Who would guess that we'd have a Tour where the sprint battles are by far the most interesting thing.
Omg
"Omg" why?
Every contender not named Wiggins has come down with injuries or suspensions or whatever else that have derailed their preparation, so he's the only one who's here in top form.
This has never happened before in the modern history of the Tour (believe me, I can recite what happened in any edition since world war 2 by heart, this has never happened).
Wiggins is being handed the Tour on a silver platter. There is no conceivable way he can't win this. He'd have to screw up harder than anyone has ever screwed up.....or be unlucky and come down with a crash or an illness like everyone else already has.
So unless you're all excited to see who finished 2nd and 3rd, there's no GC interest in it

***Evans, Sanchez, Valverde, Gesink, Schleck
**Van den Broeck, Wiggins, Vanendert, Nibali, Menchov, D. Martin, Mollema, Rolland
*Leipheimer, Scarponi, Taaramae, Froome, Kloden, Costa, Roche, Peraud, Hesjedal, C.A. Sorensen, Kruijswijk, Basso, Horner, Van Garderen, Brajkovic, Coppel
So many guys wanting to make up time or salvage something could win. If only Danny Pate were here.

"Omg" because it's a flat out ridicolous statement.. you haven't even watched a single second of a mountain stage, and yet you conclude that it will be boring as shit. I say you give it a chance before making such a statement.
The Tour handed on a silver plate? Come on. Nibali, Evans, JVD, Sanchez and Menchov are still realistically able to snatch the victory in Paris. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Wiggins crack on the 11th or the 16th stage. |

That's funny considering I never made such a statement.
Unless you want to point out where exactly I said it would be "boring as shit". Go ahead, I'm waiting.
Stop being sanctimonious. As I said above, I'm not interested in the GC battle due an unfortunate set of circumstances that is likely to stilt the race. I'm not forced to be interested.
If I'd said other people are idiots for wanting to watch it you might have a point, but since I stated my own personal opinion, what? Are you going to say I am obligated to be interested?

Nothing's impossible, and like I said, he can come down with some bad luck.

What about Evans, Nibali, Van Den Broeck, Menchov, Kloden etc are they not contendors? |

Tomorrow's stage reminds me of the one Tiralongo won in the Giro. Can't see any of the favourites lose more as 20 seconds.

Except that was a long, easy climb and this is a short, steep climb?

You said that the sprint stages will, by far, be the most interesting stages. Am I correct if I assume by that you mean that the mountain stages will be unbelieveable boring??
You can state you personal opinion, yes, but I find it odd that you state it before there has been a mountain stage yet. |

This, completely agree. If there is a big chance to get Wiggins (or Evans, but that is unlikely) into a trouble in this Tour de France, tomorrow is a big opportunity..

I'd be mad if Cadel crashed, but I'd still be excited for every day of the Tour.
I haven't lost all interest, I will still watch. Just the unpredictability is all gone. There are 3 riders that can Realistically win and only about 6 riders able to get a Top 5 now.
All my favourite riders GC hopes are over:
Rolland 2min
Pinot 2 min
Mollema 2min
Valverde 2min
Gesink 3min
Kessiakoff 13min
Vinokourov 13min
Martin 13min
Hesjedal 13min
The only two I kinda like that are left are Nibali and Menchov.
Gesink mollema en rolland valverde should make a pact
atack early in the climb work 2gter.
gain time. they have 2 get rid of the mediocre climbers who help evans and wigans quickly, dont wait, 2 let them make the pace.
Its a big shame they ride on and didnt wait.
Hope except 4 menchov they fall, and then others go on 2.
cancelare sneakie fucker didnt do nothng 2 let them wait.
greipel same, ooooo cav is fallen ride forrest ride i can win again.
lucky sagan snatched the win. |

Iam scared they gona wait untill the last 2km again, like giro and last years tour.
They shouldnt ride flat stage at all, they only fall. even on straight wide roads the fuckers fall.
There are so many falls that it start 2 be borring. |

Evans had injuries and by his own admission is not in top form because of it. Vandenbroeck had injuries as well derailing his preparation.
Nibali was complaining he couldn't find any form, Although that might be a bluff, his Dauphiné performance was horrendous.
Menchov seems to be done as a top rider, but he could have one last hurrah, unlikely as it may be.
Klöden? He hasn't been at that level since that one time in 2004. That was 8 years ago.

Once again you're assuming.
At least you're not putting words in my mouth anymore

Would like to see what Monfort can do tomorrow. He should be the leader of RNT because he is in the best GC position (except Cancellara of course but he is not going for GC)

SAGAN again tomorrow??
just joking, hopefully as there is not many mountain top finishes this year and plenty of TT, climbers should attack...but on the other hand, it is 1st mountain stage this year, probably everybody will just look around and wait... |

Do you have articles to back the bolded up?
Re Nibali: He has said that was because he did it after a load of mountain training and was fatigued
Re Kloden: He was at a very good level in 2009 also and had a very good season in 2011 before crashing out

If Sky try a UK Postal (Royal Mail) it'll just be late, opened up by someone else, or left in a ditch.
But seriously, i exopect BMC and Sky to go head to head on the climb, while Gesink, Sanchez, Martin etc. get away and steal back some time.
Also keep an eye on Menchov, he's my bet for a podium at least.

I have read that even Cancellara said Klöden has now captain,
additionally i also read in the forum that many of you believe Klöden would be too weak.
Klöden will finish the Tour de France up front, at least on the podium, provided he does not crash like last year.
I promise ! |
