In 5, they actually fix the bugs of the old game - but introduce new ones so that the cycle never ends Next year we'll all be "Zomg now you can have 2 different sponsors in one team! Amazing"

It's true and sad. PCM is very buggy. Always has. I'm surprised noone has taken (as far as I know) legal action against cyanide. The reason people buy the game is just because there is nothing else decent available. If only cyanide did the Microsoft thing... when a new windows is about to come out, the old one is actually running decently (except for Millenium, and Vista)... lol |

The business model is pretty simple.
1. Release a half finished, not properly tested game in time to cash in on the Tour de France.
2. Release a couple of half-arsed, rushed patches before you go off on holiday.
3.Come back from holiday and say that'll you now be concentrating on getting the next version right (as it's too much work to fix the unfinished game - especially now you've got people's money).
4. Release some screens come the new year, talk about how much better this year's version is going to be and all the improvements you've implemented. (The fan sites won't bother asking you if they'll work or not, because you won't talk to them if they do).
5. Released a half finished, not properly tested game in time to cash in on the Tour knowing that due to the passing of time a good proportion of the people who bought the last game will have forgotten/be willing to forgive. Replace the others with new fans caught up in the excitement of the Tour.
Time to go off and spend the rest of the day being positive and thinking happy thoughts now.
Normally i would say thats harsh, but it is pretty close to the knuckle.
By far the best i have had from this years game is with salis 98 db, in 2004 now and not one problem, plus very enjoyable mountain stages |

Exactly. It's just very smart to launch it around TdF, more people are into cycling around that time, so more buyers.
And that is the 100% correct explination. That comment should end the topic.
Side note: I am playing a career right now...I only have the last patch. Is it a different version in the US? Wouldnt imagine it is...but all modes on mine work fine. Only issue I had was getting my team into the game (custom). Some reason even with everything in the correct spots...the game would crash or give me pink squares for my team only. Took about 2 weeks to get it working right. Past that, no issue except the stats being very off.
Pain,Agony,Suffering...Thats why I love cycling!

No, there are no different versions in the US.
I am sure the bugs exist in your game too, for example WT teams not taking part in Conti races from april to september (or so). You can find description of the bugs in these forums. |

I wonder if really anyone really knows what developers are doing especially at small teams like PCM really has. Even though Cyanide got multiple studios around the world but just the one in Paris is for PCM and some are also for TDF for the consoles.
And as the developing is getting more and more expensive and more complex what do you really expect?
Otherwise the stuff written here even if the game is half-arsed like some say there is no reason for some stuff here.
I guess you also start working at 8-9 and end around 22 with even taking some work home especially at the last weeks before the release/gold status.
Also the stuff about TDF:
Actually pretty boring and well known) that the core people always think the games are made for them and they are the biggest percentage of the people buying the game.
Thats pretty much bullshit as they are just some percent to the group who really are buying the game.
The ones watching the TDF because theres really nothing else in sports when the TDF is on.
And the TDF is the biggest drawer in cycling. Not the Vuelta/Giro, neither the classics. Just the TDF is with the Olympics up there in generating the biggest interest around the world.
And you can't get something released at March and make commercials at July because the game would be already too old/outdated and just plain stupid.
Also the first CYM was released at October. Not in June or July. But the 2nd one was already in July and the diffrence between CYM1 and CYM2 was biig. But that was 2001 and not 2013.
I wonder what would have been if the forbidden V word was "founded" around this time where those kickstarter projects are really growing like hell. Thank god Kickstarter wasn't that time around.

I don't know what you all are discussing here.
Cyanide does not decide WHEN to publish the game, the publisher does that.
But Cyanide is responsible to supply a working game at the agreed release date. This involves concepts and planning as in every other business. If the concept and planning does not match the outcome year after year, this clearly shows that the company lacks in that department. But also the development department is totally incompetent else there would not be so many incomplete and/or bugged features in the game.
I am a developer in a small company and I know that it is not easy. But still, if somebody constantly fails and never learns from his mistakes, he should change the job or should be fired. |

Quoted for truth.
And this model is only possible thanks to many people who are still happy with recieving crap as the product and even being happy for it. I am still yet to play more than some 40-50 hours in pcm13, it bores me to death and proper managment career is possible only with ignoring half of the game functions.

Not my problem at all. I dont care a second how long or short they work. I want properly functional product as the customer. I did not get it.
In my job, nobody cares about how happy or comfortable i am, or how long during a day i work. They just want product of my work being useful and for good price.
Also there are bugs which are present for years. We dont need new gimmick functions, we need functionality.

I've been sent this answer by Focus about a new patch for PCM 2013. So we can wait and hope.
Hello,
Thank you very much for this report which has been forwarded to the developers at Cyanide.
Our technical support has not yet information about an upcoming update for the game.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Best Regards,
Technical Support

If you read between the letters there, it indicates that there will be a new patch

But I really hope that there will be a patch. |

Thank **** they are working on fixing resistance... As well as few other main bugs.
Although whether they will actually fix it, is another question.

And they won't still fix the stupid problem of the favourite attacking on the base of mountains. At least, they "say" they're fixing the bugs. I'm going to pray for a miracle now. |

Yay, a patch coming soon, hopefully.
Fixes list looks promising, hope they won't bring a new bug in
Looking forward to the patch.

Finally, it is very disappointing that Cyanides lets the users of the game wait more than two months, to actually be able to play the game as it should be from the beginning. But nice to hear they are finally doing something about it.

Sounds really good. It fixes almost all the bugs, but i think that the most important one ( favorites attacking on the base of the mountain ) won't be fixed. In fact, i don't know if it can be fixed... |
