@cio: It wouldn't be transfer season without us two trying to swing sort of deal
@Donovan: I knew you would be interested in him, look forward to some talks later on
@sgdanny: I'm curious Mandri?
@Count: Good to know, although I will admit I would have to miss out on 5 riders to get to him on my list.

Some nice riders indeed... Too bad Pinot became so excpensive. I think he would be amazing with some training though. Roux, Vanderbiest and Kadri are very strong riders. I hope they will perform well.

As you can see, this may be the weakest PT team ever. But, there are some useful additions. Pinot will lead us in the Mountains, and despite lacking in the TTing department he has amazing ability to suffer. Alongside Gautier and our new top sprinter Vanderbiest he has improved during the offseason, and will likely do so again in future.
Vuillermoz and Le Bon join to give us support in the Mountains, alongside young French talent Dulin and Sri Lanka's dominator of the domestic climbing scene Sisira. Also joining us from Sri Lanka are young talents Fernando and Rajapakshage, a puncheur and a TTer respectively.
In Roux we gain another strong Puncheur, with Kadri slightly weaker on the Hilly stuff but packing an explosive finish. De Souza joins and will develop further into a very strong domestique for the Hills.
We also added to our TTing department, with the signings of Bouet, Bret and Racault - all of whom are fairly one dimensional but can be big engines for the flat. And finally, we strengthened our Cobbles department by signing Gaudin to lead, and Martinez as support for when he isn't being used as a sprinter.

Success for Sisira and New NC Jerseys!
We sent a team to Australia for the pre-season criteriums, consisting of Sisira, Nugara, Fernando, Sandakelum and Rajapakshage. Expectations were low, but in the second criterium Asela Sisira took the victory from a breakaway. While not an official race, it's still the first win for a Sri Lankan and a succesful airing for our new jersey.
Also, aidanvn13 has once again done a superb job with our NC jerseys as in seasons past. Below is the French RR champions jersey to be worn by Cyril Gautier, and the Sri Lankan RR and TT jersey, to be worn by Ishan Sandakelum and Dane Steve Nugara respectively.

Interesting approach on the NCs - they look a lot like default ones, but very stylish none the less. Also nice to see you picking up the first win of the season, I'm happy we're in seperate divisions though with jerseys so similar.

Mid-Season Review - PCT Beckons
As we hit the halfway point of the season with the start of the Tour de France, I figure it's time to look back at the first half of what has been a pretty poor season for us. Admittedly, considering we effectively left a million of our wage cap unused and are running on the budget of a PCT team, it's not that bad but it could still be a lot better. So far we have 4 wins, and a few other podiums, but we just lack a big points scorer like the teams around us have. Romain Vanderbiest has probably been our rider of the season, but it isn't a difficult accolade to win.
So, for the best results so far - presented in mainly picture form because talking about it makes me sad. Hopefully we'll win a few more races on the way to the PCT crown next season...
Vanderbiest finishing 3rd on Stage 1 in Qatar, on his way to 4th Overall
Kadri wins Stage 2 in California from a breakaway
Pinot finishing with the Maglia Rosa, on his way to the Maglia Bianco and 16th Overall at the Giro
Gautier taking 9th in Liege-Bastogne-Liege to cap off a great week in the Ardennes for him and Kadri (2 Top 20s each)
Pinot wins the Vuelta Queen Stage atop Luz Ardiden on his way to 16th Overall
Gautier wins Stage 4 of the Tour de Suisse from the break
We'll be releasing information relating to next season during Le Tour, so keep watching... |

