This will be one of the TdF classics- when everyone counts on surprise breakaway, but all guys arrive with s.t. affraid to risk anything. Or a breakaway with completely irrelevant riders somehow does not get caught. |

Unfortunately, I have to agree. I just hope De Gendt's, Schleck's and some other recently successful long attacks would have some influence on tomorrow's stage (and GTs in general).

I think Velits could win the stage if he can stay in the front group, but I hope for some fireworks.

i can see this being a fairly boring stage, given that the main stage to put Wiggo/Froome under pressure is tomorrow
still won't stop a few of the big names attacking though (i'm thinking of a stage 17 last year) |

Well, if Sky did what they did on the previous 2 hilly/medium moutnain stages, i'd think they'd do it again here, unless their mentality has changed eg. Wiggins being 1'53'' from his closest rival. I think it's stupid they waste the Colombier here though, the summit is 43km from the finish

i agree, have the finish on top of the Colombier, or have a descent into the finishing town (ie, in Locheiu)
edit: Nibali says he wants to put the Sky domestiques under pressure, i can see a frantic pace up there later

Grand Colombier, what a beast!
I hope Vdb will attack with Nibali or Evans, they'll have to work together if they want to destroy Wiggins |

This stage could be both boring or epic, it depends on who and if will have balls to make a long range attack. More probably Nibali and Evans should try to drop Wiggins over the top and drop like the bombshells from the mountain. But i fear Froominator will cover that with ease.
If the bigger group will come to the finish, i bet on Evans or Velits (but he could be droped on the climbs, depends how he will feel) for the win in the favourites sprint.
Second option is a breakaway win, somebody like Vaenedert could do very well.

I hope Kessiakoff can defend polkadots, should be possible if he gets away at the right time. |

VDB and Nibali said they'll want to attack Wiggins/Sky
Grand Colombier isn't going to be ridden at a dainty pace imo |

Would be smarter to stay cool today and go full tomorrow, when there are tons of points available atop Madeleine and Croix de Fer. I think that's the day to go for it for everyone wanting the KoM jersey.

if Vanendert or any other LTB rider will be in the break. I'm 100% sure VdB will attack at Grand Colombier |

Really looking forward to the stage today, could be epic.
The contenders must attack, the key to beat Wiggins is in my opinion to make the rest of the tour as hard as possible. Wiggins is til unproven for 3 weeks, has he the endurance to last. If the others keeps attacking at every posibility i don't think so, and he will crack, but they have to force it else the sky train will control the tempo and then i believe Wiggins will win the tour.
So the question is do Evans and Nibali have the guts to risk it all and race to win. If then the racing have to start today on the Grand Columbier, they not necessarily take that much time but more important it makes the race hard and increases the chance of Wiggins cracking at a later stage.

This stage is perfect for attacks. A great profile if the riders are up for it. Thumbs up to ASO.
Can't see VDB, Nibali and Evans not trying to do something. It's the perfect stage considering the circumstances.

I can't see VdB doing anything today, the one person who will try and attack is Nibali. Evans is going to have to try something too. |
