Expected but still nice win. Kilun also doing well.
Now all i can hope for is the yellow-bonus to happen and actually i'm hoping for Lloyd to finish high, his combined MO/HI-stats ain't too bad here.

Everybody is within 20 seconds so will be hard for Rogers to hold on to his leaders jersey on the second stage because of the bonus seconds.

Aargh, yes. Cheering for this Salleh then and Rogers staying in yellow because of the better individual placements well, well, can't change things anyway, so anything will do.

Or PCM goes insane and Rogers pulls a Kritskiy. |

Great team performance, Costa with the well needed podium with Verona and Fraile already showing their potential picking up some points as well. I have a strange feeling that Costa might steal podium and be in yellow heading into stage 3. Just a gut feeling since there is an uphill section heading into the finish.

As several has mentioned, a result as expected. However we are very pleased with Adamous effort, putting him in top 10 overall. Looking forward to ee how both him and Banihammad could do in the hilly sections.
Really curious to see which gonna decide the most, the hilly stages or mount Fuji. Great reporting Spilak! |

Can't complain over the result on the opening.

Not really much to say in such a short prologue, we knew we would lose time, but with how short it is we also knew that it wouldn't be the end of the world as it wasn't long enough for the gap to be worth worrying about too much. The Fuji TT on the other hand might be a different matter, it all depends on how much the tt stat comes into it compared to the Mountain and Hill stats.

Not a stellar start to this race for us, and my optimistic view of a top 10 here is looking pretty slim even after the first stage; I just have to look through the start list for that! But, we can still maybe score some more results and points, and pull something magical like Dwars Door Vlaanderen...

Yep, just like I expected. Looks like Costa got boxed in a little otherwise my prediction would have been right. Can't wait to see how stage 3 pans out, then close my eyes for Mt. Fuji and reopen them for stage 5.

Good win for Repsol, while it was nice for us to have a guy in the break so we didn't have to do anything at all except for protecting Castaño which the team did well. The mountain jersey is a nice bonus, will be interesting to see if Corales will go for more points.

Sucky. Let's hope Marquez is not injured. Nice win for Repsol though.

Very good opening so far. A 2nd and 3rd place is very nice, although a win would be better. Hopefully it'll be consistent and resulting in much needed ranking points.

If only Schurter had better positioning as he came through the filed for 5th like a rocket. he's nowhere on the first screenshot of the sprint and looking at the pictures you can track his progress from at least 20th back.
Still it's good signs that he's trying and whilst he may have just missed out on the bonus seconds on this stage it's a promising sign of things to come.

It wasn't Peeters, but two in the top 10 is good for points. They're both riders who have a shot at achieving the top 10 goal for this race too (Ortega and Masuda). Let's hope that they can pull it off! Unfortunately they are both still a little down in GC, but not by too far. It's doable at least!

Oooh, was so afraid that Adamou would loose contact with the pack, but he's still in it to fight for a top 10. Can't wait to see how Mount Fuji will turn out to be.
Congratulations to Repsol! |
