Lets face it, he's old, but only 3 years removed from a 3rd overall finish in TdF. He still is probably capable of a top 20, putting the stats any lower and he can't reach that.

As some pointed out, the fact he's been training for triathlon does have an effect on how he'd be in the peloton today. The game will also have a considerable effect in lowering the stats over the first months of a career. Btw, based mine on Kentaurus', which I found very interesting (and it was also the 'closest' to the reply box, which has a considerable effect  ).

Secondly potential is really a stat that is done based on how good the peak of their career should be, not how they currently are. His peak was pretty good I thinks.
