UPT: Tour Down Under
What a great season start for our team in Australia: Mauro Finetto, who allready showed his strength in our training camp, managed to play a trick on some of the best sprinters in the world. But have a look yourself:
After two third places in the first stages, he used his good puncheur qualities (and those of his lead out Peter Sagan) in the uphill sprint finish and took the stage win in Stirling! He therefore took over the leader's jersey.
The next two stages were both won by a rider from a breakaway, but the peloton managed to avoid time gaps. Before the last stage, Finetto led with 2 seconds to Tom Boonen and 8 seconds to Mark Cavendish. Unfortunatly, the latter won the criterium in Adelaide, while Mauro only finished 5th.
General Classification | 1 Mark Cavendish | HTC - Highroad | 18h53'31 | 2 Mauro Finetto | Liquigas - Cannondale | + 2 | 3 Tom Boonen | Quick·Step | + 4 | . | Mountain Classification | 1 Sebastian Langeveld | Rabobank | 38 | . | Points Classification | 1 Mauro Finetto | Liquigas – Cannondale | 16 | . | Young Riders Classification | 1 Matthias Brändle | Geox – TMC | 18h53'42 | . | Team Classification | 1 Saxo Bank – Sungard | . | 56h41'33 |
The manx missile celebrates his win on the last stage.
Our next race will be the G.P. Coppa degli Etruschi.

@roturn, purepasd & hellboy: Thanks, too. There are three short race summaries until Nerz's first race, but I will hurry up a little But don't expect too much, I don't think you'll see some kind of a show , you know he's not that good, at least yet

1.1: Coppa degli Etruschi
Disappointing result for Liquigas today in Italy. On Vicenzo Nibali's season debut, we missed the jump into the deciding break and weren't able to reel them in again. What a pitty, as Sagan and Finetto are in a good shape and they certainly would have had a nice chance in a mass sprint.
But instead, the Belgian equipe Topsport Vlaanderen can celebrate their first season victory. Leonardo Duque continues his nice pre-season.
Result | 1 Kenny De Ketele | Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator | 4h39'10 | 2 Pablo Lastras | Movistar Team | s.t. | 3 Leonardo Duque | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | s.t. |
The original track rider Kenny De Ketele with his first win on the road.

2.1: Giro della Provincia di Grosseto
Mission accomplished. And in what a dominant way!
As you may remember, the Giro della Provincia di Grosseto was the first goal our main sponsor gave us. Here is how it went:
The first stage ended up in a mass sprint. Sagan led out Finetto well, but Anthony Geslin (FDJ) was unstoppable. Third and fourth for us.
Anthony Geslin won the pack sprint on Stage 2 as well, but there was one rider in front of the pack: Vicenzo Nibali attacked on the last hill, and thanks to his great downhill qualities, he managed to stay in front of the pack. Unfortunatly, he couldn't get a time gap.
Mauro Finetto finished third again.
The third stage ought to be the decisive one. Nibali – who by the way was by far the best climber in the field, only Sastre was a little close to him, at least on the paper – attacked with 4 km to go, and nobody could follow him. A little later, Peter Sagan tried his luck as well and overtook all other chasers, achieving a great 1-2 win for us!
General Classification | 1 Vicenzo Nibali | Liquigas - Cannondale | 12h20'20 | 2 Peter Sagan | Liquigas - Cannondale | + 25 | 3 Bram Tankink | Rabobank | + 43 | - | Mountain Classification | 1 Vicenzo Nibali | Liquigas - Cannondale | 13 | - | Points Classification | 1 Anthony Geslin | FDJ | 52 | - | Young Riders Classification | 1 Peter Sagan | Liquigas - Cannondale | 12h20'45 | . | Team Classification | 1 Liquigas - Cannondale | . | 37h03'17 |
Vicenzo Nibali celebrates one of his two stage wins in Italy. He completely dominated and won the mountain jersey and the overall.
We stay in Italy for our next race, the Trofeo Laigueglia. So long!

