Hopefully with the strength of both Iberia and Gazelle, there will be a strong chase and this can come down to the big riders fighting it out. My tip is Purito.

Purito or Weening, cant see any other rider to mix it up with these too, good luck to all the teams!

Promising start considering Barrio could have done better if Iberia hadn't blocked him during his first attack. But 6th is good start to the season, and our Spanish friends won so that's cool.

Sponsor goal #1 achieved! Perfect racing from the team. Weening's attacked looked in control all the time. Got a little fear though when Mehr-Wenige got a gap but well, Rodriguez' last kilometre is deadly.
Had expect a little more from Sanchez maybe but still, 5 guys int the top 20.

Iberia starts with class. Congratulations.
I have to say we have accomplished the objectives for this race having one rider in the top 10 and another in the top 20. The only but is the Top 10 was the 10th so I was expecting more from Grau. Calzati on the 30th isn't too bad either.

Glad im not having any hilly goals this year.
Iberia looked close to impossible to get away from, that might be just because their just as strong, but I also think it's harder to splits groups / ride away in PCM12

Well for me having five guys in the top twenty and the race winner isn't too bad. But it is a bit of a boring J-Rod style tactic, hold it steady for that last late burst. Well done to Iberia in the first race.
Weening looked a bit of a lone fool but at least he tried something along with Mehr-Wenige everyone else just seemed to be happy to be there.

Great day for Allianz, after Dekkers 7th place in a HC race, a 4th finish for Talabardon and another two top25 finishers in the very first C2 race. (and i dont talk about what if Talabardon wasnt blocked by Iberia when attacking) Well done guys, never worser results |

Exactly as I thought, I'm afraid. Just expected Weening to get first, but oh well. Have fun with the jetlag in Algerie guys

I still don`t like not having Mehr-Wenige and/or Weening...Well played in the transfers by Fintas and DD.
Iberia was having a Sky-like strength controlling everything with Purito nicely finishing. |

Dominating performance by Iberia. I hope the other teams will adjust their tactics in races to come.

As I feared, Ibeira are gonna get so many points in these races
Hopefully when Chaoufi is racing we can nick a few off them
Another great report SN! |

Great result for Ilias getting on the podium - exceeded all expectations and even beat Weening to the line! I don't think Ilias can be nabbing podiums every time he races, but I'm now more confident that he will always be a threat for the top-10 and better.
A report full of nerves for me, as I couldn't find any of my riders even near the front of the peleton (except for some early attacks) and then Ilias bursts into 3rd place from absolutely nowhere and holds on for the final podium place. Great tactics from him.
The less said about my support the better. Naibo finished with the pack at 32nd and then my next highest rider lost 8'30 to the leaders! Not that I was expecting much from them but losing more than 8 minutes is a bit of a shock, considering 3 of those riders had 70 hill (dunno how much importance the mountain stat was in this race)
Iberia will be very pleased with their points haul, looks like the pre-season predictions may have been spot on. Slightly disappointing for Gazelle I would think, but they still take away the 2nd highest total points from this race

Great to see Weening attacking! After all that is the focus of the team. Really hope some other leaders join him next time. I did expect a slightly better result but still got a top 5 rider and a top 10 rider, so it's ok.
Congrats to Iberia; perfect execution of sound and pragmatic tactics. Well done.
And nice report; it flowed really well, making it a very exciting read.
Btw, did Weening also remind you guys of Boogerd in his prime hilly classic years? He would always attack a lot, looking very strong but also a bit foolish, and then finish second to some Italian. (Rebellin, Bettini, Di Luca etc..)

Plenty of colour in CT's peloton, I like it. Great race to read as well. It seems the hilly races are going to feature some titanic clashes in this division
