Stage 3 - Bayern Rundfahrt
It will be too tough to expect Grega to win this one, but....in the form he is in now, I simply cannot reject the thought
A decent breakaway with 4 riders gets a eight minute lead. Here, the three first, including Roger Hammond, with Rasmus Guldhammer just some seconds behind these. The peloton have to react fairly soon!
OH! Would you believe it!? Andy Schleck is down! The biggest star of the race has just fallen, and the peloton recently accelerated their pace in hope to catch the breakaway! Some dramatic minutes here now. Team Luxembourg is sending down every single man, to get Andy back in the pack. Finally, after 30 km they managed to do so, but they lost some mans on the way up..
Meanwhile, the peloton catches the three riders pictured first in this message.
But one man held his lead all the way to the finish line. Rasmus Guldhammer, congratulations with an exceptional race, a fantastic solo win and the yellow jersey!
Every single man in the finish area is looking for Grega Bole as the mass sprint is on its way, but it seems that he has no power left at all. Instead, another Sparebanken Vest-rider take a surprisingly second place, and Riblon takes the last podium place. Thomas Lövkvist gets some important seconds on the yellow jersey, before tomorrows exciting time trial race. Guldhammer has a great lead, but is he able to cope with the pressure? To be continued...
Race standing:

27 km Time Trial, everything needed to turn the result list upside down!
The main favourites for this race are: Andy Schleck, Kim Kirchen and our own Thomas Lövkvist.
Kim Kirchen, the double world champion, not surprisingly, takes the lead at the waypoint.
More surprising was the Croatian TT-champion Kvasina, who took the lead right after Kirchen had taken it.
In the meanwhile, Joost Posthuma takes the lead with 13 seconds before Andy Schleck who also came some seconds before Kirchen. Then, Lövkvist are closing in to the waypoint. Same time as Andy Schleck and he is placed second!
Lövkvist on his way to the finish line, he almost caught Roger Hammond who was the one started before Lövkvist. Everybody waits on his time...
Second place! 9 seconds behind Poosthuma, but 13 seconds before Schleck. We're still waiting for Rasmus Guldhammer...
Reports from the stage radio, says Guldhammer has lost so much time that it may be a close race for the yellow jersey between him, Poosthuma and Lövkvist, who will it be in the end? The crowd could see Guldhammer's tongue hanging out, he was exhausted, but he still got a decent finish time. It will be close, very close!
The speaker announce that the new yellow jersey holder is...
Unfortunately I became so happy that I forgot the export-thing, but I went back now and took a screenshot of the general standings. A picture says more than thousand export files
Still a stage to go, now we must collect all our strenght to protect the yellow jersey! |

Yes, and he was only 5 seconds from the yellow jersey himself, but I desperately needed that win, so that I could climb some places on the CQ-ranking.
Gah, I never thought playing Bayern Rundfahrt should be so exciting |

Last stage of this very ecxiting race in Bayern, Germany. it should fit both our sprinters well, so we're hoping on a good finish of the race. The main focus is however to protect the yellow jersey.
Luckily for us, todays breakaway consisted of 5 riders, with our own Riblon beeing one of them. Other "big names" in the group was Fothen and Radochla. Kiendys, the one closest to the camera, is having a hard time, trying to hold the pace of the breakaway. The breakaway is being caught at the halfway point, but the pace in the peloton is so high that no other names is trying to brake away at the closing kilometers.
The sprint teams are positioning themself, with the trains from Eddy Mercx - Indeland and Sparebanken Vest - out to the left
The sprint is on! perfect start for Sparebanken Vest. Diego Milán is leading Grega Bole forward with just 2 kilometres to go. Marcel Kittel on his wheel.
But once again, Grega Bole showed that he probably is the strongest sprinter of the peloton. He's taking the triple, and secures his blue sprinter jersey!
This is how much it means to Diego that he is back in form. Excellent news before our next season goal. Österreich Rundfahrt.
Stage results:
1 Grega Bole Sparebanken Vest - Ridley 3h48'07
2 Marcel Kittel Eddy Merckx - Indeland s.t.
3 Baden Cooke Saxo Bank SunGard s.t.
4 Robert Wagner LKT Team Brandenburg s.t.
5 Graeme Brown Sky ProCycling s.t.
6 Thomas Fothen Thüringer Energie Team s.t.
7 Diego Milán Sparebanken Vest - Ridley s.t.
8 Graham Briggs Sky ProCycling s.t.
9 Matthew Goss HTC - Highroad s.t.
10 Hossein Nateghi BMC Racing Team s.t.
Overall standings:
1 Thomas Löfkvist Sparebanken Vest - Ridley 18h40'23
2 Joost Posthuma Glud & Marstrand - LRØ Rådgivning + 3
3 Rasmus Guldhammer Team Concordia Forsikring – Himmerland + 5
4 Grega Bole Sparebanken Vest - Ridley + 8
5 Christophe Riblon Sparebanken Vest - Ridley + 18
6 Andy Schleck Luxembourg Pro Cycling Project + 25
7 Matija Kvasina Meridiana Kamen Team + 27
8 Kim Kirchen Luxembourg Pro Cycling Project + 33
9 Ryder Hesjedal Sky ProCycling + 41
10 Kanstantsin Siutsou HTC - Highroad + 43
Stay tuned for Österreich Rundfahrt, we are hoping for some big stars in the peloton, and as much exciting races as we saw here in Bayern. That's it for now friends, hope you enjoyed the first part |

International Österreich Rundfahrt, 4th August 2013
Today is the day of the stage 1 in Österreich Rundfahrt. Since last I wrote to you, Grega have won the Slovenian Championship, and is very proud to wear it in Austria.

