We started the season with Down Under Classic where our highest hope was on Ahlstrand to sprint good but he wasn´t the only Swedbank - PEAB rider who was eager to race! Sten Stenersen was aggresive and made it to the break and was active there but the peleton reeled in them but then Thomas Vedel Kvist made a late attack and fought bravely and managed to end on 3rd place and Ahlstrand sprinted in the peleton behind to get 11th.
Next race was also Down Under in Tour Down Under, Martin Reimer was our man here he rode great all through the race and ended 2nd in GC, we also got 3 podium place on diffrent stages Martin Reimer took 2 and Kristian Haugard Jensen 1.
We got the chance to ride in ProTour aswell in Tour of Qatar, but the team could not show any great results at all beside Phan Age Haugard getting on 15th place on the last stage, a ITT.
A very short February Preview
We will take place in Bayern Rundfahrt where Jonas Ahlstrand is our sprinter and Hoogerland leader for the hilly stage. We have also sent F.Johansson P-A Haugard here for the ITT.
We will again race in ProTour in Paris-Nice. And rounding off February with Gisborne GP. |

(Sorry for the wall of text, I´m not great with design/tables etc. as many other of you guys )
It´s been a while since anything been said in here and a lot of races has been raced.
We started in Germany with Bayern Rundfahrt, on the first tage Jonas Ahlstrand managed to sprint to 2nd, the rest 4 stages was not very succssesful from ourside.
After that it was time for Hoogerland to lead the team in Gisborne GP and he did it well and ended on a 5th place.
In FBD Eire Tour we had a hard time getting any result but then on stage 6 the team wanted to change that and Reimer sprinted to 2nd and Vedel Kvist was close behind taking 3rd. On the last stage Wetterhall went in the BoD and the peleton could not reeled the break in and Wetterhall was the strongest and won the stage!
Duo Differange, a race for the best Time Trialists in PCT, our two guys took the 7th place here.
Time for France, Corisca International. Jonas Ahlstrand sprinted to 4th in the first stage that was almoste everything worth mention from our point a view.
In Tour of Vancouver Thomas Lövkvist raced very well on one mountain stage and thanks to that he could hold on to 8th in GC.
Tour de Romandie was the last raced before this update and it went well for us, Reimer took a 3rd place on stage 2 and that was just a little warm up before his win on stage 3. And he followed up with a 5th place on stage 4, thanks to those good sprints he collected enough points to win the Points Jersey!
Another PCT standing update have been revealed today and right now we sit on 20th place but we haven´t been racing as much as other teams and there for compared with race days and points we right now sitting on a 9th place instead. |

Some very nice talents there...
Ahlstrand is going to be one of the top 5 sprinters in the world next season.
Also Haugard, Blikra and Ludvigsson's are going to be very interesting for the future. I am bit sad that Magnus Cort is so extremely slow though, as he IRL is a very fast finisher - And also mainly a puncheur, not a climber. But he will be very interesting to follow nontheless. If he was at my team I would spend some money on him

Season review/Last season update
Much has happened since our last season update.
But lets start with a recap of our season goals.
In our home race Scandinavia Open RR we had a top 5 goal and Martin Reimer did ut for us winning the sprint in a small group for 3rd place. Hoogerland also managed to get in to top 10. A very good race for us. After that we had another race with a Top 5 goal this time in Norway.
Unfortunately the team was not at it´s best and could only get a 25 place by Hoogerland. Lets move to another country in Scandinavia, top 10 goal in Post Danmark Rundt. Aswell as in Norway we could not achevie the goal but this time we was very close with Phan Age Haugard at 12th only 7 seconds up to that top 10 place and with Freddy Johansson just about 10 seconds after Haugard it was still a rather good race for us despite not completing that goal.
Summary of our goals:
| Goals | Race | Successfull | Result | | Win | Down Under Classis | No | 3rd s.t Thomas Vedel Kvist | | | Top 5 | Tour of Norway | No | 25th Johnny Hoogerland | | | Top 5 | Scandinavia Open RR | Yes | 3rd Martin Reimter | | | Top 10 | Post Denmark Rundt | No | 12th Phan Age Haugard (only 7s from acheving the goal) | | | Top 10 | PCT Standings | Yes | 10th | |
As seen on the last goal we ended the season on a solid 10th place in PCT, thats a result that we and the sponsors are satisfied with. But 2/5 goals done is a bit disappointing but it´s still acceptable seeing we were very close getting 4/5.

Our best race for the season must have been Baltic Chain Tour were Jonas Ahlstrand showed his huge talent in sprints, winning 2 stages, the GC, U25 aswell as the points jersey.
We also made or debut in Tour Of America , PCTs own "Grand Tour".
We had some success there with Lövkvist rode in the Yellow jersey for a long time but on the last mountain stage he could not fight Berhane from Eritel longer who became the winner instead. But Lövkvist can still be satisfied with 2nd in GC and winning two stages.
Over and out!

Nice review Viking!
Pretty solid season from the scandinavian setup of yours, you are somewhat near mid table of PCT for some years now, iirc? Next year can be the breakthrough year for Swedbank i hope, with Alhstrand finally maxed out to the total sprinting beast, who should dominate the PCT division for you.
Missing some of the goals just by a bit is unlucky, but i like that you went with goals connected to region you are building your team from.

@Avin
Thanks mate! Well this season is much better then those before, we been aroun 15-20 the last season so this was a nice jump up!
Yeah, Ahlstrand really needs to deliver and we need to have a good transfer season aswell if we will go higher up. Our already quite weak hilly leader, Hoogerland getting old and will get his first stats decrease before the next season.
Mhm, next season the goals will be more spread around the world I guess Ahlstrand dont really conect well with the route in Norway and Sweden
That said if not Scandinavia Open RR will go back to the flat race it was some years ago |

With Lövkvist going into the last 100% season, Reimer and Ahlstrand in especially, you have a nice trio for next season.
Blikra and Bertillson coming back will also help your depth and second being part of the leadout.
Then the improvement of Cort Nielsen, who should do fine in PCT as 2nd option, same with Ludvigsson and Jensen.
I feel like you could attack the promotion spots finally. But you definitely will need another point scorer next to Ahlstrand then as Lövkvist alone won`t secure that. |

As always when the season goes to it´s end rumours start to flying around,
Regarding new signings to Swedbank one rumour has been mentioned more then others and that is a rider that stands without a team for the next season, Robin van der Hugenhaben. Hugenhaben seems like a good fit for leading the team in hilly races for some seasons before the danish talent Kristian Haugard Jensen develops to the new hilly leader.
There has also been some small talk about Hugenhabens teammate this season and former Swedbank - PEAB rider Michel Kreder.
Another team that are disbanding is Venchi with interesting riders like Sean De Bie, Mike Teunissen and Ole Haavardsholm but those riders ain´t likely to be riding in Swedbank - PEAB next season.
And as always the team looking for talents in specially Scandinavia.
But as always rumours are rumours.

A couple of Norwegians available. I like that, even though Stenersen/Blikra/Haugård are all listed under most likely staying. Won't be surpised if we talk during transfers.
