Okay I'm not sure exactly what you all were doing, but I had no problems setting up my sprint train.
If you search through my posts, somewhere one was stickied with a youtube video for pcm11, I was able to repeat the exact process for 12 with no difficulty.

The only sprint I've ever won was on a hilly stage where, the breakaway was caught near the end, and half of my riders were tired, so I got Hushovd to sit behind Goss then sprinted with about 1km to go. Sprint trains have never worked in the week I've played this game. I guess I just can't get the timing of the sprint right... |

Ofcourse it also depends on who your sprinter is and who are your competitors.
First week i won a lot of sprints in Tour Down Under with Renshaw and Bos as Lead-out man, but i think the best competitor was Vaitkus who was clearly not in form.
Than came Tour San Luis, and i just managed to get two third places and some top ten finishes with Renshaw and Bos, but the other sprinters where Cavendismy h, Greipel, Goss, Haedo, Henderson. All better sprinters than my sprinters with SP stat on 76. Very realistic in my opinion. |

The position is also relevant due to cutoffs. Do a test run with your lead out man protecting the sprinter since the beggining of the stage and when the time comes just put the sprinter to follow the lead out man and then the lead out man to follow a favourite from another team that should be close by. This way you rule out if your positioning is at fault or not because at least the sprinter is in perfect position to follow the lead out man due to the protection thing keeping them in place. If it is not due to positioning or cut offs made by other riders Im not sure what else there is and I'd need to watch how you actually do it to see if there is something wrong or not.
Or (because setting up a train is pretty easy and there is no hidden secret to it) you could be doing everything right but your riders are rubish for instance Eisel tends to fail big time because at the slightest crossing of another rider he loses the wheel and I have to reset (usually bypassing Eisel and setting Cavendish after the man that was before Eisel and if the new lead out man is slow or something just jump to another wheel and Cav will get the job done by himself). |

You could only change the lead-out as protection man for your sprinter in the final few kms before the 18 km to go mark (where follow becomes available), because protecting costs a lot of energy in the long run and the lead-out men will be useless in leading out your sprinter if he protects someone the whole day.

Thats why I suggested a test run. Just to check if the follow would work and to rule out positioning errors from the OP, the stage result would be of low importance in that scenario. |

Success at last. Yay Cav can sprint and win again. Many thanks for the help. Tried it on flat stages in Tours of Qatar and Oman. Works fine. Again many thanks. |

You guys mention setting guys on "dot" . Personally, for the final stages of the sprint (say last 8-10 k) i´ve put the first guy on infinite relay with 1 other behind on the same, then the lead out man following the 2nd rider and the sprinter following the lead out man. Then when i take the first guy out (tired) the 2nd rider takes over, ideally then have the lead out man start the sprint from there.
What i´m having more trouble is have my sprinter latch onto another teams main sprinter, how and when do you do that best ? |
