it makes sense that the licence application is Cannondale.
Also both One Procycling and ActiveJet will be applying for a PCT licence with the latter announcing a new sponsor.

Boeckmans spoke to the media for the first time since his coma.
He says he'll do anything he can to become a good rider again.
Can't remember anything of the crash. They say hypnosis can change this but he doesn't want to go down that path |

Wish him all the best in his recovery and really hope to see him in the pro peleton again pretty soon |
