Come on! Not this again!
And you'd think that Brambilla would step up as the team leader but he seems to be weaker than his usual self as well.
6 riders in the top 42. Yet no notable result

This was a decent finish by Keizer. It looked far worse in some screens, when being quite far behin in almost a 3rd group.
Feel sorry for alexkr and Oleg. Both riders could have top5 here. Now they probably won`t even top10.
And it sucks with most of the sprinters gone. Guardini was so promising in the opener but is already out. Sbaragli and Frison with him...so at least Schädlich is still in. |

Despite Guerao being a heavyweight favorite for the sprints now, I really am not happy that so many teams sprinters are already out, as it seems very realistic, that all the remaining flat stages will be breakaways. I hope I'm wrong though.
Really sucks for Alex, and I hope Henao will bounce back and get a lot of points.

Degenkolb with 61MO OOT, while some "fifty-something" sprinters still in? Sick.

Pretty poor stage that, but could of course been a lot worse. Other teams had a nightmare of course henao again is very unlucky, particularly here and kritskiy is a blow to tinkoff.
But Santos just sitting in the sprinters group is annoying, he could have had sprint chances then again is acceleration is poor so I have my doubts. Of course other teams again were worse hit VW for example
Actually should be pleased with a guy second in KoM and really you would suspect there will be a bigger selection at some point and it is whether Jose can make that.

At last a victory from Machado!! I've been awaiting this the whole season, and it has finally happened! I guess it's more than likely now he'll get the leader's jersey
It sucks for alex though, having this happen repetitively...

Terrible luck for alexkr00, feel truly sorry for him.
By no means convincing from Contador to be beaten by Suaza on such a stage, but on the other hand it's great that he was able to gain some seconds on both Velits and Denifl. Also a relief to see Antón up there after his crash, guess we just got lucky that he isn't injured like Henao.
With Van Heerden out, it would be cool to see some of our guys allowed to join the breakaways on the flat stages, as it should be possible for at least one of them to stay away on the coming flat stages seeing how many sprinters who were forced out of the race.
Thanks for the report, SN! |

Henao
Great to see Machado winning though. Still loving this jersey and team, so gratz, Gusta! Also Amador proving that he will be here to defend the title. And wow, those DNFs! Can't say i'm a fan of sprinters out of contention that early, but hey, it's part of the gamble here.

Thanks for the support, guys.
I guess Henao felt that one leader crashing frequently wasn't enough for my team

You seem to have managed to carry the rabobank curse through your variation of dutch teams Alex |

Great report SN, very exciting stage. First of all congrats to Gustav, what a well deserved win from Machado. Very strong ride from Bajkovic as well, he's very dangerous now. I think everyone feels for Alex and Oleg, such a bummer. Amador is sitting in a perfect place though, definitely needed that time on Alarcon and Contador.

Curfs had a great ride today, which I'm very pleased by. Stauff dropping out sucks but now Stallaert gets a chance as lead sprinter. Which will be interesting at least.

Sadly, you're right.
I think it started when I joined the PT though. I don't recall having these kind of problems in my first year in the ManGame. Coincidence or not, that's also about the time I signed Gesink. I wonder if he's the one carrying the curse and if I should sell him

Cograts to Gusta, his team finally got him a deserved win, nice thing to see! On the other, I feel bad for Alex and Oleg, it is never a nice thing to see this. Great report SN, though, thanks.
I am quite happy with first two stages. Howard did a decent sprint, Velits did a decent start as well and Howard survived that 2nd stage. That are really good news before the next two stages, but my hopes we will see two sprint finishes for a win are not really high.

Damm, just like Tour de France, Henao and Kritskiy Maybe they can attack together early in one of the mountain stages!

As soon as they are healthy again, we should talk more about that

Congrats to CrueTrue, his team did a fantastic lead-out! I am really happy with the 2nd place, to beat Guerao side-by-side is always a nice achievment for Howard.

Kennaugh still on fire!
It's ridicolous tough luck that history keeps repeating with guys like Henao and now also Ratiy going down with crashes. Ratiy sitting up reminds me of Dauphine (or was it Suisse?), so i assume he may be injured.

Kritskiy looking fine without injury, which is good for Oleg at least as he might go for a stage win now or still get a decent GC.
My team should join breakaways on the flat. Vanmarcke would have no other reason to be here without Guardini now.
And it`s kinda ridicoulous that the good classic riders like him are in almost every split. |
