Hoskins (Orica) won Stage 2 of the TDU in a sprint finish. Bonzini came good in the Stage 3 sprint to win for Wiggle, Hoskins was 2nd and GC leader Scandolara 3rd. Difference this time being only 11 riders were in the front group gaining 6", which is an eternity so far in this race.
https://www.procyclingstats.com/race.p...58&c=3 - Provisional Startlist for the Ladies Tour of Qatar. 4 Stages long from 3rd-6th Feb. 2.1 Level race. Almost identical to the Mens race except minus a couple of stages.
Big names slated to start. Lizzie Armistead, Ellen Van Djik and Romy Kasper for Boels-Dolmans. Lucy Garner for Liv-Plantur. Gillow and Lucinda Brand for Rabo-Liv. Shelley Olds for Bigla. Hayley Johansen... i mean Emilie Moberg for Hitec. Emma Johansson and Scandolara for Orica. Trixi Worrack, Tiffany Cromwell and Lisa Brennauer for Velocio. Elisa Longo-Borghini and Giorgia Bronzini for Wiggle. Elene Checchini and Rosella Ratto for the Italian National Team.
It's a stacked startlist and the racing should be great! No idea on TV coverage atm but should be some somewhere for sure.
So the Womens Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (horrible name imo) is tomorrow. Same route as the mens race, just shorter at 113km.
Gotta be honest i was hoping for a stronger startlist, but international interest in the event is minimal. Orica of course have a good line up, Gracie Elvin i'd guess as leader. Wiggle are there as well with Bronzini bringing some star quality. Otherwise it's a load of National level teams. The only team of major note is the Roxsolt squad, which is a collection of big name top-tier riders. Cromwell, Rowney and Martin are the main names in that squad.
Potential for a very interesting race but compared to the Mens event line-up and coverage it's just really really dissapointing.
Rachel Neylan continues her amazing summer of cycling and wins the Cadel Evans Race. She attacked on the final climb and just time trialed it to a solo victory, and really powerful display. Scandolara was second +46" ahead of Tessa Fabry in third +48".
Looked like a really great race. Plenty of action and excitement, probably more than we;ll get from the men
Annalisa Cucinotta wins the opening stage of the Womens Tour of Qatar. Powerful sprint finish ahead of Bronzini and, after a terrific lead-out, Tagliaferro. All Italian podium.
Winds and agressive racing dominate Stage 2 in Qatar. Ellen Van Djik wins with a 3" gap ahead of Worrack and Armistead. Hosking and Johansson were also in the second group just ahead of Longo Borghini. Main peloton quite a way behind.
Again the wind plays it's role and shatters the peloton. This time a relatively big group stayed together for a bunch sprint. Lizzie Armsitead won ahead of Shelly Olds and Lucinda Brand. With bonuses this moves Armistead into the GC lead.
I think this fits into the womens cycling section. Kicking off right now is the largest group Everesting attempt with 25 amazing women taking on one of Australia's best climbs in Mt Donna Buang 17 k's @ 6%https://www.facebook.com/events/58256...138541180/
I will be heading down for some Sherpa (domestique) duties in between shifts at work. The Hells500 crew are predicting hundreds to roll laps in support and what a quality event to show what women can do on a bike.

Lizzie Armitstead doubles up with a second consecutive stage victory to also claim the race overall to win the 7th Ladies Tour of Qatar. No better way to ensure your place in the race overall than to out sprint your rivals for the stage victory.
The route for the inaugural AMGEN Womens Tour of California has been confirmed. Stages 1+2 are based around Tahoe Lake, using roads familiar from the 2011 mens race. Stage 3 is basically a crit in Sacremento. The three stages take place just before the mens race begins. The ITT event is a separate race taking place the same day as the mens time trial. Both are 2.1 rated.
Eyes will be on Ale-Cipollini, Optum, UHC and Velocio as the big teams. But also the cream of domestic crop will be in attendence. Should make for some great raceing
