No expectations here, but it will be entertaining to watch the big sprinters battle it out. I brought some decent flat guys, so maybe we can sneak one in the breakaway or Dillier can get a decent result in the TT.

Win goal for us here, but I'd consider a top 5 a huge success. Hoping for some of the luck that deserted us in China. |

Really looking forward to see Van Stayen in action for me after his training. Bewley and Swift should be unbeatable, so I'm hoping for a 3rd place here.

Well, after such a horrible start in Badaling, we already need some better results here. Top-10 for Goss hopefully. Here's hope he will be in the mix right from the start.
Kinda expect Ford to lose time prior to the TT, so he won't be in the mix for the stage I fear. Durbridge though should be able to survive the flat stages.
Just give me some hope to be competitive

Nice preview with special paragraph dedicated to newly promoted teams. We wont set the world on fire here. When Guardini is not even on the sprinters list, that shows how packed this startlist is.
Anyway, some top10 from Andrea could be nice and possible, but in GC he stands no chance with his horrible prologue stat. Hoping for top5-10 with Zmorka there, if he wont be far back prior to last stage.
Good luck to all!

It'll be interesting to see how the F1-style bonus seconds approach will affect the GC here as it's a good indicator for the several HC/C1 races to come that will feature it as well, and the TTers will certainly hope for a very diverse Top 10 field so not too many second-tier sprinters get out of reach as well.
With some wind adding extra emphasis on the FL stat, I can't see past the sprint trains of Becherovka and Pokerstars delivering their sprinters a Top 3 each here.

Either we want 20 different sprinters scoring small seconds or we want the same three scoring it all
It would be really cool for us if Tzortzakis would actually do well (one top 3) while our other riders just try to go for attacks.

Great sprint from Van Stayen. Fourth is good, considering how far back we were with one kilometer to go. Nice to see that we get a train, but unfortunately Van Avermaet doesn't stand a chance against Howard and Van der Lijke. Hopefully that changes for the better on the next stages.
Bewley and Swift on the first two places is no surprise. Congrats, Roman!

Can't complain with that. Strong leadout and a nice 2nd place - Bewley always hard to beat, even more so with Howard as leadout. Pokerstars clearly a big victim of Van Stayen's training - no leadout for them.
So Van der Lijke looks like being my main leadout rather than Merino Criado. Same sprint stat of course, Lijke the stronger on the hills but Merino with the better ACC - marginal difference between the two though I guess!
A good start, hopefully will continue.
Bos 16th

Guardini finishing 86th right after Napolitano, WTF? At least Zmorka was around 50th place, but some sprinters here did not seem bothered to even sprint and one of them was Andrea.
Congrats to Bewley for expected win, Ayubowan! already snatching surprising podium, i think this will be the pattern throughout the year...

Cracking start for us - Vanderbiest came from a long way back to take 3rd there. More of the same to come I hope, and with his strong prologue stat this could be a good race for us.

Just noticed that too, i was not aware those bonus seconds will be so huge. Now i doubt that any TTist bar Coppel can do a top10 in GC.

I feel very fooled now.
How can someone like Bos participate in the sprint trains and get a decent 16th while Groenewegen in his 2nd season appearance has not even participated in a sprint yet?
I did not expect to really show something on those stages with 25 better sprinters. But come on. Theo Bos?
At least my GC riders were really well placed, which give me hope of a good GC showing here.
Bewley with the obvious win here.
Pokerstars though must feel bad. They could dominate with their train here. Instead Degenkolb is on his own. They better hope for improvement on the next stage.
Also nice to see Alex Edmondson with a decent result here as 36th for Red Bull. |
