I'd be happy with a stage win and a Top 15 in the GC. Im not sure thats even possible though, with that startlist

This will be a very interesting race. Van Stayen's performance here should give an indication on how good or bad his season will be.
Must admit I had hoped for a slightly weaker field. I just hope Van Stayen will be able to follow the very best on the Willunga hill. Anyway, GC top 3 is the target!

I think this will be a lottery with all the great puncheurs from the 1st pos to the 15th.
Hope to record a top 10 and add some points form high positions in the stages.

This is something I learned the hard way about continental races, that in general c1 races are really strong. Of course this race was one very lucky win back in the early days for red bull.
This one should be a fight between Froome, Ullisi and Dowsett. I will be interested to see how van Stayen gets on also.

Very meh from us. Really need to be putting someone into the break, and that kind of stage is one that should suit Haussler but for his awful positioning. Here's to some better results on the next few stages. |

Why do I spend ages on finding the best leadout picks in the DB when Modolo outsprints GVA?
Van Stayen to dominate the first of many races this season. GTFO of this division Venchi!

Van Stayen got himself Tour Down Under won already in stage one I can't see him relinquish the yellow and Willunga in the game is too short to create too many gaps.
Froome did well, will be impossible to beat Van Stayen but Top 5 or Top 3 with some luck could be achieved.

Wow, what an awesome way to start the season! Really impressed by the team effort the last 30 kilometers. Also a great sprint by Van Stayen after falling a bit behind the Meiji train.
Thanks for the report, Roturn!

Haha! I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts, but I certainly would not mind going back to PT at the end of the season.

A little disappointed with how went this first stage. It is worrying that McEvoy has not even tried to go to sprint. Beginning to see that I will not get anything from this race. It seems that my goal will be almost impossible to achieve

Yeah 2nd! Hopefully this means Barrio will have to work for Ventoso now. Best start to the season CSC has ever had, now time to keep it rolling.

Strong start list! Didn't send Monfort because I have my doubts about the selectiveness of the hilly stages.
On stage 1: I'm afraid we're going to have to get used to the sight of Van Stayen winning.
Very happy we were in the break! Good job by Kastrantas winning most of those sprints. Oss not joining the final sprint was disappointing though. He could've finished in a decent position if he had tried.

Why?
Poor first stage, wtf was Gasparotto doing? We'll need to do better then that and judging by things he could have done well in that sprint seeing that the hilly puncheurs did well. Hopefully things will get better. |

Good stuff for Drujon to get a 6th place. Maybe there is some hope for my sprint team this year?
Otherwise Van Stayen/Ventoso claiming bonus seconds is really laying down the challenge to the rest of the teams to try to claw those bonus seconds back.

Nice spot.
Talking about good old times I guess.
Or talking about being in PCT only. |

Well Im not sure what the Assistant Manager was doing there He will be promptly fired. Those tactics for a sprinter with not much ability on the hills, wasting all his energy before the final....
Atleast Sascha could grab a 4th.

Gasparotto was strangely dropped despite his hill stat, poor race for him so far...
At least we could grab our first point of the season through Wegmann in 8th, a decent finish. Now for Ben Nasser to start doing something!
Van Staeyen could end up winning even if he is dropped on Willunga, due to these masses of bonus seconds. He could win 5 stages here I think. |
