Thanks for the various responses on PT race planning.
Prologue has set this up for good viewing across the week.

This should be an interesting fight between Phinney and Gesink. Good prologue from Phinney to secure the leader's jersey, it might come handy if he can keep it through the two flat stages.
I just hope that Van Heerden and Impey get it right this time and don't mess up like they did in Qatar, that would be somewhat annoying. Here's for hoping! |

Damn.
Oh well cannot complain too much, hoped to nick that one but second place gets something. It will be interesting to see hw the sprint plays out here, some of the sprinters here did nothing in Qatar, the season starts now.

In Basque Country we can both achieve our goal. Here, we can not

Glad to see Phinney in the leader's jersey, as Ember points out it could be important to have that going into the gc stages.
Thought Coppel being here might kill the chance for that, so nice to see Phinney get one over on him.

Bullshit. Guerao is utter shit when he doesn't have his train, and clearly my train is worthless. I had a hope that Keukeleire and Tzortzakis was competent enough to atleast MAKE a train. But no. Another season wasted with shitty sub top sprinters.

Great from Van Heerden!
Nothing at all to complain about there, he found the perfect wheel, and 4th was the best he could get.
Congrats to SN, Swift looks like a man on a mission here after the failure in Qatar.
And thanks for the quick reporting, cunego59! |

Don't judge the season already, there are certainly going to be Festina trains throughout the season. According to game mechanics, this should've been a one-off.
And I think Keukeleire+Tzortakis is better than Steurs+Lavoine, and if you forgot, that's what won you Champs last season

Nizzolo wasn`t the disappointment. PCM13 is to ignore some sprinters at all!
Even in a packed sprinter field every team should have a chance to have their sprinter trying. It`s not about energy as otherwise guys like Bos wouldn`t have been there in the end.
I really hope he will sprint tomorrow, which I highly doubt though. Was the same in 5 sprints in Qatar even though there the wind also had a role.
But if this continues, sending 1 sprinter to each GT will totally fail then when a 78 sprinter is 100% ignored.
On the positive though: Daan Olivier taking the KoM jersey. Well done. Already my 2nd breakaway today. |

Stauff is here looking for top tens and achieved one. I can't ask for more than that.
A really weird sprint I thought.

No mention about Mohs as one of stage favourites had to warn me not expect any big result. However, I was quite excited seeing him perfectly placed in Lotto's train and was pretty sure here will be big result for him today! Eventually, things developed another way and now I feel deceived
