So the Tour Mediteraneen is cancelled completely now.
Obviously many teams were annoyed by the long transfers. |

Hillier, harder L-B-L with Col du Rosier and Cote de Maquisard back on the route. Nice! |

It would seem we are in for a change of date for the World Championships come the 2016 edition in Qatar, due to the heat in the region at that time of year. That change is going to make preparation for the event interesting, from a rider's perspective:

That's after Lombardia as well, very interesting. Think it's a dumb change but interesting nonetheless

In my opinion that's a good decision, because in September it's still fricking hot in Qatar.

Yeah the whole decision to give the WC to Qatar was just silly, but if you don't want to have grilled cyclists than you need to postpone the race till it's a bit colder there

That's like moving Paris-Roubaix because it's often cold and rainy in France in early-April

Exactly. It's part of the race.

The difference is just that during Paris-Roubaix it might be cold, but it's still bearable. In Qatar it will almost certainly be about 40 degrees plus the climate is different there. Believe me I was in Dubai in summer 2013 and I just couldn't go into the sun, let alone doing sports, because I would have died
I mean I also don't like that it's raced before Lombardia, but I'm just thinking about the riders' health

Not too much unfortunately
So you're probably right that they should keep the usual date, but in my opinion the world championships should have never gone to Doha.

I don't see why it shouldn't have gone to Doha. Qatar has hosted an excellent Mens & Womens Elite race for a number of years, always well organised and one the riders enjoy traveling to early in the year. Nothing against the route, it's exactly what was expected. Flat race but with some "cobbles" could open it up to the stronger men or late attackers, or it could be a chance for the purer sprinters, their first since 2010. Looks solid if not as exciting as the hillier events look on paper (yet rarely are).

Dennis' Hour Record attempt is being streamed live by UCI. From what I can tell, it is not location specific (like the World Champs etc)
I've found it on cyclingnews website, but it also on the UCI's youtube channel

Can it be anything else than Contador announcing his retirement after the season or a contract extension?

Sagan to undergo sex change and ride in women's league?
When is the Tirreno presentation, incidentally? |