1.1: Trofeo Laigueglia
Another Italian classic was on for the squad around Nibali today. He was one of the favorites, but the race was really well staffed, as riders like Alexandr Kolobnev, Rinaldo Nocentini or Thomas Voeckler took part as well.
Valerio Agnoli took part in the break of the day. He was caught by the group of favorites on top of the last climb, but managed to cling on. Together with Vicenzo Nibali, Peter Sagan and about 20 other riders, he entered the final 25 km.
With ten kilometres to go, Nibali attacked. Pierrick Fédrigo and a four other riders followed him. He at first managed to create a little gap, but went out of energy within the last 500 metres and was overtaken by the French.
Nevertheless, a second place is quite satisfying.
Result | 1 Pierrick Fédrigo | FDJ | 4h48'45 | 2 Vicenzo Nibali | Liquigas - Cannondale | s.t. | 3 Thomas Voeckler | Europcar | s.t. |
Fédrigo takes his first stage win, after finishing second in the Giro della Calabria earlier this season

Nearly close one, surprised Voeckler didn't win. But the French are great. |

Damn, long time before Nerz start riding.
Only thing I could say referring to post #23 is that I usually prefer an actual in-game pic instead of real pictures in the 'Liquigas News' posts. Also, when you get past the 2nd season, it starts to look quite strange because some riders are in teams they have never ridden for irl. Of course, that's my opinion.
But bring on Dominik' season debut! Should be the next race, right?

@FreitasPCM: Thanks. Fédrigo has just a rather good shape, and already had some good results earlier.
@roturn: True, but to win T - A, he has to be in good shape. Plus, his concurrence isn't too high.
@lluuiiggii: Dominik's debut is indeed coming up tomorrow. Regarding the pics: At the moment, I prefer real pictures. But at last when riders win who are in teams that they've never been in in RL (so that I can't find any pictures), I'll change that, of course.
Any other opinions on that?

Guys, I'm so excited! I'm on my way to my first race for Liquigas!
Right now, I'm sitting in the team bus on the way to Jaén, the starting location of the Vuelta a Andalucia. It starts with a 9km prologue.
Our squad here is really not the strongest, but some other teams bring really good riders. Especially RadioShack and Garmin seem to target this race. Popovych, Paulinho and Horner will probably fight Haussler, Van Summeren and Hesjedal for the overall. Rein Taaramäe (Cofidis) and Tom Stubbe (Donckers Koffie) are some outsiders who'll try to spoil the two major teams.
Allthough I allready spent a year in professional cycling, meeting guys like them is still kind of special to me, so I'm a little nervous. We'll see how it goes...
Check out the Race Results – section for the live ticker my management provides for you!
You'll here from me soon,
Dominik

2.1: Vuelta a Andalucia – Stage 1
Hello everyone and welcome to the live coverage of Dominik's first race for his new team Liquigas – Cannondale.
Today, the Vuelta a Andalucia starts with a 9km-long prologue. None of the Liquigas-riders is a favorite, neither for today nor for the overall. But we'll see what they can do.
14:00: The first rider starts: Jens Keukeleire from the French Cofidis team.
14:01: And here goes the first Liquigas-rider: Davide Cimolai
14:14: Chris Horner (RadioShack), one of the overall contenders starts the race.
14:18: Dominik just shot out of the starting box. He seems really motivated!
14:25: Horner ends up provisional second.
14:29: We can see Dominik finishing in this very moment. He finishes as provisional fourth, 20 seconds behind the current leader Romain Zingle (Cofidis). A good time for him.
14:35: We have a new best time: Cofidis' Damien Monier lowers his teammates' time by 3 seconds.
14:37: Liquigas' overall captain, Tiziano Dall'Antonia starts his race...
14:48: … and claims a provisional 6th, three seconds in front of Dominik.
15:01: Heinrich Haussler, who was announced to be Garmin's captain, comes in two seconds behind Monier
15:31: Another overall contender, Haussler's teammate Ryder Hesjedal, with a little disappointment: Provisional 6th for him.
15:40: Cofidis shows great strength today: Kevin Ista is only tenths of a second slower than Monier. The French équipe occupies 4 of the Top-5 at the moment.
16:01: Another rider was just able to split up the Cofidis-group on top of the classification: Martijn Maaskant finishes current third, two seconds behind.
16:14: The penultimate rider to start is the top-favorite for both today and the overall: RadioShack's Yaroslav Popovych is now on the road...
16:25: But even he isn't able to spoil Cofidis' double victory today. Fifth place for the Ukrainian.
Damien Monier enjoys his victory.

Dominik's comment
First of all thanks for my management for having set up this live ticker.
Regarding the race, I think I can be content with my performance. No one was able to come close to the three top-teams (RadioShack even occupied the places 11 and 12 as well). Therefore, Tiziano's result is quite good as well. We'll see what he can do in the upcoming stages. A Top-10 result would be great.
I hope you'll be with us again tommorow,
Dominik