Goals Recap
Our goals going into the season were, it can be said, rather ambitious. And then we missed out on Romain Sicard, and they became absolutely impossible. However, it wasn't all bad - let us recap just how near or far we were from acheiving them...
Win Tour of Qatar
We failed this goal, but we actually did pretty well - Romain Vanderbiest took 4th overall in arguably our best showing in any race this season. So, we can be hopeful that we will get some sort of recompense from the sponsors, even if not as much as we would have liked.
Win Tour de Suisse
Ha. Ha. Ha. Well, Cyril Gautier won a stage? An Alexis Vuillermoz and Thibaut Pinot took 20th and 25th in GC respectively? And Vuillermoz took a joint win in the KoM? That's almost equivalent, surely? To be fair, even with Sicard this would have been a top 5 for us at best, so failure was always inevitable - but not expected to be so dramatic.
Win Tour of California
Ha. Ha. Ha. Mark 2. Again, we won a stage and actually did better on GC - Kenny Elissonde taking 15th overall, and Blel Kadri taking our first PT stage win. Elissonde was 3rd in the youth rankings as well, but I feel like I'm just clutching at straws. Once again though, even with Sicard this would have been a top 5 at best so I say we dodged a bullet not signing him. Honest...
Top 3 Vuelta a Espana
Ha. Ha. Ha. Mark 3. For the third time, this was a race in which we won a stage - Pinot taking the queen stage for our first Grand Tour stage win. Pinot and Vuillermoz took 16th and 21st in GC, and 5th and 2nd in the KoM respectively with Pinot 3rd in the youth rankings so I can call the Vuelta a success from every perspective. Except you know, the one where you look at achieving goals. And Sicard would have been somewhere between 3rd and 5th in this year's field. So yeah, thanks Pendleton's and Orange. You contributed to my decline into alcoholism.
Avoid Relegation
This may still happen. I've been sacrificing to the Gods - literally any God I can find - all season long, hence why you may have noticed the disappearance of some of my riders, so I hope my faith will be repaid. Otherwise Damien Gaudin was a waste in more ways than one. It's not impossible that we stay up, although it's less likely than me correctly organising the World Championships (I have another screwup to own up to soon). But I'm happy to say that even with Sicard, we would still be in the relegation positions. And we'd be screwed for the future. So a happy ending for everyone really. Unless you're one of the riders I sacrificed to the Gods.
Join me next time, for a look at what moves we'll be making in the transfer market. Well, hopefully. Last season taught me that your planning will be ruined by external forces, and the only move you'll make is for the bottle of Scotch on your desk. |

Nice recap of the goals, and without Sicard they are very difficult to achieve as you mention. Let's hope you can avoid relegation at least

Looking ahead to 2016
With this season nearing it's climax, it's time for my annual early September look ahead to the transfer season. I do love a good transfer deal, and by the evidence of the last few seasons I also seem to love a bad one. So here's the handy breakdown of what the future holds for my team, in an interesting fashion as I likely will forget a few of my riders along the way.
Firstly then, it's important to consider that I'm planning for the PCT. And I don't know if any young talents will be available, and if so how good they will be. But what I can say, is that barring a sudden influx of French and Sri Lankan supertalents, there will be riders who not leave in any situation - and of course the Sri Lankans, because no one else should have them except us (well ok, the talented ones). Those riders are:
Thibaut Pinot
Kenny Elissonde
Asela Sisira
Nidush Nirantha Fernando
Tushantha Rajapakshage
Cyril Gautier
Adrien Petit
Then there's the second category - the riders who I would be happy keeping, but who I would also happily let leave if I could acquire someone I considered an improvement. Bare in mind that my idea of an improvement includes Level 1 riders who won't be any better for the next three seasons, but in the long run will be useful - because for the first time I can be competitive and have talents which is nice. Those riders are:
Alexis Vuillermoz
Johan Le Bon
Anthony Roux
Christopher De Souza
Ludovic Bret
Dane Steve Nugara
Romain Vanderbiest
Yannick Martinez
Ishan Sandakelum
Then there's the third group - the riders who will leave one way or another. Either they're too old or simply not good enough to make it worth my while keeping. Some will be released, while others will be renewed because I know I can cash in on them. Those riders are:
Alexis Dulin
Blel Kadri
Maxime Bouet
Ronan Racault
Laxmen Wijerathna
Damien Gaudin
So that's the brief transfer overview that I know you all love. Hopefully you'll see the riders in the "possibility for upgrade" section and start salivating, offer me stupid money or a rider I want and everyone goes home happy. Similar to this season, I am aiming for a uniquely French and Sri Lankan team. But I've learned my lesson from this season's futile campaign so while I will aim to sign French and Sri Lankan riders first, if I can't secure one of decent quality I will aim to sign the next best option that speaks French, English, Sinhalese or Tamil as their first language from the Free Agency pool. While not something I want to do - and something I hope to avoid - it may just be prudent in order to survive in the PT when we hopefully return in 2017. |
