I guess the C2 race in the Valenciana region is too flat to feature in your goals!

Spilak, after seeing your goals I can assure that there will be blood in the transfer season between us.
Without any doubt, I can consider my Nemesis.
There can be only one.

Nice goals, i will watch the spanish fight from distance, but our teams should meet in Burgos at least, i think top 5 could be hard for your team, but good luck in snatching your wished leader.

Indeed, certainly well rounded goals. Could all be accomplished by one or two riders, so it seems as though you do have a very nice transfer plan. Best of luck, it's nice to see a new Spanish team, too.

Nice picks, both your race goals and your transfer targets. I'm afraid you're going to have some fight over those iberian riders, though.

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with the goals. They should all be achievable if the transfers go according to plan. ggDonovan and Gustavovskiy, I'm already looking forward to the transfer season where I will snatch Iberian riders away from you guys.

First rider signed during the off-season!
The transferseason is now almost 3 days underway so we decided it was time to announce the first riders that are signed by our team. We will start with the first team leader that will join our team. Daniel Moreno is bought from PT bound Simply Red Bull. He combines strong climbing skills with a special kick to the line. This means he will lead the team in the toughest races and should be able to give us some wins. Next are some very valuable domestiques that we signed. Jose Vicente Toribio and Andoni Blazquez are strong punchers who will play a vital role to the team's succes in hilly races. Francisco Perez Sanchez is a climber who is over the hill on the top level but he should be able to use his experience to support Moreno. Francisco Anton Martin is a sprinter who isn't quite on top level but we feel he might be strong enough to lead our team in some races. We are still looking around to see if he will get another sprinter next to him to anchor our team in that department. Javier Chacon is the 6th Spanish addition to our team and should be a great domestique all around while also having a decent timetrial in his legs. The last signing I announce is a young talented Colombian rider. Johan Esteban Chavez should be able to develop into a top puncher and we see him winning a lot of races in the future wearing the Iberia shirt.
More transfer news will be announced later.

Two young Norwegians joining Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana
Iberia will loan in Sven Erik Bystrom and Sigurd Nesset for the following season from Norwegian Aker - MOT team. Only waiting for the last paperworks to be signed, the team directors stated this was a move to lower the pressure on the wage cap every team has. The team sended away an amount of money which they thought would be of no use further in the transfer season, to loan in these two riders hoping they could gain a lot of experience. They will be seen quite a lot next year doing work as two domestiques for the Spanish team leaders. Norwegians don't really fit in in a Spanish team who's only non-domestique rider so far is Colombian but teammanagement responded that coming from different countries will only make the riders better in their future careers.
The other riders who will complete the squad will be anounced later this week.

Last additions make 16 riders for Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana
With all but 10.000 from our balance used and all paperwork send back to the sports gouverning body, we can announce that our transfer season is over. 16 riders in total have joined our team. Most of them have already been presented but we will present the last riders joining now. We have a second leader next to Moreno. Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver is a well known name in the peloton as he was seen a lot last year fighting at the front in most Pro Tour hilly races. He is getting old though and feels like a leader role in the CT is perfect for him now. Samuel Sanchez Gonzalez is probably as famous as Rodriguez Oliver as they have fighted eachother over the years in the biggest races in cycling. One year older, Sanchez is probably a bit weaker so will help Rodriguez in the races they race together. He will also get his chancce to lead the team though in races Rodriguez won't start. We have also signed Saulo Lay, a sprinter who will probably give us some stage wins as he will be one of the best sprinters in the CT.Let's hope he knows how to finish races alone cause he won't have much support next to Anton Martin. 2 Spanish domestiques have joined the team aswell. Diego Gallego and Luis Fernandez Oliveira should be very good support for Moreno in the high mountains. They even might get a chance to lead the team themselves in races we won't have a strong line up. Juan Pablo Valencia is the second Colombian joining the team. He will complete our supporting cast for the hilly races were he, Blazquez and Toribio will play quite an important role. We have also loaned in one more rider. Italian Francesco Bongiorno joins the team for one season from Puma - Sap. He is already quite a good climber and will learn on the go as he is working for our climbers. We know have 16 riders from 4 different nationalities. We feel like we did a very good job in the transfer seasn and are looking forward to the actual start of the racing!

Two of the good old riders ending up in Spain is nice. Samuel Sanchéz will probably have his last decent season while Oliver can be a decent domestique next season I think.

Well, There is a small chance that Sanchez can stay one more year after this as he would still have 73 in hills. Rodriguez should still be a very good domestique next year but his wage is quite high now and he will have to take a giant paycut.

Well, I think we will see Ndibri and Moreno face off against each other more than once in the season!

Iberia's roster strong enough for Top 5 in CT?
With the transfer season now officially closed. We felt like it was time to show a full roster of our team for the upcoming 2013 season. We feel like we have done quite a good job collecting riders strong enough to compete with the best in the CT. A top 5 in the final Continental Tour standings should be very possible, who knows maybe even more.

Your competitiveness is at the expense of younger leaders, but this is certainly a promotion candidate if you play your cards well.
Nice to see my loanee Bongiorno is not amongst the "worst" helpers (I don't like to see my riders only as roster fillers ), although he'll have a hard time to excel in between all those climber domestiques!
Either way, I'll definately follow with interest.

Thanks! My initial plan was to focus on youngsters but considering the big difference in wage cap between P(C)T and CT, it would be very hard for a CT team to outbid the bigger teams for young talents. That and the fact that there were only 2 or 3 Spanish talents who would become anything valuable, the best being a cobbler , made me change my plan. Promote this season and start building for the future next year!

Your team is probably stronger than mine. Slightly worryingly. |
