And those Pre-TDF-Team-Rankings are really nice, still 4th, didn't expect Tinkoff to be that high at this point of the season!

Well this is a surprisingly weak field. With Pluchkin as the clear favorite, I think that Amador should definitely be able to podium if things go well. We really haven't been able to close the gap at all in the rankings, and I have no expectations that any result here will change that.

Hopefully Uran can perform up to his standards in his final race of the season. I would really appreciate a 600k waged rider scoring more then 150 points. Lets hope for the best.

I´m not happy to see such insanely strong field of sprinters. With Swift, Bewley, Van Stayen or Lo Cicero here I really doubt AI will allow to build sprint train for Degenkolb.

Pluchkin easy winner if no disaster happen to him.

Thanks for preview and updated rankings.

Well, this is hopefully going to be a good race for my team, I am really excited!

The big surprise for me is that Jesse Sergent actually has a chance to win the prologue or at least get a podium. The competition of great GT riders is not as tough as I have expected, Velits should be ok to go for 6th place overall hopefully with at least some decent stage results.

The sprint competition is tough as expected, but hopefully it means that other teams will help us to give breakaways no chances at all to stay away. It will be interesting to see if my team will provide Bewley a sprint train - Boivin isn't really the best option to start a train, Vesely is an ok choice though, I probably should bring Sagan here instead of Vuelta... Swift has the edge over Bewley because of that I believe.

Because I have leaders for both MO and SP I probably don't have any chance to see my riders going for breakaways, even through Kratochvila and Vysna would indeed have a chance.

Great preview, can't wait for the first report!

After shoving a weak(ish) team into the Vuelta, which saw me score a stage win and that was about it, I've pulled my big guns here (minus Ponzi). A lead out train for Guarnieri, which will be pointless as he's not a top 3 sprinter, but has a far better lead out train than the other sprinters. A mountain train for Cattaneo - but he can't get over hills. Plus an option for the TTs.

All in all, expectations are for a stage win along the way, and for Cattaneo to finally show some of his promise. I've been paying his large wage for far too long for far too little.

Would be really good to be up there for the Team GC as I sometimes am. Depends on how much my riders sit up once the main favourites attack in each stage. I suspect breakaways for Good Energy will be few and far between.

Crommy
This is, as they say, it. Do or die time for Bouygues, our fortunes for the rest of the season lie almost purely with how Rein Taaramae does in this Tour.

Can he win it? Possibly. Pluchkin, Amador and Alarcon are better up the mountains than him, but he's better over the time trials and the hills. But with only 40km of time trialling compared to 4 MTF, I think the crucial areas he needs to gain time are the hills, but even then, only 1 hilly stage looks like it realistically offers time gaining potential stage 16).

He needs to be in the lead going into stage 20, with a fair bank of time, to have any chance of winning, because that last mountain stage looks brutal.

Our official goal here is a top 10. Anything but a top 5 would be disappointing. A top 3 would be expected. A win? The second best moment in the team's history (Moreau in 2007 is obviously the best).

My personal preditiction:
1. Pluchkin
2. Amador
3. Sicard
4. Taaramae
5. Alarcon

But I can honestly see those five finishing in any order

Good luck everyone. Well, maybe not that good of luck Pfft

Talking about pre-race rankings. It's sad to see how my team keep falling... I'm afraid that after TDF now we will be in a relegation spot...

Rein takes the first stage. Good result from him and a great start for his team.

Monsalve didn't loose too much time, and that was pretty much the goal of this stage

tsmoha
Now that's kind of a start for Rein!

Slightly strange feeling to have no TT beast at the start. Glad Morton did beat my best (O'Shea, 75) though Smile

Thanks for the report SN, it seems that big boys are hot already. Great 2nd from Pluchkin, of course Rein in yellow right from the start is not ideal, but if we should be winners of TdF, we need to beat the strongest, not hide somewhere and hope for quiet race. Cool

Congrats Crommy, the battle is on! Smile
I'll be back

Bonnet decent in 20th place with Valls doing alright in 32nd.

Neither good or bad. That's what I like to see Pfft

1-2 in the U25 competition is very nice. Didn't see that coming to be honest. 10th from Paillot is his best result all year, and then to do it in the TdF, is really cool.

Lecuisinier doing well from the start. Now to hope that no U25 sprinter will do anything interesting and that no young riders attack Pfft

Wow, massive win for Taaramae. What a way to start the tour! Also great start for Pluchkin, hoping he can get a good GC after the bad luck he's had here before.

wackojackohighcliffe
That's fine, I knew Dombrowski was gonna lose time so half a minute sounds about right.

That's a good start from Martin, I can't ask for more. Taaramäe and Crommy off to a flyer, congratulations!

Now it should be all about Swift and Bewley with a couple of other 83 guys being up there as well. It will certainly be interesting to see which team that will form the third train, assuming there will be three. Hopefully Kristoff can pick a good wheel and be able to get a top 10.

Thanks for the report, SN.

Henao could possibly be in contention for a top 10 here. Either that or a stage win will be fine.
