Nice prevew, but biggest favourite for me is missing there in the list, i think Vaitkus is the perfect all-arounder for such a course and can be a dark horse. But maybe he will collide with Docker in his team somehow and will not go for all the sprints (but also Docker is pretty good all-around). So AirBaltic can do great.
My second favourite is Kip, with strong prologue, nationality bonus and great sprint.
Many says Vantomme, but i doubt he is the best chance for the win (sorry Roturn), as he can maybe lost more than a minute in TTs, given his sub-par stat (but that is same for Kip in longer TT).
Good luck to all, should be an interesting race.

I expected more by Martin Irvine still was not too bad, and its capabilities in the sprint can still surprise.

Brilliant! That's pretty much justified me bringing Cornu here, as he takes an easy 30ish points in one race day, plus whatever he gets in the rest of the race. It also bodes well for the second TT test.
Nice result for Drujon too.

Hadn`t expected such a huge time gaps here. Don`t think Vantomme can get a high GC here when losing ~2min in the time trials.
So at least 1-2 wins minimum are needed to get decent points. |

Had hoped for a podium, but i take this result as it is
Still a TT where Ford can do better. Now i'm hoping for Rasmussen. He needs to do sprint better than he did in TDU though.

Okay bad thing is that Winden failed pretty hard.
Good thing, Kip did amazingly well and 12 seconds is not much if he can perform in the sprints!

I love you, man Whenever Docker and Vaitkus have been in the same race, it's favoured Vaitkus. I'm hoping that's not different, especially now Vaitkus is quite well placed after that TT.
Congrats to Count and Cornu, too. Lovely concise report too, MrE

Vaitkus indeed started nicely, he is one of the the biggest favourites for me now, together with Kip and Drujon, but these two will loose time maybe almost a minute on him in longer TT.
So his biggest opponent can be Cornu in the end. And also Rasmussen looking good

Unfortunate we couldn't get a sprint train going, as I feel it may be one of the strongest in this race. Still, Vaitkus nabbing 3rd and a few bonus seconds, sets him up well for a good race.
A stage win would be nice though...
Congrats to BCR, very strong win, well deserved.

Looks like my idea during transfer's that the FL stat would count much was wrong. |

Oh, no. Drapac seems to be our lead-sprinter instead of Rasmussen. Should have known it better good to see Keukeleire in the break, though.

Had hoped more from Kip, but he'll need a much better leadout to gain some valuable bonus seconds and perhaps even a stage win. Still, fifth is not that bad, and I'm sure he and the team will do better in the stages to come! Nice win for BRC, they did the job perfectly today.

First win Goal of the season, first victory of the season!
No chances in the GC though, but that Points jersey should be the new Goal now.
So happy, thanks everybody!

Congrats dev, a well picked goal for Guillen I think, he needs it pan flat with a good train and he got it. If Vantomme had been closer or we had the slightest puff of wind I am sure Vantomme would have got it.
Cornu could nab this race, would be a be a great result for Bpost if he did.

@SN: I guess so. But the box didn't show up saying he crashed and when I saw there was a guy in A1, I looked and that's when I took the picture.

Nice seeing Hushovd tries to leadout Kreder and both managed a top 10.
Would like atleast one podium place in a stage here but guess it will be hard. |
