Luckily, it's not random, and sponsor happiness does matter in whether your sponsor wants or not to renew and how much will they pay Basically, there seem to be 3 situations: the sponsor is not satisfied with your results and will not be renewing unless there's a significant improve at the results, the sponsor thinks the results are OK and would agree in renewing but with a lower budget and the sponsors have been convinced by your results and intends to not only renew but also increase your budget.
Testing with different sponsor hapiness, I got renewal proposals from 1149 (thousands of Euros) to 1663 (current budget = 1386). Also it seems that the happiness 'coefficients' don't weight the same (a higher average in the 3 of them 'badly' distributed didn't get the sponsor willing to renew; a lower average equally distributed did though). Also it seems each sponsor has it's own number, since Euskaltel wanted to renew with 28-28-28 while Euskadi didn't with 30-30-30.
Concerning contracts, it is possible to renew contracts without having a closed deal for next year with any sponsor. You'll see an 'alert' saying that you still have not closed a deal with a sponsor for the next year in the negotiation box though. What you can't, however, is sign with new riders (at least in the July 1st transfer period; in the first days of the season it's possible apparently).
If anyone is interested in messing with the values to see what comes up, I've attached the save from July 2nd.

hey guys i just read the tread and i was wondering, how do you play your career if you are a Continental pro team, where you don't know if you are allowed in the Cya races? should you just plan your fitness on Easy races or is there a way of knowing wether or not you get a wild-cart?
Thanks in advance |

In my Coldeportes career I peaked Duarte and most climbers for the Giro and hoped for a wildcard. In the end I didn't get it, but they were in top form and destroyed the Tour of Cali so it was all good. I also added some minor peaks for Duarte especially around the Vuelta, and we got a wildcard so that worked well.
It's all about preference. Or you can just auto-subscribe to races in the DB.

Well, you could edit the save and invite you to some races, but I guess that's not what you want.
I only plan a part of my season around a WT race when it's a GT and the most important race of the season of me (Giro for Androni / A&S, Tour for Europcar / Cofidis).
Remember that this is PCM, even with these teams, you have to have good results prior to the wildcard distribution process to be pretty sure to get one!
That's the way to go for me when I want to promote, becaude otherwise race days and fitness peaks would hinder the CT success.

I have Continental pro team and i did this :
the 27 cyclists split in 3 groups
1 group picks fitness 02.02-20.03 and 20.05-31.07
2 group 01.03-28.05
3 group 25.07-01.10
I never have 2 races in a day and have covered all GT . |

I wish people would sometimes recognize the fact that many people reading your posts don´t yet know about the finer workings off the game. Me included So how do you do that, i.e. what table is it in when you use the excel-editor for example ?
Also, i assume you could also unsubscribe of some races ? Personally i´ve been in a little pinch, having gotten more wildcards than i wanted to take part in ultimately.
Personally i lay it by ear a little bit when it comes to helpers and am not shy about reshaping the schedules when things don´t work out for the main guys or i get invited to races i didn´t think i would.
But overall i do plan ahead for the better riders and try to pick a couple goals that i think are realistic and one should at least have a Plan B ready for the big tours when not invited. The TDF is a bit tricky but Giro and Vuelta have so many smaller tours around them that it´s pretty easy to adjust, imo.
Actually, like cio93 i personally don´t really plan for the big tours with my CT team. I did a custom team that´s part US and part german and while i have a couple good riders i couldn´t count on much success there (Degenkolb as sprinter, Van Garderen as Stage Racer are allright, but both don´t have a ton of help. Kiryenka is pretty good still, but after that the best climbers are guys like Nierman and Schuhmacher)
Now my main goals are the Tour de Romandie (where i finished 5th with Van Gardere allready) and the Tour de Suisse and also tours like the Tour of California (and the other US tours in the fall) or the Bayern Rundfahrt. |

I don't know all the a tables off by heart, but I think it might be in STA_team or STA_race that you would change something.
And it is simple to unsubscribe, you can do it in game!

cheers for the info
Regarding the "can do it in game" : The Wildcard Races you get invited to seem to be fixed wy before and the normal races also get "frozen" after a certain date. Basically, i got a surprising number of wildcard invites and recognized too late that the race list was too much for my team to handle realistically. |

The table would be DYN_team_race. There you can change the subscription status. |

A lot of good stuff in this thread. I was debating making a video a few weeks ago about planning a season but I'm not sure I need to.
1. Use Lachi's season planner
2. Plan season around 4 and 5 star sponsor goals
3. Use and plan your best riders race programmes first
4. Be sure to focus on pro-tour events. (if you are a ProTour team)
5. If you need a hand, check the website or around the internet of the team you are playing. You can google "Vuelta al pais vaso, ronde vlaanderen, tour of california" and look for the startlists.
6. Be sure to leave a gap for training camps at the right times.
7. Don't forget to plan a decent number of racing days prior to a grand tour. Your riders will continue to gain fitness while riding the tours so they don't need to be maxed on race days going into it else they'll suffer from fatigue and poor recovery.
Good luck!

my planner recognizes more then 30 riders just in case somebody adds more riders in his team using an editor. But the official maximum of the game is 30 |

I have a few questions about planning a career.
1) What's the best way to manage fitness for your main protectors and teammates? Do you try to create a schedule like you would for your leader and have them peak for the main races they're participating in or is it better to keep them at a steady level so they can help in more races at a decent level?
2) How much does race fitness matter for protectors/teammates?
3) I have a 25 rider squad and by keeping them all around 60 race days I can't fill half the events the AI picked for my team to participate in. How many racing days do you normally plan for each rider? I know you want to be under 60 for your leaders through their main races but do you limit them to 60 or have them keep racing so the team can participate in more events? |

I'll try to help.
1. Normally, I use the very same fitness program for my GC leaders and their main helpers, so the helpers can be most helpful in the toughest part of the GTs. For the other teammates I usually don't bother creating custom programs, but to answer your question, since they don't need great fitness ever it is best to use a steady fitness program, not ever peaking them (unless some of them are very specialized so they can target single races/stages).
2. Again, not much, except for your main helper who is supposed to last with your leader for the maximum possible time.
3. 60 race days isn't the maximum; you can safely program your schedule for about 70 races average and even more for your teammates who don't need a lot of fitness anyways. Actually, some of my riders usually end the season with more than 80 race days. Another approach, but to be honest I find it a bit gamey (unless my team has just 15 or so riders), is to send reduced squad to the races, so you spend less race days overall.

There is nothing wrong with sending the minimum required riders to a race. I do it all the time if I have a small squad. If you are using my season planner, make sure to tick the option, else the game will fill up your team at the start of the race randomly. (I have to admit that I never tested if that is still needed in PCM2012.) |

I have just tried to start a career with Sky ProCycling.
And created the Real Program for all the riders.
Do you guys have any experience in using real race program in PCM 11 or PCM 12, if it can go through without going over 60 race days? |

Is the training potential random?
I've started a few careers to test this and the stars are never the same. Doesn't matter if I check the Random Database option or not.
I figured it's determined by age and how high the skill already is, but what else? Specialisation? Database? |