Favourites:
Grega Bole
David Herrero
Marcel Kittel
Today, noone choosed to follow Riblon's breakaway, meaning he got many points in the fight for the climber jersey, but however he loosed some minutes on the peloton after he'd was caught.
Nothing more to report, every sprinter is fighting for the best position as we are entering the last 3 kilometers of the stage
Two sharp turns to go, Bole and Kvist is side by side!
But in the end, he had the power to resist the challengers, and he seizes the yellow jersey as well as the green one.
Results after stage 1:
1. Bole
2. Kvist
3. Howard
4. Kittel
5. Huguet
6. Bellis
7. Milán
8. Kristoff
9. Herrero
10. Vigano
Today's funny pic
Okey, it's allready quite funny that the swiss champion of the year Beuret fell 30 cm's from the finish line, but then the german rider Wagner doesn't seem to care at all!

Thank you, he's really on form now! But tomorrow's stage ends on a mountain, so I think Bole will struggle to take the double |

Stage 2 Österreich Rundfahrt
Favourites:
Thomas Lövkvist
Chris Anker Sørensen
Fredrik Kessiakoff
Todays breakaway consisted of no real dangers in the general rankings, so the peloton didn't do anything to stop them. Therefore, this happend:
The breakaway managed to get a lead of 16 minutes!
Not many of the teams in the peloton was eager to help us, so Vorarlberg and Sparebanken Vest tried to catch them alone.
The breakaway has started the climbing, while you can see the peloton down at the start of the valley. 6 kilometers of uphill left for the breakaway, still 11 minutes to catch. Surely, the breakaway have to take this?
The peloton have started their climbing, with Lövkvist slipping away, Fothen follows after him, and the group of three are Denifl, Huguet and Vinokourov. 7 minutes to catch!
The breakaway riders can feel the finish closing in, as they hear the crowd shout on the top.
And....would you believe it?! The most unlucky rider of the yesterday's stage, takes the victory and the yellow shirt! Surely this has to be a day to remember for our Swiss friend!
The crowd are getting a glimpse of some riders down in the valley, who will come first, and how much minutes are they able to catch in the end?
Lövkvist had the most power today of the chasers, only three and a half minutes behind at the finish, but..wow...where is the others?
Next, the german champion, Fothen, approxemately 2 minutes behind Lövkvist.
Grega Bole, rides in with the pieces of the peloton.

Stage 3 Österreich Rundfahrt
Favourites:
Thomas Lövkvist
Michael Albasini
Grega Bole
This might be a stage for Bole. I think our strategy is to have a big pace in the peloton on the mountains, so some of the overall leaders eventually will fall off.
10 riders gets away and after just some kilometers they are leading by several minutes, this looks promising! Our own Cristophe Riblon is situated with the climbers jersey in the picture.
The breakaway is beeing chased by the peloton now, a high pace....Oh my! Lövkvist have fallen of the peloton and Milán and Horner is down to help him up again. But the pace in the front are unbearable, can they make it up??
Update: Lövkvist is still more than 2 minutes behind, this looks bad for the race favourite.
The peloton is getting closer and closer, meaning the breakaway have to react! And they do! Riblon and Perez is trying to get a gap, and they succeeded. They are now alone against all, with just a few kilometers left.
Perez is dead, and Riblon can secure his first ever win for Sparebanken Vest!
Oh, the peloton have caught Perez and the sprint is leaded by Grega Bole, he will collect the second place here, and Vinokourov(!) takes the third.
Lövkvist never managed to get back to the pack, but he get more chances. Do we have to change captain? There are still a mountain stage to go and a Time Trial. We're hoping for a good comeback for Thomas Lövkvist!
Stage result:
1 | Christophe Riblon | Sparebanken Vest - Ridley | 3h44'05 | 2 | Grega Bole | Sparebanken Vest - Ridley | + 40 | 3 | Alexandre Vinokourov | Sparebanken Vest - Ridley | s.t. | 4 | Thomas Rohregger | Vorarlberg - Corratec | s.t. | 5 | David Herrero | Caja Rural | s.t. | 6 | Francisco Pérez | LKT Team Brandenburg | s.t. | 7 | Florian Stalder | Atlas Personal - BMC | s.t. | 8 | Oleg Chuzhda | Caja Rural | s.t. | 9 | Johann Tschopp | Atlas Personal - BMC | s.t. | 10 | Enrique Salgueiro | Caja Rural | s.t. |
Overall standing:
1 | Laurent Beuret | Atlas Personal - BMC | 12h02'52 | 2 | Matthias Ruß | Thüringer Energie Team | + 8 | 3 | Albert Timmer | Skil - Shimano | + 17 | 4 | Björn Schröder | LKT Team Brandenburg | + 50 | 5 | Marcel Meisen | Eddy Merckx - Indeland | + 54 | 6 | Frantisek Padour | PSK Whirlpool - Author | + 56 | 7 | Nikola Aistrup | Saxo Bank SunGard | + 1'43 | 8 | Sergej Fuchs | Team Nutrixxion Sparkasse | + 4'04 | 9 | Markus Fothen | HTC - Highroad | + 5'27 | 10 | Thomas Rohregger | Vorarlberg - Corratec | + 5'49 | 11 | Alexandre Vinokourov | Sparebanken Vest - Ridley | + 5'55 | 24 | Thomas Löfkvist | Sparebanken Vest - Ridley | + 8'55 | 33 | Grega Bole | Sparebanken Vest - Ridley | + 9'45 |

Yes, it's a lot of time, but that's on the swiss leader who is, to be honest, not the best climber in the peloton, so I'm more worried about the gap between Lövkvist and Fothen/Rohregger. But Vinokourov is still in the race. Maybe we can use him at a later part of the stage race. We'll see |
