Just missed a top 10 there with Viviani - Metenvest may be having a mare in the PCT but a GT stage win is one hell of a compensation!
I can see Ignatiev clean sweeping the TT's if he isn't out of juice by the end of the race. I wonder if the final TT will prove decisive on GC - I am obviously hoping wherever Alarcon is he will be a locl by then (and certainly higher than he is after day one).

Metinvest king of the wildcards. In especially Ignatiev.
He though should start to score in PCT as well.
Can live with my riders finishing in the middle of nowhere here. No ambitions in time trials here. |

Sella, why can't you time-trial?
Lost a lot of time today, as expected. Now lets see if he will attack to take time back

Nice to see the wildcard take over pink, already looking like money well spent for Metinvest.
Other than that, looking forward to the Aetna stage (I'm not getting mixed up, right?)

Nice to see the first GT of the season underway. Will follow closely - my first 'real-time' ManGame GT experience as opposed to reading up on 'history'.
Looks like a great battle can be expected. Good luck to all involved - may the MG gods smile upon you all (and AI bugs be banished!).

Do you mean Stage 3, with Mt Etna in it?

Dees did very well here, Ricco lost quite a lot. He is eventually going to lose 5mins or more from the TTs, which reduces his chances of a podium, drastically.

Nice job getting the racer underway this swiftly, SN!
Good start for Pluchkin, a few seconds on Madrazo, Cunego and Ricco already is definitely worth the while

Quite a good result for Nechita there, but I guess the TT line-up is far from the best.

Great start for us with 2 riders in the top15, but it's a shame today's hapepenings have had that major setback to all the riders involved. Fortunately the gap wasn't massive and it's perfectly recoverable during the rest of the Giro.
Congrats to Metinvest for their sensational victoryin the prologue. I always find it unexpectedly satisfying to see a wildcard having a good performance even though it doesn't grant us many benefits in the end.

For the 4th Giro in a row, my captain crashes and losing time... This time, the ground lost was not too significant, but if he is injured, the Giro is over...
Pichon did a great effort here, but in the end just wasn't strong enough.

Crashes are never good. In especially those huge ones at the start of a GT.
Luckily GM was able to come around and 1'11 on this group is okay on a hilly stage.
Pluchkin, Martin, Cunego and Trofimov with a huge stage here as they were the only GC riders in front.
Thurau being the first crasher is not good as he mustn`t be injured and needs to attack more often and eventually podium in stages. But it`s good to see that my riders are trying to join the breakaway. As he was in the big group in the end I guess no injury for him.
And other than that the abandons are not good for their teams. In especially Kreder and Van der Sande could have done well on the harder sprint stages. |

Very good result for Leezer, but it came with a price. Like roturn said, Kreder had a chance at some good stage placings.
Hopefully, Brambilla isn't injured.

Oh no... Van der Sande out. Pretty much my team's only chance of some top-5's in this race. Horrible.
Oh well. All about breakaways anyway. And I'm sure some managers will feel more hurt by the mega-crash than Vueling |

Excitement already in the Giro. Gaps are small, but hopefully will lead to aggressive racing on all the great stages to come. Is this race on tv?, the way its already set up, I'd love to watch .

The irony of being an Italian team, and having my Italian TTer beaten by the rider he was meant to replace. Still, a 2nd place on the opening stage is a great start, and then to have Ponzi deliver so perfectly on stage 2 is brilliant. Pity that a crash affected the game play again, but I can't help but feel relieved that Cunego was held up a little.
