Do you also use "Hundred" for the time? I often hear f.e. "Sixteen Hundred" to indicate 16.00 instead of using "16 o'clock"?
1600, as in military, would be Sixteen Hundred. But normal people would say just Four o'clock, perhaps adding PM to indicate the afternoon (no-one i've ever met of any age or nationality has ever read the 24hour clock time straight up because that would be stupid)
You're right haha, I'm just too stupid and Italian

Well, MARS, if there is one thing I learned at school it is that sometimes teachers make their own rules, which seems to be the case now... I personally had never heard someone say ten hundred, and to me it doesn't make any sense either... It sounds wrongs, one thousand is much easier and therefore I would just use that.
My English teacher would say all synonyms of words we had to learn were wrong, even if they were more advanced words... Nothing to do about it really... Or you could try crying infront of her...

Yeah, I know I won´t be able to make her change her opinion, and I´m not going to try.
Thank you anyway! If I am only wrong in that sentence, I will think I have a 10!
Another thing, is this thread a good idea?

OK, Rin, but I thought it´d be good to have a thread to discuss about English, and to help people who needs it

Hello.
Is there a difference between "last" and "latest"?
Thanks

There shouldn't be a big difference, I'll try to explain this with some examples:
When you ask someone "what is the latest book you've read?" you are in fact asking what is the most recent, up until now. This implies that you have read a number of books over some time and you are asking about the most recent.
When you ask someone "what is the last book you've read" well, to me at least, compared to "latest", implies that there hasn't been much reading previously.
2 more examples:
The last concert can mean the final concert - there will be no more, or it can mean the most recent concert.
The latest concert would usually mean the most recent concert.

'last' is used when there are or will be no more, while 'latest' is used when there are presumably more to come. 'Latest' = 'most recent'.

Another doubt.
Plural for "son" is "sons"?
I got a 9.8 in English I put sons, and my teacher says it´s children... and the other fault was:
I had to write a question to ask for lemonade and I put: Can I have some lemonade? It was wrong because I forgot putting PLEASE in the finish
I´m really, really tired of getting high 9 in English, TIRED!
Spoiler Finally the teacher put "One thousand"

IIRC you can say sons but I never heard people saying it, so I guess that children is more right?
I don't know about the 2nd sentence, but I wouldn't have marked it as an error tbh, even though I would have used could instead of can.

I have to say that in both sentences my teacher put me a "half right, half wrong". I hope you understand me.
In the "son" sentence, it was a possessive. I had to put:
Marcos´ children´s teeth
And I put
Marcos´ sons´ teeth
Great thanks, I learn a lot more with you than with my stupid teacher

Two sons should be alright if you ask me. Children would be sons + daughters.
Try googling ''I have two sons''. Plenty of results of people saying that
Second one is debatable if you ask me, it would be more polite to add please. Or actually replacing 'can' by 'could' as well.
9.8 is nice though
Edit:
Zabel'd and looking at the ''sons'' example you just gave, I'd say children looks better but unsure if son would be wrong in this case.
Double edit:
It would be son's instead of sons' I suppose

Same as above, "sons" is for only boys and children is for both boys and girls. It depends on what exactly the question was whether it should be acceptable, but children is also correct.
Jesley, I believe it actually is "sons'", if it is a plural possessive. If it's singular, then the apostrophe comes before the s.

Thanks Jesleyh.
9.8 isn´t nice for me! (well, a bit...)
What´s the meaning of Zabel´d?
Son´s? It´s sons´... Plural finished in S + ´
Another thing. What´s more correct? ´ or ' ?
I always use ´ but I usually see ' here...
Edit: Thanks OZrocker! You help me being more upste with my teacher!!!!! But at least I know I now more than her

Oh of course Ozrocker, my fault, mixed stuff up I guess
' should be more correct I suppose.
Zabel'd is a forum joke you should know by now. If someone posts an essential thing(or exactly the same thing) before you post, without you noticing(so that your post is outdated)
It's called Zabel'd because of Erik Zabel celebrating too early in Milan San Remo once, so that someone else got the win.
Though for me, a 9,8 out of 10 would be an amazing mark
Your English teacher seems stupid indeed btw
