So now the big question - can Froome beat Riis' time up the Hautacam?

An even better question: if Froome punctures and looses 5 minutes in the cobbled stage what will happen? |

He will fake a bruised finger and hang on to the team car for the duration of the stage.

Very, very frustrated other year again...
The route is quite good but it's criminal to not include Galibier and Aubisque!! 2 years without them! They are Tour de France classics and they must be every year in it. Of course, Tourmalet, too...
They could have included Aubisque in the Hautacam stage and the Galibier in one of the alps stages.
They're despising these giants, colossus of Tour de France.

Yeah, but A) they simply can't include every legendary mountain every year or even every second year, and B) after a few years of the same mountains over and over again, people would be sick.of them. I think it's rather goodd, it makes them more exciting when they do come along.

Why? So we can get even more sick of them than we already are?

Pla d'Adet - awesome. Have been waiting for this for a long time. I stayed there when I was younger and climbed it 8 times, know it by heart.
Though they'll race up it a bit faster than I did, I reckon |

We need a triple Alpe d'Huez, double wasn't enough!

They have to mix it up or they will just be another mountain. They need to keep looking for other mountains to climb, mixing it up keeps it fresh and means that the riders won't be used to them which leads to better racing.
Glad they included some cobbles this year, should add some spice and the fact some GC's guys have a sook about it makes all the more exciting.

Why? Quintana has nothing to gain from stage like this. |

But it will be definitely a really exciting stage, imagine the 2013 crosswind stage with multiplied splits and cobbles. Any big crash/puncture may be crucial if you don't stay in front of peleton (and, as we know, everybody wanting to stay in front leads to more crashes)

Agreed, really curious what the cobbled stage brings. (Also for Mollema )

You're right but I think these cobblestones aren't enough used. It can bring interest for the GC. Or maybe not, last time there was little gaps between leaders. There was only F.schleck who crashed during that stage |

It just can't happen. With the amount of drugs he would need in his body he'd be considered a walking (cycling) chemical weapon and he'd be taken by the CIA before he made it to the finish line.

The same CIA that has reportedly been sourcing coke into the americans? |

What do you think they'd take him for?

Just caught up with the route - looks quite interesting, especially the cobbles!
Profiles of the mountain stages below:
Stage 8
Ends on a Vuelta-like wall
Stage 10
Stage 13
Stage 14
Looks very similar to the stage to La Toussuire in 2012, except a bit longer
Stage 16
Only descent finish - very long stage
Stage 17
Stage 18
The last two Pyreneean stages are both very short - 125km and 145km.
Rather disappointed that there's only 1 downhill finish, there usually seem to be 2 or 3 in the Tour, hope it's not going the way of the Giro/Vuelta. Nice to see the two stages in the Vosges though, (stage 10 in particular looks very difficult) and that they don't just focus on churning out the Galibier/Aubisque/Alpe d'Huez EVERY time, though we haven't had the Galibier since 2011 so I'm pretty sure it will be making a return for 2015

Hmm, I put my money on Nibbles for stage 16
And I agree, 1 extra downhill finish would be nice
